Not feasible for travelers
The pickup was easy enough.
Yeah the drop off and exchange was absolutely ridiculous.
This company has almost next to no drop off locations outside of Chicago city limits. I had to drop the car off an hour and a half away from where I lived.
I made it back into town Sooner than I expected but I wasn't allowed to change my pickup time. Instead of being able to drop it off at a lot, I had to drop it off at a CTA bus lot where there was nowhere to park. Then I had to wait 40 minutes for the Kyte person to pick it up. I had no way to reach the kite person or see where their driver was.
When I reached out to their chat for help, the guy was rude and condescending. No help at all. You will also get charged for needing to change your time if under 2 hour limit.
I was supposed to only be charged $287. As of right now there are $751 pending on my credit card from this company. Once again, I reached out to them for help and they did nothing.
I do not recommend them. They are not feasible for travelers. Things happen, plans change.
Smelly cars
I received an old car that stunk of cigarette smoke and some perfume meant to cover it up. The person who gave it to me even warned me about the smell and that it had a documented smoke history, but they wouldn't allow me to refuse it for another car which I later learned was my legal right. I spent 4 days driving that smelly car with the windows down bc it was so foul.And the smell would get even worse when it was parked outside in the sun. Kyte has no customer service, just a chat option through the app that is often unmanned so good luck getting a resolution. I finally got a replacement at 9:30PM, now that my trip is almost over, and they told me that the person who picked it said it smells fine. This is laughable as the person who picked it up was the same person who originally warned me it was smoked in and smelled. This company is terrible. There is reason their reviews are so low.

Car condition
Good day! I’ve already contacted customer support, but I want to reiterate this to ensure your service remains the best of the best. I frequently use your service, and the cars are always in good condition. However, this time, the car was very dusty inside, especially all the plastic parts. Most importantly, the windshield washer fluid reservoir was empty. Please ensure that all departments thoroughly prepare the cars before handing them over. Best wishes! Until next time!

This was our first experience using Kyte and it was very easy and convenient. They dropped off our car at our hotel on time. The car was clean and almost new (even had the new car smell). The app made it easy to know what we had to do, make changes or ask questions. Drop off was somewhat easy (thank goodness for good directions) at a parking garage by the San Fransisco airport. It said that we could take the Bart from there to the airport, which we could, but it was $9.00 per person so we ended up taking an Uber (which was the same price but more convenient). Although we weren't planning to pay more to get to the actual airport. I wish there was a direct airport drop off but it worked out ok.

if you're looking to be totally inconvenienced for a rental car, this is the company for you. The experience was awful. this company needs to go out of business. Thanks for nothing.

We specifically booked a car to be picked up and dropped off AT THE AIRPORT (ORD) and were totally fine paying a $20 airport convenience fee at pickup and again at drop off just for this convenience. I was shocked to get an update that we had to take a train into the city (opposite direction from our destination) to pickup and drop off from a guy who would be standing near a train station. On top of that $40 we were charged $38 for car rental tax and $28 for personal property lease fee (can’t be both). They tried to say we couldn’t get refunded but my bank (Chase) said that was fraud so immediately they reversed the charges. Scammers!

It's the worst company i've ever used
It's the worst company i've ever used, they will cancel your car a minute before your booking have to start for no reason at all, and you can talk to the president easier then talking to kyte. don't use them if you want a car!
I have rented cars from kyte since last…year
I have rented cars from kyte since last year and this was my first disappointment. The car was not clean. It had broken junk in the back under the seat and the surfer who delivered it forgot to leave the keys. So, arriving at my destination I realized they were not in the well and had to contact kyte. The only way to do that was through chat as when I called customer service the guy couldn’t help me. It took quite awhile to get through with the chat ( you need to be able to talk with someone) and explain the situation which could have been handled much easier on the phone. Finally the issue was resolved and a driver brought me the keys in time to get to my granddaughter’s wedding. I thank you for that. And applaud the deliver surfer. The car however was given to me with less than 3/4s of a tank, delivered late and the tire pressure indicator said low. So, overall I thank you for getting me the keys and for the wonderful guy who picked up the car when I got home, but there were real problems with the car and its delivery.

The service was great. The surfer was on time. No issue with the automobile. Price was superb. Will definitely use Kyte in the future

This was my 3rd time using Kyte and the experience has been excellent every time. The pickup and drop off is the easiest of any car rental service that I have ever used. I am an extensive traveler and cannot wait to use this service in more locations as they expand!

The Car was outstanding! We could probably be more efficient with the checkin in Atlanta. If it’s only one surfer at the location you could be waiting until they hear the front calling.

Love the no counter approach!
Love the no counter approach! No lines! Just book, scan a QR at pick up and they pull up with your car. Did I say NO LINES! So easy to pick up and return. If you are living in the past, keep using traditional car rental companies. Kyte is totally the way to go. No paperwork to read at the counter and no person who doesn't speak English trying to trick you on upgrades and useless rental insurance packages. Everything is on the app and all the notifications during the trip make it a breeze to know what is going on with your rental. App has all the info you need to upgrade, add miles, or read your contract. I will use Kyte again for sure!
