I am new to the HND learning platform and having just retired somewhat unfamiliar with the learning processes that BAPH use. Mariana, my coach helped me enormously in working my through the issues I encountered and I was so happy with the final results achieved.

They offer plenty of flexibility and understanding of circumstances. I just started a couple of weeks ago, but the course seems to provide a professional perspective on photography, so much harder to find than just "learning photography".

I have a great experience while studying at the British Academy of Photography.
All the team has been really helpful during this time and the feedback receive from my tutor as made grown as a photographer.

I have recently completed my Higher National Diploma in Photography with the British Academy of Photography.

This is an intensive course demanding a high level of commitment and dedication. I recognised the workload early on, I made the decision to reduce my working hours to three days a week, allowing me to focus more on my studies. I was able to complete the HND in under two years my initial intention was to continue on the degree program and complete remaining 15 assignments. Unfortunately, due to procedural change during my studies, I am now part of a cohort awaiting the next enrolment date.

The HND program is rigorous and academic in nature, requiring a substantial investment of time and effort. Approximately 85% of the course entails writing and documenting, with only 15% dedicated to actual photography practice. This course may not be the most suitable choice if your aspirations are to refine photographic skills this emphasizes theoretical aspects over practical application.

Reading materials are provided for each task, these serve merely as a starting point; additional research and supplementary reading are often necessary. Each assignment may necessitate the purchase of props or materials, be prepared for small additional expenses.

Throughout my journey, I was fortunate to have the guidance of an excellent tutor, Hugo, whom I could readily consult, thought out he was very supportive and invaluable in addressing my concerns and navigating through assignments.

Overall, I found great fulfilment in my two years of study. As I contemplate my next steps, I am weighing the option of waiting for the next cohort enrolment date or pursuing the third year full-time at university.

This is well-structured and comprehensive course and I would recommend it.

I am currently complete my Lev.4 Post Graduate Diploma at the British Academy of Photography. I am thoroughly enjoying it! The assignments are laid out in an easy format with lots of access to resources and content, in a logical and easy accessible manner. My tutor Hugo is fantastic and provides helpful feedback to be successful and work is marked in a timely manner. Looking forward to the next steps on my creative journey.

An introductory presentation was offered to those that were interested, and here we had an interactive Q & A with a selection of tutors and past students.

This was very useful and gave me the impetus to sign up for the Diploma course which is distance learning. The time frame to complete is generous; I started when I was employed, this was needed. I am continuing now that I am retired.

Distance learning is challenging and the learning outcomes require you to prove a good standard of competency. It is clear that the tutors will respond to any type of question via their portal and the feedback on the Assignments are very good in providing direction to improve technical skill and creativity.

Face to face contact and online tutor seminars, are offered during my Diploma at additional cost but worth knowing. The 'dashboard/ messaging/forum style suits me at the moment. The Assignments are interesting but also challenging, so it good to know there are other communication routes.

I have just completed the first of fifteen assignments as part of the Post Graduate Diploma in Photography course. I have really enjoyed the course to date, though I have had to overcome many barriers during the process. The first being navigating my way through the technical aspects of digital photography, particularly understanding camera settings, accessing and eventually manipulating images using post production software. This really was a steep learning curve.

However, I soon overcame the barriers with the unconditional support from both my academic and photography tutors. Their patience, encouragement and passion for the subject, motivated and inspired me with a new found confidence. The regular practical exercises and completing the assignment gave me invaluable opportunities to use and apply the theoretical knowledge in a context of real-world situations which really consolidated my understanding of the technical aspects.

What has really made the course so enjoyable is the face to face meetings. They are set in a safe, conjecturing environment with really valuable interactive discussions where everyone respects and supports where we all are on our journey. My online personal tutor is really supportive with clear, concise constructive development points and advice when needed. As a result, I have felt really encouraged to explore and push creative boundaries.

Overall, despite the initial challenges I faced. The interactive nature of the course, the outstanding teaching during face to face meetings and the online course materials, alongside the unconditional support of my online tutor, I now have a greater understanding and feel confident, excited, inspired and motivated to move onto assignment two with courage and conviction!

My British Academy of Photography experience so far has been incredibly positive. When researching which course to take to broaden my photography horizons, I quickly decided that BAPH was the one for me. The courses they offer are varied and suitable for all levels of experience - hoping to change my career entirely, I chose the BTEC Higher National Diploma, which will allow me not only to grow my skills, but also enter into the world of professional photography upon successful completion. My course tutor Mariana has been wonderful, very helpful and approachable, she has an abundance of patience and answers my every question with clarity and understanding. The student advisors I initially contacted about the course were also incredibly friendly and forthcoming. I highly recommend BAPH to anybody on the fence about furthering their skills or career!

I am completely passionate when it comes to photography. When I was researching for what photography
course was the best for me,to go on, The British Academy Of Photography stood out against many other training courses! I have been through a lot of emotional set backs with bereavement. I was in a panic thinking how I could go on with the course. The staff have been my rock when it came to supporting me emotionally and practically. I recieved a comforting condolence 🙏 card signed by the staff. I am on the mend.Now I am fresh focused and continuing my course.Thank you!!!!x

Get Ready to be Challenged in a good way!
The assignments are interesting but they are comprehensive and require time and effort. however the tutor support is fantastic. There are video tutorial options for each unit and you can email your personal tutor with any worries or problems. All three of the tutors I have been in contact with have been Helpful.
I am doing the HND course just to learn about photography and keep me picking up my camera, however the course would also be excellent if you are looking at changing career.

Happy to hear you had a great experience however, I can't say the same. First of all, the online library and material they provide is not really efficient in my opinion, it is not level 5 or 4, it is not even level 3. Secondly, I always had to wait at least one month to get a feedback about my assignments (while repeatedly reminding them). I did my best to complete the course. This is not the end, I asked them whether I had to contact the University directly however, University of Chester said they would never renew anything with them as incompetent and shortsighted in the material (higher education) they are trying to provide to their students. Everyone needs to starts from 1 year of Uni, because their courses have no value. I reached out for explanations and their response was that “it is mandatory for the students to make an application directly with the University”. I waisted months which I could have invested in the studies. Not to think about the money invested in this institution which is not serious, competent, nor reliable. Just an advice, those who think about starting their online course, please think twice, and go with NPS.

UPDATE

I have been talking with students and this is a disaster. One, living in London claiming she will graduate with BA, bc they school told her Level 4 is equally with level 6! Another was believing she is going to Uni Chester, but they told her it would never happen so she can stop claiming it on her LinkedIn profile!!! Other was introduced to someone in Dublin, claiming that the school is outside the UK jurisdiction, so ask them do their courses mean anything? But they are based in London, so what is going on???
Finally the best from the best, they told someone that she would never get to any Uni anyway, so they always give that person only Pass, while another even didn't meet criteria to pass and got distinction. The person shared copy of review from tutors clueless about photography per se. Wow 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳
How this school did open another branch - British Academy of Digital Marketing???
And, finally the saddest thing Post grad costs like golden 🕳️ and leads to none recognition, while other schools (apart from Uni) offers full qualifications with Level 8. Yes, it means nothing and you pay for nothing, and no one see it as anything.
And people believe it will lead to work in London. London give a s£ about it. Skills and awards are the key, not phony diploma, and they are saying it.

Great course. I have thoroughly enjoyed researching all the various subjects covered in the HND course. The tutors are always on hand to answer any problems you may have understanding the assignments. So go for it!

I am currently enrolled in the BA (Hons) Degree in Photography and I am really enjoying it. Despite its time-consuming nature and the high level of dedication required, this program is an excellent choice for aspiring photographers seeking to elevate their craft to a professional level. The tutors are very helpful and I can only recommend it!

As someone who loves photography but has very little confidence in herself, I'd been searching for some time trying to find somewhere where I could learn more when it comes to photography. I approached my local colleges but was told I was told old to join (I'm 35🙈🤣)
So I went online and came across British Academy of Photography. I thought their site looked really good so got in contact and received a response that day. They gave me lots of information, were open and honest about pricing and weren't pushy at all to encourage me to join which was great!
I signed up for the diploma to study at home as that was perfect for me to work around the little ones.
So far I've loved every second of it. I'm 3/4 of the way through and even though it's hard in places it's been worthwhile with their amazing support network. You have your own tutor to contact when you get stuck plus a FB page and forum on their site. Anytime I've asked questions, I've had a quick response and have never been made to feel silly. I ask a lot of daft questions but the tutors have been amazing (Hugo in particular is a credit to the team) and no one makes me feel like an idiot.
There's also working opportunities advertised while you study so you have an opportunity to get hands on experience too.

I already feel a lot more confident with my camera so would highly recommend British Academy of Photography to anyone who wants to become a professional photographer or anyone who wants to expand their learning. It's worth every penny!

Since enrolling in the Higher National Certificate, the online course at the British Academy of Photography, everything has changed for the better. Not only have I learned a great deal, but at my own pace, I've also adopted a professional rhythm unlike anything I've experienced before. The Academy has provided me with more than just knowledge of lighting styles or camera setups; it offers a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to become a great photographer.
The assignments can be intense, but what would be the point if learning weren't challenging?
My tutors, Hugo and Gabriela, consistently provide invaluable feedback that is both constructive and supportive. I sincerely appreciate their unwavering assistance. Moreover, the Academy has supported me during difficult times, and I'm genuinely grateful.

My Photography Course has pushed me more then I would have ever pushed myself. Yes it was challenging at times, but it has taught me to research, critically analyse information and develop my own skills.
Having looked at my photographs from the start of the course to the ones I took recently, I can see a huge progress in my skills, my vision and my expression. All of this is thanks to what I have learned on the course. I also liked how I could fit my studies with my job and a busy family life.

The constructing of the Assignments Brief are very solid in terms of practicality and information assembling. The tutors and support team are very helpful and easy to reach if any confusion occurs.
