In September 2025 I spent my life savings on a Mercedes GLE 7 seater, circa £41,000, purchased for use as our only family vehicle (family of 5).
7 weeks after I purchased the car, it showed a severe warning error. I reported this to A1 Ortos. After a further three months, in two separate garages, the 2nd being a Mercedes specialist, the diagnosed faults were still present and expected to cost circa £4,500 to £15,000 to fix in their entirety.
A1 Ortos has refused to comply with their obligations under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (“CRA 2015”) by repeatedly, over a matter of 10 months, refusing to accept any responsibility and fulfil their legal obligations to either repair all of the faults with the vehicle or issue a refund in accordance with the CRA 2015.
Under the CRA 2015, A1 Ortos has to prove that the faults were not present upon purchase. To date they have not been able to provide any evidence to prove that the faults were not there when they sold the vehicle to me. I have asked for this proof repeatedly and they have been unable to provide it.
Their website (upon purchase of the vehicle) stated that A1 Ortos is affiliated with the Motor Ombudsman. When raising my issues with the Motor Ombudsman they have confirmed that A1 Ortos is not a member of their organisation. A1 Ortos has also never attempted to engage or appoint ADR although asked to by me on multiple occasions.
In summary, I have purchased a car I got to drive for 7 weeks, that has now been faulty for 10 months, 7 months of which the car has been rotting at A1 Orotos’ premises whilst they refuse to fix it.
Avoid this garage at all costs if you do not want to spend a lot of money repairing a vehicle that is severely faulty on purchase or dealing with a garage that has no interest in customer service, timely responses, or consumer protection legislation.

My 2nd car purchased of A1 ortos, Tony made the whole process heasy and efficiant and he makes a good brew 👍, car was in prestine condition when i picked it up and will be buying my next car from A1 ortos when the time comes, for now im going to enjoy my new Jaguar

Recently purchased my new car here and I must say that it was an excellent experience the car I bought was perfect in excellent condition all round at a very decent price I got a good trade in value as well. Joe was spot on from start to finish not at all pushy and just left me to view the car myself but was on point with any questions I had about the vehicle I would highly recommend this car dealer and will certainly use again in the future.

As a lone woman, contemplating buying a car from a dealership I didn’t know was initially daunting but Brett took me through everything with a pleasant smile and even made me coffee, a good one at that!! Just brought a car from A1 Autos. Really nice place and great customer service couldn’t ask for more from Tony. Helpful from the very start to the finish nothing was too much bother highly recommend.
