Secured funding for the purchase of a historic company in Sheffield which otherwise would have been closed down after almost 150 years of trading. The team have been second to none with their help and guidance throughout the whole process. The staff are a real credit to the company; genuine people with a really personal edge. I can’t praise them enough for all their help in making this purchase happen.

My experience with this company has been extremely concerning. My application has been ongoing for almost two months, despite me repeatedly asking important questions about the delay. The person dealing with my application, who introduced herself as Sanni, became extremely angry when I questioned why the process was taking so long and abruptly ended the call.

I find this behaviour completely unacceptable, particularly when I had already provided personal identification, paperwork and other sensitive information as part of the application. Customers should be able to ask legitimate questions about their applications without being spoken to in this manner or having the phone put down on them.

At this stage, I have serious concerns about the professionalism, communication and transparency of this company. I would strongly advise anyone considering using them to think very carefully, verify who they are dealing with, understand exactly how their personal documents will be handled, and get clear answers about the application process before providing sensitive information.

Based on my experience, I would not use this company again and cannot recommend them to anyone else.

Inflexible. Unhelpful. As if they are reading from a script rather than actually offering any advice or help with your applications.

I applied for a loan with the British Business Bank but it is BEF that have been put in charge of my application.

After spending lots of time filling in forms and going back over business plans and cash flow forecasts and the like, I have decided to go with a different lender as BEF are completely inflexible and don't understand the concept of a business that isn't selling items from a shop or giving haircuts. They don't seem to be able to understand that selling bespoke design services is not something that can be squeezed into their templates despite the website making clear that their templates don't have to be used.
After filling in the documents to the best of my ability, I was asked to fill them in again in a different format despite the explanations being very clear in the documents uploaded.

It's a shame that this is the only government option for providing business loans as it could be done SO much better.

The Enterprise Business Fund is a cruel company disguising itself as a company thats there to help.
They will loan your business not even the amount you applied for by fraudulently adjusting their paperwork.
They will call it a 'business loan' though it very much is a personal loan. It will damage your credit rating, it will prevent your borrowing/mortgage options, they will go do debt collection if you miss a payment, regardless of how your business is doing. Do NOT be fooled by these people.
