I’m writing this review absolutely livid and deeply disappointed after my recent experience with Aqua Planet Dive Centre and Charter – Protea Banks.
On 31st March 2025, I reached out to them via both WhatsApp and email to inquire about shark dives. Their WhatsApp number (as listed on their website) was unresponsive. I eventually got a reply via email and managed to speak with Stephanie by phone. I clearly explained that I was only available to dive on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and asked to be informed the moment a dive was scheduled on those days.
A week passed with no follow-up. I had to chase them down myself, and was finally informed about a dive scheduled for Friday, 11th April. I made arrangements and drove down to the Ski Boat Club in Shelly Beach.
The dive master, Brian, arrived late. However, the dive itself was fantastic — I would recommend Protea Banks as a dive site for any shark lovers.
After the dive, Brian confirmed directly with me that they’d be diving again the next morning – Saturday, 12th April – same time, same place. I double-checked this with him. He said “yes.”
The next day, I showed up — and there was no dive, no communication, nothing. I called Brian from 7 a.m. with no response. An hour later, I called Stephanie, who casually told me, “Oh no, we’re diving at Aliwal today.”
This was a complete waste of time, fuel, and energy due to entirely avoidable miscommunication.
🔴 Their WhatsApp doesn’t work
🔴 The dive master doesn’t answer his phone
🔴 Their communication is poor and unprofessional
As an SSI Dive Instructor with several years of experience working for Barra Reef Divers, I’m shocked at how this dive centre is run.
Aqua Planet Dive Centre failed miserably. Divers expect — and deserve — better.
Avoid this dive centre if you value your time and want a professional experience.
