Sometimes as a retired professional, it's hard to feel heard and seen on important issues. I'm grateful that CARP is there to keep us relevant.

Happy that CARP continues to advocate for retired people.
Perhaps some arrangements for snowbird insurance for retired people.
Snowbirds organization only deals with snowbirds to USA but many Cdns go to Mexico.

I like the advocacy for seniors, in print and in person. I don't like the constant emails every day, once a week is plenty.

Your company states an association of retired persons: the seminar appreared to focus on people planning retirement and had money to invest, also people owning homes. I am retired with fixed income and would like to see an increased focus on " retired" people with a fixed income, LESS than $36k per year, that RENT. My rent is approx. 55% of my income. I have applied for Rent Geared to Income, RGI, and I am told 10 to 12 year waiting list. I recommend that you check who priorities are given to. Because CPP&OAS are taxable along with a small LIF, I end up owing taxes at the end of the year, around $1,500, and the only way I pay is for all my Govt Benefit payments be applied to taxes owed, i.e. GST/HST/ Trillium etc. The Govt takes these automatically, I have NO say in the matter! Suggested solutions to people in simi situations as myself: 1) Reduce the % of taxable income for people earning less than 4ok per year, 2) Review the RGI program to see if managed properly i.e. are people in these units forever even if their income increases 3) to help increase the number of RGI units available approach corporations like M&R, to offer a % of their units to the RGI program. Your corporation speaks about people wanting/ needing support to allow them to stay in their homes, The same need applies to people renting. In fact I suggest it is harder for a renter , fixed income, because people woning homes can rent a room , basement etc. Bottom line please increase your focus on Retired people that are on fixed income and renting. And yes my rent will go up this year with a further increase expected once Rental Management have cleared their request for an above rent increase guideline which is currently before a Tribunal. thank you John.Rental foc

A panel with different perspectives was very useful. Knowing more a out the financial 'environment' in Canada is highly recommended, particularly for seniors who are too often taken advantage of and/or don't have financial security. The Q&A was a good idea. However, I was automatically put on the YouTube channel and couldn't see how to access Q&A.

I found the whole presentation and speakers excellent and answered most of my concerns.

There wasn't any new information for us. The panel didn't answer questions sent in from email audience.

It would be better when asking to attend an event that attendees receive confirmation of a seat right after they submit their application. We have to take the Go train in, over an hour away. Not knowing until the day before the event is too rushed to plan what train to take and arrive on time.

Dealing with the topic of Fiduciary role of financial institutions usually kept as best unspoken secret, as those institutions aim to achieve their best interest and try to sell what is profitable for them.

It was ok, could have used more practical suggestions

A diverse team of presenters. Varied viewpoints was helpful. Most useful info for me , was how bank staff may not be always knowledgeable of investments funds for seniors and bonuses for bank staff.

I really appreciated the opportunity to listen to your panel members discuss issues regarding strategies for financial stability in retirement. However, I lost interest when they shifted their focus to other issues such as cyber security. The two initial questions you posed in your invitation are of interest to me and I would have preferred if they'd stayed closer to the original theme. In truth, I cut out shortly after the 2nd hour began which may have been a mistake if they returned to the questions that had attracted me to attend. All the same, thanks for the opportunity!

Unfortunately, I missed most of it due to an unexpected drop in from out of towners. By any chance was it recorded, I would love to listen to it !
