After having a very tasty and smooth bag of STOREBOUGHT coffee (Their "Bold" Version, purchased at Meijer), I decided to take a shot at their "premium" online-only coffee. I ordered three dark roasts and each bag just smelled bad; the beans were very oily as well. I tried EACH bag anyway, but the first brew from each one tasted as bad as they smelled. I contacted customer service, offering to send the beans back so they could inspect them and refund or replace them, they declined ALL OPTIONS, instead just telling me to be better at brewing. Same method, 4 bags; one was fantastic (storebought), 3 were garbage (paid a premium online).
Ordered a relatively expensive bean. Blue Bottle (which used to offer roast to order shipments) is now roasting, larger batches, warehousing the beans and shipping pretty much whenever they feel like it. For $40 per pound, I got coffee that was 10 days off roast when they shipped it and 15 days off roast when I got it.
Customer service claimed that their goal is to ship no more than seven days off roast and further added that their coffee is “delicious” as far out as 100 days off roast. There is no mention of this change in process on their website. In fact they are quick to say they ship within a”day or two” but they are talking about order date… not roast date.
So Blue Bottle is now officially Eight O’Clock Coffee. And although I can’t prove it, it’s my opinion that their “customer service” is largely AI.
If you like sauerkraut then this coffee is for you. If you like coffee that acts like a sleeping pill then this coffee is for you. If you like to pay a hefty price for pure garbage then this coffee is for you. This is one of the worst coffee I ever had
Blue Bottle / Nestlé forces new Terms on you immediately, but makes you wait 45 days to delete your account and personal info. That’s not “consent,” it’s coercion.
You’re exploiting weak U.S. consumer laws to screw customers. Disgusting, predatory behavior, and trash ethics.

I absolutely love blue bottle. The coffee beans arrived quickly and were very fresh. The packaging was neat and eco-firendly. Brewed a cup right away-amazing flavor!
I've been a Blue Bottle Coffee customer for over 15 years and I will never give them another dime after my two experiences with their online subscription. During the fist month, I was double shipped and double billed. I emailed customer service and was told I placed two orders and a refund couldn't be issued. This was false. In the second month my shipment was shipped twelve days after the date I selected (this defeats the purpose of a monthly coffee subscription). Again, I emailed customer service and was told the order was late due to "unprecedented holiday order volume". Again, the same comment - this defeats the actual purpose of a subscription. The customer service agent offered no solution and said the order would ship as soon as possible. He even refused to cancel the order. Blue Bottle - you should stick to slinging coffee at brick and mortar stores. You're not cut out for Ecommerce.
The staff at the Abbott Kinney location are just the friendliest! The matcha tea, pastries and coffee are always so delicious. This is a small location, and it's always super busy but they have a nice outdoor seating area.
