We had a great guide, Christina (spelling?). She was passionate about Puglia, she was personable, helpful, kind and fun to be with.
I appreciated the tours of various towns in Puglia, the lectures before dinner, the winery and olive mill. We had great guides in the various places - Nadia, Stefania, and another whose name escapes me at this moment.
My room was lovely with a view to the Adriatic Sea. I appreciated your accommodation of my vegetarian diet. I only wish the room had Ben ready when we arrive early in the morning. Sometimes the hotels accommodate that she. They know you’re arriving early from an international flight. Still the staff offered us coffee and water, and were vey pleasant that morning and overall.

The meals were delicious in a beautiful breakfast room; breakfast was varied and plentiful.

We had a great small group of tourists and once could engage with each one over the time of travel together. The bus was comfortable and we had a lovely bus driver too.

Christina definitely enriched our tour and I will think of her when I think of our trip.

Generally good staff to set up the trip payments, excursions, and schedule. Clear booking process.

Needed earlier info on the ship, the extra cash required for Directors tips, dinner dress. Airport pickup missed in spite of receiving new flight info several times.

Well organized from stateside to end of trip. Our guide for the entire trip was OUTSTANDING. Super organized, funny, attentive, very knowledgeable across a broad range of topics. Each local guide well educated and informative. A lot of work goes into making those things look seamless.

Everything about this trip was excellent with the exception of some of the guides on the excursions. The directors who ran the trip and were on the boat were truly outstanding. The service was wonderful and the weight staff was truly fantastic. Entertainment was great. Food was awesome. All I can say is I love this trip it was one of the finest I have ever taken.

The centralized location for the hotel and the choice of daily excursions were right on.

From making airline reservations to personal attention from Antonio during the trip AHI did a great job on our trip to Umbria.

The trip was well organized from departure to return. Umbria was a new part of Italy for me and the trip certainly introduced me to one of the lovely areas of Italy. Most of the sites were from the Medieval period of history and was most interesting as most of the churches were romanesque with its characteristic arches. I had previously worked off and on in Italy but mainly in Milan and Rome. This was a delightful trip in that it was some what after the Roman Empire. One of the main points of the trip was that we stayed in an exceptionally nice hotel in Perugia for the entire tour with daily excursions to see the main points of Umbria. Our tour guide, Antonio Mattesini, did an excellent job herding about 30 folks with attachment to the Duke University Alumni Association. He got us to places efficiently and had local guides who presented their towns and sights exceptionally well. Language was not a problem at all during the chaperoned portions of the tour. For me, the attraction besides the region visited was that it allowed singles without a single up charge. It also did not require a daily bag drag to the next town or location. The tour compared favorably to a cruise where you unpack only once. We had a variety of places visited. The most fun was the visit to a vineyard where the group made a portion of our lunch by making pasta and bread. It was a very enjoyable activity and the al fresco lunch was equally enjoyable. Meeting folks who are associated with Duke as alumni and/or spouse was an added plus as we spanned about 40 years of Duke existence with interesting remembrances of our times on campus. Finally, AHI did an exceptional job of keeping me informed about the trip. Thanks to Katy Wiese for booking the flights that went well despite the fuel rationing which caused a day delay returning to my home. It all went smoothly mostly to Katy choosing the flights she did in the first place. Felicia Quezada was the AHI person trip coordinator. She did a great job. I am the type of person who needs to know what to expect throughout the whole process. Felicia did exceptionally well at either providing quick and concise answers or assuring that the information would be available at a certain point of the process (and it was). AHI was very thorough from the initial application for the tour throughout the entire lead up and execution of the tour. I am normally not a high grader but AHI deserves the top grade for this trip to Umbria. I look forward to again traveling with them through Duke Travels program.

The greatest part of the experience was the care and helpfulness of the guides; particularly, Alan and Diogo. Also, the itinerary was well thought out and interesting.

Four travel directors from different backgrounds who worked well together. All of the travelers seemed very satisfied.

Food was 5 star. Enjoyed the courses and modest, just right portions. Travel directors were top class. Enjoyed their flexibility. They seemed to enjoy their jobs and, more importantly, enjoy working with each other as a team.

First of all, you chose Amadeus Amara. The rooms were comfortable, there were plenty of outlets to charge our telephones, I pads, etc. I worried about that since the outlets have undergone a change in the last few years. The cleaning team was great, came twice a day. The waiters were professional and never personal, yet they were like your best friend or indulging aunt. The Tour director, the hotel manager, the dining room chief were all personal, yet professional and stayed on top of things. We are used to traveling in 4-5 star hotels, and I would give the ship a 4-5 plus!

Cannot say enough about the AHI tour directors. All four of them were "there for you" but not in your face. Caring, but not intrusive. Particularly at first, it was like leading a bunch of cats as the saying goes since the ship's demographic was composed of people who are used too being the captiain of their own ship and found it a bit difficult to yield procedure to the tour directors...the directions to work as a team and not run off with room keys or keep their day passes were given insistingly but courteously. It was interesting to watch them handle multiple difficult, ticklish situations with grace, humor, and firmness.

Communication pre-trip was great, clear, to the point. I had occasion to panic a bit because we were delayed at baggage claim and I was concerned about missing the pick up. I called, which would have been in the middle of the night state side and was reassured, and told what to do about it.

We had taken an AHI land trip before, years ago, but it was a land tour and not as complicated as the cruise ship trip. My husband and I were awed at how many working pieces there were that had to be coordinated and how seemingly easily it was all done by the ship's staff and AHI tour director. The fact that they made it all sound easy and effortless what impressed us. Their caring made out trip care free.

We are definitely planning to take another AHI trip next year!

I thought the meat onboard was tough, except for the last night's meal.

Best tour leaders ever! Caring, organized and personable. Can’t praise them enough.

The coordination and execution of details of the Malta/Sicily trip were very professionally done. Our guide, Dragan, truly made the trip special. He is engaging, witty, extremely caring, and we always felt that we were in safe and very capable hands with him as our leader.

Great guides for all the places we went. Fred was awesome keeping us coordinated.
