I reached out to Blabit because I was too scared to do anything wrong. I spent months reading books and watching videos about Islam. I knew what I was supposed to do, but I was terrified to actually do it. I thought if I went to the mosque, someone would judge me for messing up or not knowing something basic. That fear kept me away from everything. My mentor was really patient with me. He never made me feel dumb for being scared. He helped me see that Islam is a journey. He even told me about his own mistakes when he was learning, which made me feel way less alone. After a few sessions, I finally went to my first Jummah prayer. I messed up some words and probably looked awkward, but I made it through. Now I go every week. I still get nervous sometimes, but I'm not frozen anymore. The best part is not feeling like I have to be perfect right away. He put a lot of things into perspective for me and after the first conversation with him, I instantly felt lighter and a little more connected to my deen. I can genuinely say, my experience was great and it has made it easier for me to deal with this period of time in my life, Alhamdulilah.
