Learnt so much during my interior design course and the tutors / student services were helpful!

The course so far has been fun and easy to follow with a lot of time to be able to work on my own time. Great tutors who are always there to help; always friendly and polite with great feedback and helpful tips. My tutors have been Joana and Rita who both have very helpful and friendly which is a big point for me who has anxiety and social struggles.
One thing I wish there was a onsite campus or library for students to have access to.

I’m currently studying the classroom-based HND course at BAID, and it’s been an excellent experience. The tutors are knowledgeable and supportive, and the course is well-structured with a great mix of theory and hands-on projects. The online tutors are very prompt with their responses, and their feedback on assignments is clear and informative, helping me improve my skills. I highly recommend BAID to anyone looking to build a career in interior design!

I have been studying the BTEC course at the British Academy of Interior Design for a year, and I would like to share my experience.

I chose this course primarily for its flexibility—you can study whenever and wherever suits you. As a parent of a young child with an unpredictable sleep pattern, this was the only realistic option for me at the moment.

Overall, I have found the course helpful and feel that I have made progress in interior design. It is also quite affordable compared to other courses in the UK. However, you get what you pay for. If you choose the basic option, the support from tutors is quite limited. You receive a 30-minute FAQ session per unit, along with access to a forum where you can ask questions, as well as tutor support via email.

One downside is that the course is not very visually engaging. It is mainly text-based, with only a few short videos and no recorded lessons. Although tutors respond fairly quickly, most do not read questions carefully and provide only brief answers, which often lack depth. As a result, you may need to follow up multiple times for clarification.

Another challenge is lack of regular feedback. You only receive feedback at the end of an assignment, which could be after 70–150 hours of work. This means that if you have misunderstood something, you might not realise it until you have already invested a significant amount of time.

Studying a BTEC at BAID is quite challenging, even for someone like me who has prior experience in interior design. I have studied the subject through various courses in both my home country and the UK, so I initially expected to complete this course more quickly. However, after a year, I have only completed about a quarter of it, and I am unsure whether I will be able to finish within the three-year timeframe allowed by the academy’s policy.

While my English meets the required level, writing numerous essays in English has been more difficult than I anticipated.

If you are considering enrolling, I would recommend choosing one of the more expensive options that include online or in-person lessons. Also, think carefully about whether you truly need such a flexible course. If you have the option to attend a traditional interior design course, you may benefit from greater tutor support and interaction with peers.

I am really enjoying this course. The modules have been very interesting. However, self study is not for the faint hearted. It would be more digestible if there were more video tutorials rather than lengthy wordy tutorials. Other than that, the tutors are very responsive and give alot of guidance.

About a decade after completing my master’s degree in International Marketing Management, I decided to make a career pivot and pursue my passion for interior design. Enrolling in the Higher National Diploma in Interior Design at BIAD has been such a great decision, and I’m really happy with my experience so far.

Even though I’m only about 4-5 months into the program (roughly 25% completed), I’ve already learned so much—things I know I wouldn’t have picked up as quickly if I had just tried to “learn by doing” on my own. The course is well-structured, covering both the creative and technical sides of design, and the assignments feel practical and relevant.

One of the highlights for me has been my tutor, Rita Marques. She’s been supportive, providing valuable feedback and always answering my questions clearly and quickly, which has made a big difference in my learning experience. Having a tutor who genuinely engages and provides helpful feedback has been really valuable.

I also love the flexibility of the course. Being able to attend online and work at my own pace has made it much easier to balance my studies with other commitments. It’s given me the freedom to really absorb the material while still progressing steadily.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the program, and I feel like it’s setting me up with the right skills and knowledge to build a career in interior design. If you’re considering a structured, well-supported online course in interior design, I’d definitely recommend BIAD!

British Academy of Interior Design was always very supporting at every step of the way. From assignment guidance provided from the tutors to any technical or administrative queries, the team is always helpful willing to assist in a good time frame.
The academy provides you with a great amount of knowledge, useful books recommendations , readings and self-learning and growing possibilities, such are the student membership at the BIID, which gives you the opportunity to visit CPD courses and also student free entrance for many major design exhibitions.
Learning while having a family in such a dynamically changing environment it is not easy but the Academy made sure I have the full support leading to a successful graduation. Thank you

I'm really enjoying the course material, and get lots of support from the Course Tutors and Student Services Advisors. They're really responsive and helpful whenever I have any questions.

Overall my experience is very positive. The tutors are extremely helpful and respond quickly to queries, in a clear manner. The fact that the course is home study is great as it means you can study at your own pace without pressure. There is also lots of learning material available in the lessons for each unit.
However, I do find the course assignments can be a little repetitive and lengthy sometimes, which makes it harder to remain motivated and could easily cause confusion. However despite this, it means your learning is thorough, so I would certainly recommend the course to others!

I am currently studying the Interior Design HNC course online, and it has been a fantastic learning experience. Before enrolling, I had already studied interior design in a different country and have been working in the field for three years. Despite my experience, I am still learning a lot from this course, which provides valuable insights and practical knowledge that I can apply directly to my work.

The online learning system is well-structured, informative, and easy to navigate. I especially appreciate that the assignments are practice-oriented, allowing students to develop real-world skills rather than just theoretical knowledge. My tutor, Catarina, is incredibly supportive—her feedback on assignments is detailed and constructive, and she always responds to questions promptly.

I love the detail of the resources for each assignment, they're very helpful.
My tutor is approachable and gives prompt answers via email. I would love the possibility of scheduling calls, sometimes. Some things are better explained over a call.
The course is tough and requires a lot of time, but I believe it prepares very well for the profession

I have just enrolled on the Graphic Design Diploma with B.A.I.D From the very 1st contact I have found them to be extremely informative and helpful, answering the many questions I have had in deciding which course would suit me best, their expertise has been invaluable. I cannot fault their response time and their professionalism. I am looking forward to beginning the Diploma course, safe in the knowledge that the tutor is always on hand to guide me further.
