Also Austria has its "trading standards" and national consumer protection organisations, so you could, like me report this company to one of the competent authorities for their unfair practices

If I could give this site less than a one star I would. After signing up and realising they were using fake “date” replies” I followed their procedure for cancelling after just one month. I knew I had no hope of regaining my £250 but I sent a registered letter to Austria confirming my cancellation. Today I woke up to find that they had tried to steal over £300 from my account and fortunately my bank caught on. If you have given your bank details to this scum bag company I strongly recommend that you block their access or change your card so they cannot steal any money.

Click Bait to get you in. Looks like fake people. Cancelling pretty untenable. I too am getting nasty emails. An email telling them you no longer want their services stacks up in law. They do not notify you of rollover , which as per the gov site works in our favour as it is ethical to do so. Police my next step. Threatening to destroy your credit limit you can contest. They are welcome to take me to the small claims court. There is enough stacked in my favour. Avoid like the plague. If you cancel, then keep all emails etc.. they came after me 14 months later.

STAY AWAY!! This business is an absolute disgrace. The site is filled with fake profiles and don’t even mention the explicit profile pics. Along with many others, I too sent a registered letter in both English and German to cancel (which luckily I can track online). Again, harassing emails for more money because you have been automatically extended; you can reply to them but are ignored till the next month when demands for more money come in. They wouldn’t take my profile down so I deleted the info there and replaced it with a note that I was no longer a member but I couldn’t get it removed. Dreadful, dreadful. If I could give it negative stars I would.

When I realized this is scam, They keep on sending threaten email. I have to cancelled my credit card. Wish this can end this nightmare

Lots of different versions of this site. LoveAt50 etc. All based in Austria or so it says. Luckily I didn't sign up as far as making payments! But kept getting emails from supposed interesting parties that can't be opened unless you pay. They have not responded to any emails I've sent raising issues. Steer clear!

Do not touch this site at all!!! It us a glorified scam.
I was only on it a couple of weeks and realised all the contacts were not genuine. I cancelled straight away but my profile is still on the site and can not get it removed!! I have emailed support a number of times, to no avail.

If you're looking here before opening an account then well done and DON'T! I failed to check here and have found out the hard way that 50's Love is just a fake, scam business. If you look at the reviews they are almost exclusively 5 star (They're fake too), or 1 star, and they're the real one's. This scam business, which is actually based in Inssbruck, Austria is utterly fake and will simply sign you up to auto-renewal and then regularly empty your account! They really need shutting down!

Totally agree with all other reviews, this is a SCAM, avoid at all cost.

I am going to try and contact relevant authorities in this country.
I thought of joining in November 2021. When it came to checking out I discovered how ridiculously expensive it actually was. I did it twice in 2 plans, thinking I had made a mistake.
One plan was for £60 odd, when it came to check out and I realised how much it was I stopped the transaction at checkout when it says do you want to complete transaction. This transaction was still taken out from my credit card account, but paid back, I realised this the next day.
As I thought it can’t be that expensive I thought I would have another go. I go to check out again this time for the 6 month membership, which was £180 odd. Again, I decided how stupidly expensive it was and I said no to the do you want to complete transaction option. The next day I found out they had actually taken the £180. I contacted Lloyds bank credit card services and they fought that case and paid my money back.
On 19th November 2021 I registered a letter to the company telling them to cancel my membership straight away. I have the copy from the post office of the receipt of the registered letter being posted and a copy of the letter.
As far as I was concerned this was all over.
In March 2022 I started receiving threatening emails saying I owed them money as they couldn’t take anything from my credit card. Since then I have sent a series of emails to the address who is threatening me, only to find out they won’t except my email reply. I then send the copy of my reply to the service email address at the company.
I did pay them £85 which they said I owed them hoping the emails would stop. They did for 2 weeks, then today I received another threatening email, saying exactly the same thing.
I have all the trail of every email, I have a copy of the letter I sent plus the certificate from Royal Mail saying I have registered the cancellation to the address in Austria.
This company threaten to effect my credit rating. They are an absolute disgrace, it’s is a total con.
Please please do not waste any time or certainly any money with this company.

I have been conned by this fake website. They debited my account £179; when I tried to cancel they said I could do so by writing and they never responded. They have now contacted me seven months later requesting £239 and threatening to call in debt collection agency. I don't even understand why I owe this money after they already scammed £179. Thankfully I had cancelled my card when they took the initial payment so they were unsuccessful stealing the £239 from my account

50's Love is a subscription scam that hides its terms and conditions in the fine print. I don't know about other countries but in New Zealand we are protected by the Fair Trading Act of 1986. This includes all businesses that trade with NZ Citizens and residents so don't let them tell you German or Austrian Law applies.

Don’t let them tell you that Austrian or German law takes precedence here in New Zealand it doesn’t.

“The Fair Trading Act applies to all traders who advertise or sell to New Zealand consumers online, even if the trader is based outside of New Zealand.”

It is made clear to customers from the beginning how their subscription or contract will be renewed and the contract requires that they are sent a reminder a reasonable time before it is due to be renewed.

The reminder should include clear information about the terms of the proposed renewal and the steps customers need to take to stop the renewal, if they wish to.
Terms that may be unfair include:
Automatically renewing your customer’s contract or subscription without taking sufficient steps to inform them before doing so.
Imposing financial sanctions on your customer, which may prevent them from stopping a renewal.

Using excessively long notice periods to tie your customer in for another fixed term.

Lengthy notice periods may be unfair in a contract which lasts indefinitely. These can force customers to continue with a contract longer than they need or want to.

A term in your contract that is declared unfair by a court, cannot be used, enforced, or relied on. If you continue to use or enforce the term you could be prosecuted and face conviction, fines, and other legal sanctions.

“Terms that allow you, but not the customer, to rollover the contract are included in examples of terms that a court may regard as unfair under the Fair Trading Act”.

“Any cancellation is reasonable (ie, it does not have the effect of tying the customer into the contract unfairly).

50’s Love requirement of cancellation is unreasonable as it requires a faxed letter or registered letter and is deliberately cumbersome and obstructive for customers to cancel.

“Traders selling online need to make sure they comply with both the Fair Trading Act and the Consumers Guarantees Act”.

“Traders must not bury qualifications, limitations and other important terms in the fine print or on a link-through page. Any term that is likely to be material to a consumer must be given prominence in the offer”.

50’s love has buried the conditions of cancelling the subscription in their small print and make it extremely difficult and unreasonable to cancel the subscription so they can try and charge customers for longer.

50’s love has breached the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 in that most of the profiles are fake or managed by actors not real members. This is not what I paid for. In other words, your dating site is unfit for purpose.

Consumer Guarantees Act

This means that products must be:
• fit for their normal purposes
• acceptable in finish and appearance
• free from minor defects
• safe
• durable.
This is based on whether a reasonable consumer would find the products acceptable taking into account:
• the nature or type of products, eg second-hand products are more likely to show signs of use and may be less durable than new products
• the price paid — products that are expensive are expected to be of better quality than products that are very cheap
• any information on the products, in advertising or in the packaging
• any statement the retailer or supplier made about the products including their history, quality, or condition
• the nature of the trader and how the products were supplied, eg products bought from an online auction might be expected to be lower quality than those bought in a shop
• all other relevant circumstances, eg how soon they developed a problem after purchase.
If the retailer or manufacturer arranges for the products to be delivered to you, the products must be of acceptable quality when you receive them.

I can't cancel my membership and they keep asking for more money. I sent a letter registered mail to the Alpha Internet address as requested, and still they are threatening me with non-payment of fee, but as I have no wish to renew, I owe them nothing. The service when I was a member was awful.

This dating platform is a complete scam. I agree with all the other people's reviews. I tried to cancel after 2 days after I realized it was a scam, but they refused. And I get the generic replies that has been mentioned. I cancelled my card with my bank and they sent me a new one. I see they try to threaten you with legal action, and for one person the letter that they sent to cancel was returned. Absolutely dreadful.

This site is a total scam. They should not be allowed to take your hard earned money for a multitude of fake profiles. Then, they make you send a letter via certified Mail to halt your subscription. The address listed is not a complete address. What a crime.

50s Love is a complete scam run by Austrian criminals. Alpha Internet Services GMBH has over 200 of these fraudulent sites, all designed to steal money from your credit card account. I have reported their activities to the Austrian Financial Police, with no result. Under no circumstances should you give them your credit card details. These people are international online fraud criminals.
