Aftercare was wonderful and…

Aftercare was wonderful and compassionate with me after going through traumatic loss of a younger family member. They made the organ donation process very clear and kept in good contact with me about what everything was going on along the way. 5 weeks later they sent a very nice package to explain exactly what happens to the tissue donations also that we did. With pamphlets for grief counseling and a really nice book about how to deal with grief. They were very good to work with

This was a stressful time

This was a stressful time and After always answered my questions, even when I asked them over again. They always ndw where my wife was during the entire cremaion process. And they kept me informed of all important mileposts and delivered on their promises.

Relieving

My daughter and I were thoroughly satisfied with the way our questions were answered. Gabriel Jimenez laid out everything that's involved in the cremation so simple that we were surprised that it was NOT so involved, as funeral arrangements are. Kate Costa walked through any questions we had.She gave us her personal number and asked us to call her any time,which we did. When she did not answer, she called us back right away in a timely manner. We ALWAYS felt connected and involved.

After is there for you

Working with After was easy, streamlined and my contact person was extremely helpful. I appreciated the ease of completing paperwork, the ability to complete it online, and I only received a few follow up calls asking clarifying questions. This was a good thing during a most painful time.

Guidance unmatched

After.com made everything seemless. They took care of all the work for us and notified everyone who had to be. Never having to deal with this before, After.com helped me immensely. They gave us detailed explanations of the process and kept us updated during this difficult time.

Simple process with sympathetic team

I appreciate that me and my kids got to choose a few items of sentimental value to be cremated with my husband.
And it was so nice that his ashes were delivered to my home by a very nice and sympathetic lady.

Such a blessing working with After.com

We feel so fortunate to have found After.com following the death of our sister.. Isaac made it effortless at a sad and confusing time. He was so wonderful to work with. Not only was he understanding and experienced but he was compassionate, kind and always helpful. He returned my calls within minutes which I so appreciated. For such a sad time...it was a wonderful experience working with Isaac at After.com.

I deeply regret choosing this company

I deeply regret choosing this company. From the very beginning it was nearly impossible to get a hold of my designated "care specialist" James. Multiple unanswered phone calls and voice mails just to make initial contact. It took me insisting that I be put in touch with a different specialist to get a call from James.
But the worst part was waiting five weeks for my mother's ashes. I made so many phone calls inquiring about delivery of the ashes, and every single time I got a different excuse why the delivery couldn't be set up. It took a threat of suing them for emotional damage (which I still may do) to get a delivery of her ashes. A delivery of which they did not "plan" with me. Fortunately my adult son happened to be home at the time to take the unexpected delivery.
I laid awake many nights over the last three weeks wondering if they even HAD my mother's remains, or if they had dumped them in the river or something.
Never ever ever again. Buyer beware.

And to clarify- when I finally got her ashes it said she had been cremated three weeks prior to eventual delivery. I ended up burying an empty urn (a month after her death which I had thought would be plenty of time). Now I have to go back to the cemetery and have them retroactively add her ashes to the urn we buried at her service.
Now to secure her death certificates from After.com....

Update- the response from After.com claims that they were waiting for a private urn delivery. Early in the process I asked James if I could ship my own urn for my mother's ashes to be placed in. He did not know but promised to "get back to me" on this, which he NEVER did. Consequently I did not pursue this as an option and the concept of using an urn purchased by me was never a part of the equation or any conversation about the delay in delivery of ashes.
I ended up having to transfer my mother's ashes to the urn I purchased for her *after* we had placed the urn in the niche.

I want to sincerely apologize for the stress and disappointment you experienced. Families come to us in moments of deep vulnerability, and you deserved steady, compassionate care.
To clarify: your mother came into our care on July 19th, services were finalized with James on July 24th and paid on July 30th. In addition, your family requested her remains be placed in a chosen urn that did not arrive to us until after August 12th which would prevent us from beginning the delivery process until after that date. That logistical delay contributed to the timing here, but the bigger issue was our communication. You should never have had to chase us for answers, or feel uncertain about your mother’s care.
At After.com, our values focus on creating effortless experiences. In your case, we missed that mark. We are already addressing the gaps in communication and delivery coordination so other families do not go through the same experience and we’re grateful for your feedback because it helps us improve.
