Misleading app when cancelling

The facilities are good, and the manager was always pleasant to deal with, but unfortunately the misleading business practices of Spaces have disappointed me enough to warrant a one-star review. When cancelling one's membership, there are a few pages to click through; in particular, there is a very misleading page where one's natural instinct is to click the brightly-coloured button "Cancel", but one must instead click the dull button "Opt Out" to avoid being stuck with one of two services; I got stuck with the default "Business Continuity" service. A Spaces staff member saw exactly what happened because he was looking at my phone as I clicked "Cancel", and he promised to remove the unwanted service for me ASAP (though not without chastising me first). As far as I am aware, such a verbal promise is legally enforceable. However, a few weeks later, I have received an invoice for over £700 for the Business Continuity service.

(Note: This was AFTER I had already been invoiced for an unwanted month of membership because I apparently hadn't succeeded in following the labyrinthine process to cancel before the end of the previous month. Over three weeks ago, the accounts team was looking into a refund, but I have heard nothing back.)

I do not believe this is an acceptable way to do business with people. Money should be earned by providing services people want and need, not by tripping people up into accepting unwanted services via a bad app.

Also, maybe I missed something, but I never found a way of reaching the team directly other than walking up to the front desk and talking to whoever is there. The only telephone number I could find is for a centralised switchboard, and when I tried to reply to an email I had received from a member of staff from when I joined, my email was bounced back, saying it was only for the internal use of staff. It would have been nice to be able to reach the local team easily by email or phone. I didn't mention it at the time because it didn't feel like a big deal, but after the way things ended, I am raising it now.

I would like to stress again that, up until my final day of working there, my experiences were good, and it was a pleasant place to work. If Spaces improves their cancellation procedure, and makes it easier to reach staff by email or phone, I could recommend them. But, sadly, the way things ended have left me with such a bad feeling that one star is what I feel they deserve for now.

My team have contacted you to get more information, and I have also immediately contacted the Manager of your centre to look into this as a priority.
Business Continuation is optional, and you can opt out at any time by logging onto your myspacesworks.com account.
It is a value-added service for companies who want to ensure every call and letter is intercepted as they transition from one location to the next.
It offers the following benefits for a full three months after moving out:
• Customised voicemail and forwarding service. You can record your own personalised message letting callers know your new number, so you never miss anything.
• Mail handling. All post will be held in the centre for collection at your convenience, so you have time to change your business address.
We have already credited this service for you.
At Spaces we take renewals very seriously and take great care in communicating how the process works. It’s our goal to make this an efficient and simple process for our customers.
For agreements renewable on a monthly basis, the termination needs to be confirmed in your online account. The notice is 30 days from the first day of any calendar month.
In order to request your deposit refund, please login online and follow these steps: Account > Billing and Payments > Deposit balances > Request Retainer Return.
Finally, the direct contact details for your centre team are found displayed on any of your invoices and their email signatures.
