I wanted to provide a review of the past 7+ days with Adventure Base. I cannot provide a stronger recommendation for the experience this past week. From the organization of the expedition each day, the huts, planned acclimatization, safety, the backbone of the trip was exceptional that Olly & Charlie led. From there, the guides took over, Miha, our lead guide, Alessandro & Fernand, we could not have had a more experienced set of guides, but who were also patient, friendly, humble & supportive when we needed it over the 6 days creating a tight knit team on Gran Paradiso & Mont Blanc. Hope to have a chance to climb with them again in the future. Thank you Team Adventure Base!

I had an excellent week ski touring in the Gran Paradiso National Park. Adventure Base and Pablo our wonderful guide created a seamless week with each day tailored to our preferences. Highly recommend this beautiful area and taking a trip with Adventure Base who take the utmost care in ensuring customer happiness!

We have just returned from an amazing ski touring week in the Gran Paradiso National Park with Adventure Base.
This is one of the very best Ski touring weeks I have been on in the last 10 years.
This is not the first time we have ski toured with AB (we did the Haute Route with them last year) so we already knew how good they are at organising these sort of trips. However, this Gran Paradiso tour was something very special indeed.
Whilst we used huts during the week, there is plenty of flexibility in terms of which huts can be used and therefore huge flexibility in terms of which peaks you can summit in preparation for the 4061m high Gran Paradiso peak itself towards the end of the week.
One thing is consistent in this region though; it is not a busy place! There were days when we only saw a handful of other people and we regularly had more or less entire mountain to ourselves. Large parts of the mountain were literally un-tracked.
The huts were perhaps half empty, and with typically friendly Italian welcomes.
The geography of the area is stunning and varied so no two days are the same, whatever peaks you choose to ascend.
Our guide was Pablo (again) and he really is a first class guide. His communication skills are excellent and most importantly, he knows the area incredibly well which was a huge asset in what were sometimes changeable weather conditions. Pablo likes to get the very best out of the time we have, and also likes to to push people to get them to places that perhaps they didn't previously think possible. However, he always discussed options with us and the final decision as to what we did each day was always ours; within the confines of safety of course. Speaking of which, we have always felt totally safe being guided by Pablo. He takes great care to check all aspects of safety and he creates a sense of confidence which makes the week both enjoyable but also exciting. Again, his detailed knowledge of this area is a huge asset. He is chatty and very friendly and provides very clear guidance on more challenging sections. We had a lot of fun and laughs along the way too.
The owners of Adventure Base are one of the most customer focused teams I have ever come across in my 60 year life. Olly, Charlie and the rest of the team are excellent. Their ethos seems to stem from one simple question: "what does the customer want?" They really do ask you that all the time.
They don't try to fit you into one of their trips; they want to build a trip around what YOU want to do.
On the Gran Paradiso tour that level of customer service and flexibility from the owners of AB, together with the excellent Pablo, made for a fabulous week.
We felt that the effort the entire AB crew made (from pre booking talks, right through to the final day drinks together) to ensure that we had the very best week possible, was quite unique in this industry (having toured with several other companies over the years).
Thank you to all of you for a weeks ski touring that I will remember and cherish forever!
There is so much variety within this National Park that I am sure we will visit this area with AB again.

Dear Olly, my son and I had a terrific time in the excellent and very enjoyable hands of your guide Miha. After training hard for several months, it was very disappointing to have our trip reduced by losing both the Argentiere and Trient huts at the beginning of the Haute Route due to equipment failure of the photographer, who joined our trip, and to lose the last day from vignette hut to Zermatt which we had so looked forward to. As a result, we only completed three of the planned six huts. It’s unlikely that my son and I will have the opportunity to do the Haute Route again, a real shame. I don’t criticise the guide and his decision-making and we support him. It was unfortunate that equipment failure of a cameraman who joined us, caused us to turn back. The skills of the group were reasonably diverse and so were the fitness levels. I wonder if there is a way to grade skills prior to the trip, perhaps along the lines of 1. fitness, 2. skiing ability, and 3. Mountaineering skills? No attempt before the trip was made to assess these essential skills. If any group’s skills were more closely aligned, similar disappointments to ours would be less likely.
Whilst I understand you have to run a business, the tension created by needing to accept people on the trip (necessary income) versus being more discerning and selective is a difficult balance. I do not wish to be too critical, I’m trying to be constructive here, and I must add that we did still have a terrific experience, despite our disappointment.

Matt and the Mountaineering Company team delivering the course in Wales were superb. They had checked our goals and reasons ahead of time. We discussed these and were able to tailor the course to our specific abilities and needs.

Advice on kit selection, use and experience tips were invaluable at our end of day cake and coffee wrap ups - best way to end each day !

Accommodation at the Rocks Hostel was excellent

Following on with consecutive 3 days of Alpine Prep allowed us to consolidate skills and better experience a longer duration of the mountain time we will have on our Mont Blanc Trip

Highly recommend the course and feel very prepared for Mont Blanc

Adventure Base and in particular, our guide Morgan Salen made our ski tour to the Lyngen Alps one of the best adventures of my life. We were extremely lucky with the weather, but Morgan guided us to, up and down the best routes on the best snow every day. Fantastic accommodation, food, activities and company. I cannot rate either Morgan or Adventure Base any higher. Cheers guys.

Haute Route, great trip, iconic for a reason, fantastic guide, had the challenge, and more, I expected, 4 days great weather added to the experience - well done Adventure Base

What an epic experience........

Adventure Base were excellent in providing us all the information we need prior to arrival in Chamonix. On arrival we met our guide Pablo who was absolutely amazing the whole trip. His communication between the 6 members of our group was excellent and he guided our mixed abilities to the finish with composure and skill!

We look forward to booking our next trip with Adventure Base.

Just back from Haute Route. A fantastic 2 days acclimatisation with guide (Daniel) followed by 6 days trip with Miha. A great balance of safety, fun and adventure. Great huts with plenty of food. Something I will remember for ever.

We’re just back from an excellent guided ski tour of the Haute Route. From the moment of getting to Chamonix the Adventure Base team look after you. Our guide Pablo was exceptional and always kept the group safe, informed and happy! Would highly recommend to anyone considering this trip.

What an amazing course!
From start to finish it was well structured and well delivered.
Our guide Kyriakos was superb and his attention to detail was great.
The course is designed to introduce skiers to off piste skiing, to safely navigate off piste, reading slope angles, types of snow and the different techniques necessary on different types of snow covering.
Avalanche rescue was covered in detail with time spent of using equipment correctly and effectively.
Ample time was spent skiing off piste and exploring under the every watchful eye of Kyriakos who gave constructive feedback on improving your technique.
The small group all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had all improved their ski technique 10 fold by the end of the three days.
Thanks to all at Adventure Base for putting together such a great course.
I'm looking forward to joining you again on another adventure soon.

Amazing, Informative course with Exceptional guides, It’s added another dimension to my trekking life having never navigated over snow and ice before

North Wales Mountaineering Intro

This was my first experience of mountaineering. Matt, Tom and Sam are great guys, brilliant instructors and very experienced climbers. It was 3 long and hard days of climbing in wet and windy conditions but incredibly satisfying afterwards. I would highly recommend this course if you are interested in starting your journey in mountaineering.

Had a lot of fun learning and trying out new skills. Left feeling confident and eager to try them out on my next endeavour.
Guides were supportive, knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent customer service also - responding promptly to enquiries and being flexible when necessary.

Excellent Chamonix- based company with very knowledgable and experienced guides.
We did a short Autumn Skills trip - learnt a broad range of skills which will be massively useful both for future solo trips and also guided alpine summit trips.

Booked the North Wales mountaineering intro via Adventure Base. It was a brilliant three days despite hard conditions (obvs it rained a lot, it was October after all). It was very challenging, with each day building up the difficulty level to keep pushing your limits. Tom, Sam and Matt were really great guides. They kept the energy up when we were tired; they kept us calm when things were difficult; and they were incredibly patient. They have a wealth of knowledge, really love the mountains, and they're keen to share it with you and inspire you to get out there. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will hopefully have a chance to climb with them again. Thanks guys.

Went through Adventure Base for the TMB Highlights Tour. Communication and bookings were easy, everything was super professional. Logistics were well noted ahead of time and planned out for the trek. Our guide (Tom) was fantastic - great to hang with, professional, and kept the speed/energy of the group in mind with everything we did. Would recommend Adventure Base to anybody looking to do anything they have options for!

Adventure Base planned and booked accommodation for my Tour du Mont Blanc hike this summer. Everything was just excellent! Highly recommend!

This was the first time I booked through Adventure Base and it exceeded my expectations. I will definitely book further courses/trips with them.
From start to finish it was all done very professionally and the guide Matt was full of useful information and pushed where appropriate so that I got the best from Alpine Preparation course.

I booked a weeks alpine trip with adventure base and from the initial contact through to the very experienced guides, every aspect was handled really well and made the whole experience more enjoyable as everything was taken care of, allowing me to simply enjoy the experience. I will definitely be using their services again.
