I had an appointment for consult for cataract surgery.
Came away feeling very unhappy from the perspective of :-
1. Left me waiting 30 minutes for my appointment
2. No explanation of the process that day, left waiting in a hallway with no explanation why
3. Final session with the surgeon and another. They wanted me booked in soon but I needed to wait a few months for various reasons. I was very much insulted by the attitude towards me, my reasons for timing were personal and were criticised.
I ended up booking a surgery date.
Once home, and on reflection, decided this company were NOT getting my money and actually demanded my consult fee back. Which I received.
Went elsewhere and received exemplary service,

It's a scam pure and simple designed to fleece you into lens replacement! Do your due diligence! I wish I had especially when making clear I did not want harassed by sales people.

Excellent service and care. I filled in a contact form and soon had a reply from Roz, I was on holiday and Roz made it easy by using WhatsApp to answer questions and book me in. I went for initial checks and a discussion with the optometrist in Edinburgh and was treated very well. I was then contacted by Ailish who kept in contact until the very day of my surgery, even arranging a video call with Mr Mantry beforehand to answer any queries, which he did with honesty. I've now had my surgery at the Glasgow clinic, and 3 follow up appointments all included in the original quoted price. Treated with respect, and felt all staff really valued my custom. I would not hesitate to return. Best of all, no more of my child's sticky finger prints on spectacles, or them being broken from playing with him. I am now prescription free for the first time since being 4 years old! Thank you all.

I had bilateral cataract extraction and lens implantation in August and have now obtained my distance glasses. The operation has been a great success without complication. The facilities at Ratho are very nice and the surgeon Dr Saidkasimova and whole team were lovely.

With year-on-year deterioration of my vision through cataract developing, I attended Vision Scotland’s Clinic in Edinburgh. Hearing from friends who had attended previously, just how beneficial and successful the procedure proved, I had little apprehension about the surgery, but my visit showed the support provided would reassure the most nervous patient. I was surprised by just how many ways the team could look into my eyes in order to build up such a comprehensive picture of my current status and thereby guide my treatment plan. Now, for the first time in over 50 years, I don’t wear glasses and my world is a clearer, brighter place.
It would be so easy to mention individuals with whom I had more direct contact, but from my arrival until I left, I was very impressed with the comprehensive, professional and caring service provided by the whole team.

Everything has been first class. Once referred by my optician, I quickly received a phone call to arrange my first appointment and within just a few short weeks the surgery took place on both eyes to remove my cataracts. Everyone was so professional and friendly and I felt completely at ease throughout the whole procedure. The actual surgery was totally painless and was over much quicker than I thought it was going to be. The care taken by all involved prior, during and after surgery has been outstanding and although I have 12 months aftercare as part of the package, I doubt I shall need it. The results have exceeded my expectations and my optician says my sight is better than 20/20. I no longer need reading glasses, even though I expected to and my distance vision is good enough to drive. I have spectacles for watching TV, but don’t need them for everyday activities. You are all a great team, and I would heartily recommend you to those seeking cataract surgery. Thank you so much.

Mr Sanjay Mantry carried out lens replacement surgery for me with horrendous results. He openly admitted that he made an error in selecting me as a suitable candidate for the procedure. He tried to resolve my problems over a few years but has informed there is nothing more he can do. I have been left without any help and with very distressing results. I would not recommend. Keep your glasses it’s a small price to pay.

I was able to get my surgery at least 14 months earlier than if I had waited for NHS treatment; and this, before the Eye Pavilion was closed temporarily.
From Assessment Appointment to surgery itself every aspect was streamlined. I had both cataracts dealt with at the same time. The operation took less than an hour, used local anaesthetic and was completely painless. Within a few days my eyesight was better than it had been for some years.
The facilities at the hospital are first class and all the staff are most helpful and courteous and put you at ease from the outset. Prices are completely transparent - no hidden charges.

I had surgery on both eyes performed at the Alpa Hospital in Aberdeen by Mr J Ross on the 5th September 2024. I am already overjoyed at how well my vision is now without any spectacles. All the staff on Mr Ross’s team were excellent and I was looked after very well. Everything was explained very clearly before surgery and I never felt any discomfort during the operation. I would definitely recommend Vision Scotland to anyone deciding to have private eye surgery.

I’m 50 years old, my eye sight was getting worse so I opted for lens replacement as I hate glasses and contact lenses.
I needed the tri focus toric lens, I was concerned about halos but decided it was worth it. The op was done by Dr Jonathan Ross, he was great. Please don’t worry about the op it was pain free and even though it’s your eyes you don’t see anything weirdly, the only issue you’ll have is with your head and overthinking it.
After the op I had suffered with light sensitivity and an awful reaction to the drops making my eyes feel like I was constantly peeling onions. I really struggled for the first week and wore sunglasses inside, my drops were changed and it was better but it took about 3 months of light sensitivity before I was ok. Then I was fine, even in bright light with no sun glasses.
The halos are a bit annoying at night, when driving the car lights halo but if you asked me if I’d rather have my old eye sight and no halos it would be a no brainier.
I can read small print, see distance, swim and shower without the worry of water in my eyes/contacts. I never need to think about glasses and I love it.
I’m 10 months in now and thought I’d wait to review, I hope this helps anyone considering the surgery.

I had cataract surgery in April with Dr Ross. On the day of the surgery everything was perfect. My surgeon and the other staff were lovely and the procedure went well. I am pleased with the results and no longer need glasses or contacts. However there were some issues that I was not happy with. The original optometrist that I saw misdiagnosed my eye dominance which would have had a major impact in the type of lenses I would have had. When I said I would like another opinion on this, I was dismissed. I was not happy, however, and called and arranged to be seen by a different optometrist who confirmed my suspicions. This was confirmed by yet another optometrist and my surgeon. In addition, after my op, I was given some incorrect info on my medication which led to a flare up of an inflammation in my eye.

I cannot say thank you enough to all of the team who contributed to my laser treatment in Aberdeen on Friday.
What friendly, kind and caring people they all were and I would throughly recommend them.
They made me feel very welcome and an ease the whole way through the procedure.

I had my eyes done three weeks ago, both done together. Everything went without a hitch never felt a thing. I needed them done for driving.

I had the surgery done at Ratho Station and the staff were perfect in every way from the consultant Ms Saidkasimova who was excellent to Emma my fav.

I recently had surgery with Dr Mantry in Edinburgh and no longer need my glasses. My friend had surgery a few months before me and he encouraged me to go along for the free appointment. Cheesy as it sounds, wish I had done it sooner.

I had surgery with Mr Mantry earlier this year and my vision is incredible.

Please, please do your research into the different companies as I was misled by another company that told me my surgery would be approx £1200 for both eyes at it was actually £5000.

Laser Vision Scotland were honest, professional and very caring.

I had my initial consultation August 22 in Livingston with an optometrist and surgeon who said they could correct my eyes, so I wouldn't need glasses for driving or activities. It never worked. I've been over a year battling inconsistent vision and dryer eyes, the few checkups after surgery have been with different optometrists and different locations evertime. I was offered to have one eye re corrected for free but I really didn't like the idea of having one good one bad eye, so this was later changed to both eyes, but after such a poor outcome and still needing glasses, how am I supposed to trust you can fix the issues I'm experiencing.

I would rate Vision Scotland 10 stars if I could. I had my first cataract surgery at Edinburgh Ratho location on 6th November 2023. The team are welcoming, caring & helped me put my fear of surgery at ease. My surgeon was Mr Mark Stoddart who has a lovely gentle manner & gave me a precious gift of clear vision. Thank you 🙏 from the bottom of my heart. Claire who was my point of contact is an asset to the company with her professionalism & caring manner . The hot toasted muffin & cup of tea after surgery was an unexpected delight. If you need vision correction I would highly recommend Vision Scotland.

Like most or if not every patient having eye cataract surgery I was very very apprehensive (terrified actually) having the procedure done at Vision Scotland at Ratho Park put me at ease. Mr Ross was terrific and his surgical team and nurses were outstanding with their kind, empathetic and relaxing manner and attention to detail of what was going to happen when I went into the theatre, I needn’t have worried . Having both eyes done at the same time was the right decision for me. my vision is now excellent. I would most certainly recommend Vision Scotland for Cataract Surgery

What a good choice I made in going to Vision Scotland at Ratho Park for my recent cataract surgery with lens correction and also having both eyes done at the same time. Mr Mark Stoddart, the surgeon, was terrific and his surgical team and nurses were outstanding with their kind, empathetic and relaxing manner. I can now see details of things that I have not seen for a long time and my vision is now excellent. I would most certainly recommend Vision Scotland for Cataract Surgery.
