They are a scam.

I received a notice that I needed to pay $271 to stay in compliance with WA state taxes. I thought it was a business tax that I owed. Once I paid, I realized it was from Bizefy and NOT the State of WA. The way they presented was deceptive as it has the State of WA seal and logo, and was written in a threatening manner that my business license was in jeopardy if I did not "come into compliance." I am a VERY small business, and am still learning all the requirements of having a small business. I thought I had forgotten to register something with the State of Washing. Basically $271 to sign up for some report I don't need from the State of WA. I wish I could get my money back, but not sure how.

To clarify for you and other readers: Bizefy is a private, third-party compliance service. Our notices do not use the state seal or state branding. We are not the State of Washington or any government agency. The amount covered preparing and filing your Washington Annual Report including the state's fee as well, a yearly filing required for active businesses registered with the Secretary of State. It is not a tax, and you can always file it directly with the state on your own.

Deceptive Company - File yourself for free.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They send emails and mail seeming like they are the state and you need to file through them, charging $150. They are not a scam, they will file your forms, but they are deceiving their customers by not informing them you can file for free directly through the state. It is just as easy to do it yourself for free than to use them. I fell for it once, and I am trying to make sure others do not make the same mistake. Save yourself $150 and go to your state website and file for free.

Scraping publically accessible information on an LLC to send a letter offering to file yearly report for an exorbitant markup. Mark em as Spam.
