Waiting over 2 years for a coat or refund

Have been waiting for a coat for over two years - despite this they refuse to refund us the petty £300 we spent and constantly write long emails we don’t have time for. We just want a jacket or a refund. Now we have been forced to begin legal action.

We’re sorry you feel this way, however your review does not accurately reflect the situation.
Your original return was made approximately 7 months after purchase, well outside of our returns and exchange policy. Despite this, we made an exception and provided a replacement from our next restock.
The replacement was then returned again after more than 2 months, which again fell outside of our policy. On both occasions, we offered resolutions in good faith,  including a gift card and a replacement, which were either declined or not actioned within the period when stock was available.
As a small brand producing in limited batches, we cannot hold or guarantee stock indefinitely, particularly during peak periods such as Black Friday or Christmas.
We have since agreed to provide a jacket from an upcoming restock and remain willing to honour this.
We take great care to treat all customers fairly while upholding our policies, and we do not accept that this matter has been handled unreasonably.

High-quality leather, thoughtless design, and "service" based on deflection

A few years back I bought the Warrior 2.0 Luxury Shearling jacket, convinced by BODA’s “crafted to last a lifetime” positioning. Turns out the duration of a lifetime is very subjective, and certain design choices leave a lot to be desired.

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, let’s start with the positives...this will be brief.

To be fair, the leather and shearling themselves are good. The jacket feels substantial and warm.

Unfortunately, that’s where my praise ends.

The Design

In all of BODA’s marketing material, the jacket is worn open, and the reason becomes clear the moment you zip it up. The thick inner placket creates a bulge that makes it look like you’re shoplifting a giant roll of salami.

It appears the same leather weight and shearling density were used across every panel, instead of tapering or skiving the inner placket where the zipper closes. Experienced leatherworkers use graded shearling thickness or a split-shearling panel near the closure. That’s why your grandfather’s coat still lies flat.

A premium leather artisan would pay great attention to this.
A brand looking to shave costs off manufacturing might let this fall by the wayside.
…And a brand with no seamstress might not even notice that their factory… khmm… “artisan mill” is cutting corners.

It speaks volumes that the main update on the Warrior 3.0 was the price — which is now near double — yet the “Great Salami Ridge” of 2020 still lives on.

Design-wise, you get a narrow-cut shearling aviator (I personally prefer vintage, boxier fits) which looks great worn open, but isn’t very flattering once fully closed, which is a bit ironic for a winter jacket.

It also comes with several “rugged” add-ons that serve little real function: ribbed sleeves, decorative buckles that adjust nothing, and a detachable second collar that holds the closure mechanism. Remove it, and you can’t keep the neckline closed.

I didn’t go to design school, but that seems rather counterintuitive.

The Quality

My jacket “crafted for a lifetime” started developing issues about a year in. So if you expect to live past 2030, your mileage may vary.

- Bald spot forming on the shearling
- Loose stitching
- Inner pocket backing deteriorating
- Sleeve lining tearing

I contacted BODA for repair.

Initially they sent a return label, but it listed the wrong country of origin. I asked for a corrected label and was told it wasn’t possible. Shipping a valuable item through customs post-Brexit with incorrect export details felt too risky, so the process stalled.

The following year their seamstress was fully booked, and they offered to reimburse the cost of a local repair, but I couldn’t find anyone equipped to properly repair shearling.

The case eventually stalled (partly due to my own delay in picking it up again the following year). When I circled back, I was told my issue had “timed out.” Since the earlier delay had not been one-sided, I left a review to voice my disappointment.

After I posted a public review, BODA contacted me and again agreed to proceed with repairs (excluding the shearling bald spot). They asked me to remove the review, as it would cause them harm before Black Friday and Christmas. It left a strange taste, but their intention to restart the process seemed genuine, so I removed it in good faith.

What followed were six weeks of silence, followed by vague messages, delayed commitments, and repeated nudging just to establish a target completion date, with no clear contingency if missed.

When a return label was eventually issued, we were nine weeks (and several missed deadlines) into the process, and I had lost confidence in the outcome.

At that point, I no longer felt comfortable entrusting an item of this value to a process that had repeatedly proven unpredictable.

Given both the design shortcomings and the "quirks" of customer service, I would not recommend this experience. There are many reputable leather companies out there, hopefully others can learn from mine.

Since 2021 we’ve offered to assist in the repair of this jacket on 3 separate occasions. On each occasion you have not completed the steps required to return the jacket to us. We welcome all feedback, and as a small company try to work with our clients to come to a mutual agreement on how to proceed. During my last email, I asked if you were to leave a review, to please make them factual . We believe the context of this five-year journey is essential for a fair overview:

Design and Fit:
- The "ridge" described is a result of physics, when a jacket is too small for the wearer’s frame, the premium shearling bulges out as you mentioned.
- You mentioned the "rugged" add-ons like the ribbed sleeves and buckles. At BODA, we are a design led brand; these features are the DNA of the Warrior's aesthetic. It's part of the look you signed up for. We’re proud of our functional aesthetic, even if it's not for everyone.

Material and Craftsmanship:
- The shearling bald spot is not a manufacturing or material defects; such marks typically only appear if the natural material is caught or plucked during use.
- As per your own admission, the sleeve lining was torn by your own ring.
- We don't require an internal seamstress. Our use of an independent external seamstress ensures repairs are handled by dedicated specialists.

The Five-Year Timeline:
Warranty processes rarely span half a decade. Our records show significant gaps:
- Initial Contact: You first reached out in December 2021, 13 months after delivery of your jacket.
- The 8-Month Gap: We issued a return label in December 2021, and confirmed regardless of the shipping address it would have arrived back to us safely; we didn't hear back until September 2022, as you noted you had "completely forgotten".
- Local Repair: In September 2022, you didn’t want to wait for the jacket to be sent to us and repaired, we offered to reimburse you if you got the jacket repaired locally.
- The 3-Year Silence: Following September 2022, the trail went cold for over 3 years until you re-engaged in late 2025.

Our Final Commitment: Despite these delays, I personally stepped in to resolve this. We offered either:
- Structural Repairs: We agreed to fix the lining (which you admitted was torn by your ring), pocket, and loose threads at our expense, despite the jacket being years out of warranty.
- The Creative Olive Branch: We even considered a unique exchange based on the creative collaboration you proposed.

It’s disappointing that after 5 years of ownership, 4 years of emails (including the time we waited for your response) and multiple efforts on our part to facilitate the exact repairs you requested, an eleven day label delay was the final dealbreaker. While we would have loved to send you back a refreshed jacket, we respect your choice to move on.

Beautiful Quality

The jacket was genuinely stunning, amazing leather, gorgeous red lining, and the packaging was impressive with my name printed on the box. Unfortunately the XS was still too big, so I had to return it. Customer service was quick to respond when I asked for a return label, and overall the experience was smooth. Shame the fit wasn’t right because the quality is excellent. I would recommend this company.

Absolutely adore my new Bronx Noir

Absolutely adore my new Bronx Noir. The craftmanship is just beautiful, i'm so impressed. I receive multiple comments whenever I wear it. I was close to spending 5x on a Saint Laurent jacket but i'm so glad I didnt now!!

$500 for a jacket I don't have in my possession

Purchased a jacket that came with the incorrect dimensions, bought a size down, sent the other jacket back immediately. Mind you, I'm in the United States.

They received it, and wouldn't accept the return and unfortunately I had already removed the tags from the other jacket so neither would be "returnable" according to their words. Even tho their guidelines and the local laws say that regardless of the price tag being attached, businesses are required to process a full return if the item is in the same condition it was purchased as.

Long story short, it's November, I reluctantly said I'd take the jacket back and then radio silence.

I haven't heard from them, I spent $500 + on a jacket, no refund, no jacket in my possession.

It's fortunate they're in England because I can't take them to small claims court, I can't summon them, and since I don't live in England I can't file a complaint correctly with their local principalities.

The quality of the jacket is superb, but, here I am having spent over $1000 on jackets and only have half the products.

I wish someone could do something about this to either get my money back or the item back so I could sell it.

Terrible customer service, takes weeks to hear back from them.

Peeling (half PVC) Jacket

Absolute disappointed with the quality of my Boda Skin jacket purchased just one year ago. Sleeve panels, made from PVC (faux leather) are peeling. Genuine leather does not peel. Despite my attempts to seek resolution and details given, still unable to find my profile. I am now faced with the burden of having to hire a leather expert to remove the peeling PVC panels and re-sew the sleeves with genuine leather. This completely defeats the purpose of purchasing a Boda Skin jacket, as I expected a high-quality genuine leather product.
I strongly urge Boda Skin to reconsider your material choices and improve your service standards to avoid disappointing other customers.

I have noticed that most of jacket is starting to peel from the seam lines, similar to the wear typically seen in PVC jackets.

Despite having sent multiple emails with photos and now returning from holiday, I’m still waiting. I’m unclear why leather panels have not been sent yet.

How many more emails will be required before this issue is resolved?

Update:
Boda Skin sent leather pieces for the jacket. I now need to find a tailor to unstitch the jacket and re-sew the sleeves with lining. Honestly, it’s not worth the money. I recommend buying from another brand to avoid the hassle of having to re-stitch your jacket and bullying from Boda Skin to remove my honest review.

We’re really sorry to hear about your experience and the disappointment this has caused. To clarify, the jacket you purchased is made from 100% lamb’s leather we never use PVC or faux leather in our jackets, except where explicitly stated in our coated cotton range.

When you first contacted us, our team offered to send you matching lamb’s leather so the affected areas could be replaced. As the jacket has been with you for over a year, it’s difficult for us to determine what it may have been exposed to during this time, but we remain committed to helping you find a resolution.
