Cheating users again: witholding sleep data from users
Once upon a time, there was a clinical grade sleep tracker that was an easy to use headband, scientifically validated, and most of all, it gave all the sleep staging to the users themselves. The name was Dreem 2. Then they tried to make more money: founded a separate enterprise and castrated the headband to be useful for sleep apnea only and even this small function was prescription only. Game over for users wanting good sleep data for their own health. Now, the newest iteration of this drama is the Dreem 3s, rebranded to Waveband and sold to Beacon. Users were dreeming (misspelling intended :-) to get back the real device that gives the sleep tracking data to themselves. But users are cheated again for their hopes and their trust in this line of clinically validated and FDA approved devices: This time only the researchers get the data, the users are left out again. When will we users get back what we want and what we had and what we loved? What shall we do when paying almost 1000$ like at that time for the Dreem 2 is today not enough to get any valid, polysomnography-equivalent device? Shall we buy the Oura ring, which doesn't even see a single brainwave but states about sleep stages defined by brainwaves...? Dear Beacon CEO, please understand that users feel cheated for their hopes bc of your withholding of our own sleep data. Be so kind to open a little door to us, where users of sufficient understanding can get a brain waves based sleep tracker that delivers us polysomnography-equivalent data, from which we can infer how much time we spend in different sleep stages. You will receive all honours: good reviews, money from our purchases, good publicity in forums, ...
If it is easier for you, you can call it a trial :-)
