Terrible customer service and a ridiculous admin for €40 for passing details on to authorities. Will never ever use again took fee with no explanation had to chase.

The staff have excellent English and understood perfectly well that I already had fully comprehensive insurance. I showed them my insurance policy which had been printed out and I was asked to sign a document that I was told was accepting the car. I was at absolutely no point told that I was going to purchase further insurance. In fact, I actually asked the gentleman at the counter specifically to make sure that the document did not include any further insurance. I have since been told that somewhere in the small print was an agreement for me to purchase further insurance.
Since I signed against the document, there is nothing that can be done.
This effectively more than doubled the cost of my vehicle hire.
This is extremely unethical practice and I would strongly urge that people not use thrifty in future.

Versuchen jedem!! Mieter am Flughafen ohne Erklärung eine Extra Versicherung „supercov“ unterzujubeln, was leider was immer gelingt, so auch uns mit Oma im Gepäck und keine Zeit und man vertraut einfach zu schnell. Wir haben am Nachbar Schalter auch mitbekommen wie ein älterer Herr extra nachgefragt hat, was das ist und es wurde als deposit verkauft und wird auf jeden Fall rückerstattet. Eine glatte Lüge!
Vorsicht und nie wieder. Hätten auch nie gedacht, dass eine so renommierte Vermietung wie Hertz sowas im großen Stil zulässt. Traurig

Eine wahre Frechheit, wie bei Thrifty betrügerisch vorgegangen wird.
Es wird nach der Kreditkarte gefragt und bezüglich der Kaution etwas erklärt. Untergejubelt wird einem jedoch eine Zusatzversicherung, über die kein Wort geredet wurde.
Verkauft wird das ganze versteckt in unverständlichen Mietverträgen.

We booked a car to be picked up at Alicante airport. The thrifty office is very conveniently placed in the car park. It is light and airy and we found the service to be fast, efficient and courteous .The person who looked after us Luis was extremely helpful and empathetic.
There was no unpleasantness and hard cell regarding insurance or other extras just a courteous offer and inquiry if any of these were required.
Our car was relatively new and clean and we were very happy with it.
The experience returning the car was just as good. We parked by the office someone came to inspect the car who once again it was extremely pleasant and helpful. This is the best car experience we’ve had in quite a few years and we will certainly be booking with them again.

Auch mir passierte das gleiche, was hier schon mehrfach beschrieben wurde. Die Dame vom Personal sprach von einer Kaution für das Fahrzeug und einer weiteren Kaution, falls nicht getankt würde. Von einer zusätzlichen Versicherung war nie auch nur im Ansatz die Rede. Dies ist aus meiner Sicht eine arglistige Täuschung.
Ich habe bereits bei sehr vielen Unternehmen ein Auto gemietet. Dieses Gebaren habe ich noch nie erlebt. Es wurde zwar zuweilen gefragt, ob ich eine zusätzliche Versicherung abschließen möchte, es wurde mir aber noch nie eine Versicherung mittels falscher Informationen untergejubelt. Und dies ausgerechnet von diesem Unternehmen, von dem ich eigentlich dachte, sie wäre ein seriöses Unternehmen. Schade, bei diesem Anbieter werde ich nie wieder ein Fahrzeug mieten.

Im Nachhinein ist man immer schlauer. Bei mir ist genau dasselbe passiert wie bei vielen Rezensionen davor. Es wurde auf den Gesamtpreis inkl. Kaution hingewiesen, dabei war war der vermeintliche Mietpreis aber die untergejubelte Zusatzversicherung. "Zufällig" waren beide Beträge nahezu identisch, sodass ich im guten Glauben unterschrieben habe,

Like a number of other people on this site, I was scammed by the agent positioning payment of a security deposit instead of saying it was a charge for excess insurance
Given that the payment was made on a credit card, I am being supported by my bank to get a refund under the Section 75 Consumer Credit act. It does cover these kind of transactions, even though they are overseas

We booked through Booking.com. We went for a reputable company, or so we thought. We paid max insurance cover too. We hire cars regularly in Spain/ Portugal. On our return, once we'd left the country, we were charged an additional €114 for premium roadside assistance. Was this highlighted to us when I signed for the car? NO! I'm absolutely fuming. Crooks.

I'd taken out the "excess cover" with the broker Autoeurope so didn't need any extra insurance when i picked up the car. However, the desk staff added it to the contract without telling me - and simply showed me the line which said "zero". An absolute con, fraud, theft. It'll teach me to read the fine print next time ..... but I'll never use Thrify or its parent Hertz ever again.

Hoewel ik al jaren mimimaal 1x per jaar een huurauto huur in Spanje of USA , toch weer beetgenomen met de extra kosten. extra kosten voor 6 dagen euro 380,- Ok ik had op moeten letten , maar ik blijf me opgelicht voelen. Vers uit het vliegtuig met de koffers onder je oksels is het ze toch weer gelukt VEEL extra geld voor 6dagen uit mijn creditcard te trekken. Mijn gevoel zegt niet eerlijk/moreel zaken doen zo. Nooit meer Bij Thrifty. Vorig jaar in Spanje bij Hertz ging alles veel prettiger

As with most of the other reviews regardless of returning vehicle full of fuel to Malaga airport , I was charged around 65 euros as a “service charge “, despite several emails asking for clarification as usual “nada”. It was listed amongst several other “estimated items” items such as airport charge which was around 16 euros which I can accept. So in reality I have paid the same amount in charges as I paid to hire via doyouspain. I’ve hired before at the airport with another car hire and never come across this so called service charge. Rather get the shuttle bus to Wiber honest and open about costs. Grumble over be happy but don’t use Thrifty if you can

Gebucht über Ryanair online , vermittelt über booking. Vor Ort steht auf dem Zettel -423€ Kaution,die direkt per Visa geblockt wird. Da steht nix von Zusatzversicherung bei der Abbuchung!?! Wenn man dann wieder in Deutschland ist und die Rückerstattung erwartet kommt ein geringer Betrag (ca.245€ wurden einbehalten) ohne jegliche Begründung! Achtet auf zu unterschreibende Zettel und fragt nach...in Englisch meist problematisch. Alle nett und freundlich,man denkt keiner will einem was schlechtes...und dann das!

Told by Thrifty the payment was a security deposit- never refunded after 28 days. Payment had been taken after the car had been returned and I was back in the uk.

We didn’t buy super cover insurance through Thrifty
Because we bought one with a agent and big surprise we got a extra bill for 400 euros

After a really bad experience with Centauro car hire in Alicante airport, I cancelled the booking and rebooked with Thrifty. I had taken an annual waver policy out with the RAC. The lady on reception asked if we wanted the insurance, which I declined. We took the car, which had been upgraded. Went on our way. On return we had to use the drop box, as it was out of hours, which was a worry.
However, our deposit was returned within a day. No hassle at all. Really pleased with the service and swiftness of the return of the deposit. Really happy 😊

THRIFTY MALAGA - FRAUD
Without asking the sales clerk added a full coverage insurance to the rental agreement. When I asked about it I was deliberately lied to and told it was liability coverage in case of damage and the payment of it was a deposit I would get back when I returned the car.
