I ordered nearly £2000 of timber for personal project online through building supplies online on 4 May The delivery was estimated for 12 May but I got a phone call almost immediately from Arnold Laver to say there would be a delay. No calls after that so called them on Friday 14 May and was told delivery would be today 20 May. No phone call or text to say they are on their way. So called them to be told they can’t deliver today despite having some of the order and now I have lost a days work and pay as a result. I am most disappointed with the lack of communication.

Service awful, ordered yesterday to be picked up at 8am, order not done waiting 30 mins now not been served must find a better timber yard because this shower obviously don’t give a damm

Can't speak for the quality of products or service but saw litter being thrown out of the passenger side window from their vehicle registration: YN70 YYO this morning in Greasborough.

Recently purchased some timber products with terrible communications from the supplier. No confirmation of delivery date - tried numerous occasions to contact the customer service number with no response and when I finally got through to speak with someone I was told that it “wasn’t their problem”. This is not acceptable in the slightest and still have not received the goods over a week after placing the order. Unlikely to use this company again based on this experience. I’ve now contacted my local depot for an update and have been told some of my items are being shipped from another depot before they can deliver - earlier communication would be appreciated for order progress in the future to avoid similar experience for other customers.

I recently discovered this Timber merchants when i started working on a Building Project a few doors away, before then I hadn't heard of Arnold Laver
I was very impressed with the customer service as these days this is sadly non existent . Tom and Akhil have been excellent. Their knowledge of their Timber products is first class and the prices seem reasonable. Also the delivery driver and the yard man always seem happy to help

Pretty obvious that these merchants don't care about there customers. After driving from Birmingham to there Coventry branch, only to find the store closed. On there we page it says open. Disgusting.

Ordered 25 metres of PSE Softwood timber as it was the cheapest quote around. I was offered a "cutting service" for an extra £7. As a DIY customer this appeared great as it would fit in the car and save me a tonne of work.
Picked the wood up and got it home to discover the wood had been cut short (not just short but lengths that should have been the same were all different) and was damaged with oil deposits, blue paint clamp marks and was generally poor quality with chips and splits.
Wrote an email to the company and got a fairly rude curt reply stating "they offer a cutting service rather than a bespoke intricate machining service" but they would replace the timbers I felt were wrong, but wouldnt cut anything further for me. (I didnt feel they were wrong, they were wrong the tape measure didn't lie.)
Turned up to return the damaged timbers and get replacements and was shown to a stack of 4.1m timbers to select and carry to my car myself.
The chap that served me had a terrible attitude like it was my fault they couldnt measure and cut to size without damaging the timber. No hint of an appology or refund for the cutting fee. All told, terrible customer service will never use them again, they are cheap for a reason.

Ordered 4 sheets of 2400x1200x9mm mdf
For panelling a wall.
On checking the delivery when I got home every single board was damaged and bent, from splits running 500mm down the edges of the board to full corners missing.
Looked like it had been used to line the depots floor as sheets where full of dust and where covered in footprints.
When I rang to complain it was like it was an inconvenience to them and I should have been great full that they’d put an extra sheet on (which was also damaged)
Now waiting for a second delivery after I rejected these.
Shocking from product to customer service, would never use these again.

Ordered a large quantity of wood for cladding project.
Had to chase a delivery time as this was not confirmed after the order.
The time I was told was incorrect and actually turned up early when I was not there and the product was incorrect when i finally arrived home. I emailed the company the nearest depot that evening to have the delivery corrected.

The Depot Manager at the Manchester depot was extremely helpful. Admitted there had been an error and offered to have the products delivered the same day which arrived at midday.

All is now good and the timber is of a good quality. A few hiccups however I would use again.

We ordered top grade canadian red cedar cladding costing about £1700. Many (44% to be exact) of the timbers were either damaged or had too many knots in them for the grade. The salesman was dispatched and we went through each plank by hand to ID the ones which needed replacing. Tiresome and I could have done without the arguments and excuses. However, after all that, some of the replacements were damaged and split and we refused to accept them so the delivery driver took them away. We are still waiting a refund for the further damaged and split planks months later. My emails have been ignored. And the hassle added time to the project. I’d advise to go elsewhere....

On recommendation we went to Arnold Laver Bradford for a kitchen quote. We ended up wasting 3 hours designing a kitchen for which we never got a price for. Chased them via email and phone but never heard back.
We purchased a beautiful kitchen from Magnet instead!

I was in need of some timber which another supplier had failed to deliver. I rang Arnold Laver Hull and spoke to a very polite young man called Chris Smith. I was absolutely thrilled to bits with the service I received. Not only did he fulfil my every need his general friendly demeanour truly was the icing on the cake of what, I feel, represented the epitome of five-star service. Will definitely use again. Unless Chris leaves.

5 years ago we had a kitchen supplied and fitted by Arnold Laver. We have always been happy with the quality of the kitchen and the fitting. Recently however the surface of the kitchen cupboard doors has started to lift from the doors.
I contacted Richard at Arnold Laver to see if this was something that may be covered under warranty although after 5 years I wasn't particularly hopeful.
Richard explained that although the manufacturer has limited warranty claims to 2 years, Arnold Laver had decided that they would replace defective items as part of their commitment to their customers.
Given the general lack of real customer service which is so common today it's remarkable to find that good old fashioned customer service is still available!
