Their programs to help seniors with insurance savings is junk. Hartford Insurance who they claim to be so good would not even insure our home due to a small claim on an older home we owned. Small cl... Ver mais

Do better, AARP! We constantly receive renewal notices although I mark down how long our "membership" is good for, and you cannot fool us! You consistently send us renewal notices for a 'discounted ra... Ver mais

AARP is a joke
AARP is a joke, a bad joke! Every discount I have tried ends up being more expensive than just going it alone! I tried the travel center to try to save money on a plane ticket to see my son. The ticket was $150 more on AARP travel center then it was just buying it on the airline website! This is the last time I will sign up for AARP. It is absolutely useless!
Think About It and Do The Research
First, a discount at Dennys, Outback and Bonefish? Isn't AARP trying to promote healthy lifestyles? Really. AARP, you gotta get real. Likewise, I'm in the insurance business. .... the Hartford. You guys are not member advocates. My suspicion is that you are a lobbying organization or a profitable organization. The jury is out. My suspicion is that the .org is just a muse or just BS. Im j not sure who you represent based upon yourpolitical leanings as an organization.
AARP backs and sells UNITEDHEALTHCARE…
AARP backs and sells UNITEDHEALTHCARE which is a shoddy company, worst prescription carrier my agent ever talked me into.
See my review on them.
The AARP endorsed auto insurance with…The Hartfod
The AARP endorsed auto insurance with The Hartford is not what they advertise. The first year the rate was about $200 less than what I was paying for Liberty Mutual. I agreed to participate in the program where they monitor your every move via cell phone (very invasive) to receive a 30% discount. I received was indeed $30% but they also raised my premium 30%!
Each year since there has been a substantial increase in premium. I am shopping around now and it looks like I will be back with Liberty Mutual for about 1/2 of what Hartford charges. I have had no citations, just increases.
AARP Membership Solicitations Caution
Though there are advantages to joining AARP worth considering, there is one aspect that should give seniors pause: mailed solicitations, junk mail and (most seriously) membership expiration notices. I have received several membership notices, the most recent in February 2025 from AARP, Long Beach, CA, to renew my AARP membership (even offering a cheap renewal reward incentive). But my AARP membership does not expire until 2028 (three years from now!) I am wondering whether this is an honest AARP mistake or an intentional solicitation hoping I am too forgetful to remember when my AARP membership expires. Please check the member expiration date on your AARP card before you purchase an unnecessary duplicate AARP membership.
AARP & Rush My Passport Horrible Partners in Crime
AARP & Rush My Passport - I have paid for services neither will render. 5 days for return calls, no on line service. Stole my expedited fees and told me to bad! Shame on both of you!!
Purchased auto insurance 2 cars and RV
Purchased auto insurance 2 cars and RV. a retired senior along with my retired wife. cheap insurance the first year and then jumped 55% a year from that point moving forward., No claims, no accidents, just an old guy trying to enjoy insurance. They punish old folks with higher rates it is a scam, and should be sued for false advertising. I dropped them after last increase. Old folks like me can't afford them and they dont want us. Tried to bundle and was even more expensive.06202024 I canceled.
AARP endorsing companies who charge…fraud/scam of AARP MEMBERS
AARP endorsing companies who charge more for their services than other companies in the same business, One example I called Hartford Insurance Company for a vehicle insurance coverage, they gave me a bid that was close to twice as much as two competitive companies, that said Hartford is endorsed by AARP who many would think are looking out for AARP members welfare, it seems that perhaps AARP kick back is too much, this message has reached AARP members and it seems there are many more companies who have AARP endorsement and also charge more than their competitors
Life Insurance denied.
I contacted AARP to apply for life insurance. They declined my application saying I was too old. I thought that was what they were about.
Are your partners giving discounts advertised?
Dear AARP, you should verify that your recommended partners, ie The Hartford, actually attempt to deliver on Senior Discounts as advertised in your mailers. I requested an auto insurance quote and it was more than double my current big name insurance rate.
Gift Card Purchases
I purchased two discounted gift cards from the AARP website after making several unsuccessful attempts. The gift cards were to be emailed to me within hours of purchasing. The website indicated that each gift card would be sent separately. I received one of the gift cards but not the second one. I phoned customer who told me it could take five to 10 business days to resolve. It has been nearly a week and I still have not received the gift card. I have requested a refund but have been told I would need to wait the five to ten business days for resolution. I would not recommend purchasing gift cards from this company.
In the Dec/24
In the Dec/24 - Jan/25 issue is an article in the UpFront/Tech section. Scan the Barcode it says. Well, the article written by Lexi Pandell, is full of misinformation. She lists 3 apps "that will help" with information using the barcodes of packaged food items. I installed the MyNetDiary app to try it out. This is a diet site with fees, not free. I did not try the other 2 sites she recommended. The article should have stated fees may be involved. I have since deleted the app.
AARP is for profit & make it difficult to CANCEL!
Tried for years, at least a decade, to cancel AARP membership aarp.org from their worthless site & magazine. They have their website set up to where they discuss click here to cancel but it doesn’t offer a way you can cancel. When you go to their community board & you type how to cancel, you can see various posts about how do I cancel and the response is always the same. Someone posts a reply with “ I’ve sent you a private message to cancel your membership”. You only see this same response, no instructions about how to direct them or anyone else to the place where you cancel. That’s because there is no place to cancel. Most people give up as I have in the past & they are stuck with this useless membership for another year. They don’t offer any discounts that one can’t get on their own. And the worse part is that they’re doing this to the very people they claim to help, Seniors! This is total fraud, with all the many companies that have gotten in trouble for this very thing, this is not an oversight. This is intentional to keep their membership numbers & subscription dollars. This is what I just posted on their site in the community pages… “Why do you make it so difficult to cancel this membership? I know my way around a website. You intentionally don’t have a place where one can just cancel their membership with just one click. People resort to leaving a message here then someone responds with a message that they’ll be sent a private message. They don’t respond in a way that other’s looking for the same information can cancel their membership as well. This is done intentionally to keep them enrolled & keep their money. Most people just give up. Well not me! I’m sick of seeing this charge every year for something I don’t want or use. I’m going to report AARP to the FTC’s website for this exact type of fraud! You can do the same at: ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Also reporting you to my state attorney’s office, and trustpilot.com. Shameful that you take advantage of the very people you claim to help! I’m not the only senior with this problem. They should not be allowed to use the .org domain extension, this is a for profit organization!
Accuses members of fraudulent activity…
Accuses members of fraudulent activity on website, I have been using my account the same way for the last decade, now all of a sudden I have fraudulent activity. Will not refund retroactively for their claim of member only services, which you do not get because they lock your account. Has turned into a total liberal rag. Goodbye.
This organization is a ripoff
This organization is a ripoff. they advertise themselves as being advocates for people 50 years of age or older, but they're not. They dangle that carrot in front of your nose all the time, trying to make you think that their choices are better than the average, but they are not. perfect example for me is the Hartford insurance scam they always promote. they brag about low rates for seniors... not true. I'm 70 years old and trying to live on social security, signed up for that Hartford scam for my homeowner's insurance AND my car insurance. after 6 months of having it, my car insurance went up $100. I don't even drive that much and have SPOTLESS driving record. no tickets or accidents for probably two decades. my current car is a 2017 and I have 45,000 miles on it. That's how little I drive. And in addition to that, after one year of having the homeowner's insurance with them, my premium went up $400 for absolutely no reason. I've made no claims. So, my advice to anyone reading this is don't waste your time or money on AARP. you will be paying a membership fee for things you don't care about, or don't use, and if you do sign up for something they offer, it doesn't live up to what it is advertised to be .... I will now be spending the next month or two trying to replace my homeowner's insurance and car insurance with someone who offers reasonable rates.
The AARP is liberal and woke
The AARP is liberal and woke. They also support DEI. I canceled my membership.
It's a liberal scam to support liberal causes.
don't use AARP recommended Insurance
I have health, life, and auto with companies that AARP recommend. called the # for unitedhealthcare, wondering why my premium was taken out this month. I cancelled it mid-november and went with a different insurance. With a cancel date of 12-31-24.
they informed me i never called in and cancelled.
SO I ENDED UP PAYING TWICE THIS MONTH FOR HEALTHCARE INS.
BEWARE united healthcare are crooks.
in fact after such a horrible experience, i will cancel/replace every insurance product i have thru AARP. THEY CLAIM TO BE ADVOCATES FOR SENIORS......HA HA!
Site has technical difficulties every day!…
Waste of time to try to get their daily discounts on gift cards. Limited number such as 5 for the thousands of people trying to get the deal or the deal becomes unavailable due to “technical difficulties”.
Went to renew with an offer of $12 one…
Went to renew with an offer of $12 one year membership but when selecting it i instead got charged $63 for a 5 !!! year membership. And the login info which they verify will not work. So I can't access my account to cancel which they promise you " can cancel anytime". So charged too much and can't access the account. And can't reach anyone by any means (phone, text, email, chat, etc.)
I purchased Medicare plan G and D from…
I purchased Medicare plan G and D from AARP endorsed united healthcare. It was a horrible experience. I switched to competitor and saved two thousand dollars annually on premiums and copays. I then dropped AARP membership.
