CASE KNIVES - OUTSTANDING QUALITY AND VALUE. BUY WITH THE UTMOST CONFIDENCE!
I used to be a fan of Buck knives. My old Bucks are fine, but the new 303 I bought was crap. I compared it side by side with a friend's Case knife and I immediately ordered a Case Medium Stockman with navy bone slabs as the Buck 303's replacement.
Well, my Case knife arrived today, two days sooner than I had expected! Thank you Amazon. I was quite anxious to examine it after my latest experience with Buck. THERE WAS NO NEED! This Stockman, like the other Case that I compared the Buck 303 to, is beautiful! It is super sharp. It is extremely well polished. The springs are tight. It is everything that I hoped it would be. In a word, it is excellent!
While it would probably taken a Buck employee about five minutes to do, I spent about two hours or so tinkering with and finishing and refinishing the crappy, rust-prone, Buck 303 knife that I paid good money for - just to be able to give it to my son without having to hang my head in shame for giving him such a crappy gift (please see my Buck Knives review to get an idea of everything that was wrong with it). My Case knife needed not one minute of my time to make it nice, to make it what I expected. Yes, it cost more but, once again, you usually get what you pay for, except with Buck!
This Case knife is going to be my constant companion from now on. I will be buying more whenever the time comes (and that will probably be sooner than later). I know what brand I'll be buying as gifts! Hello Case, goodbye Buck! I could go on and on, but there is no need. Buy a Case Knife with TOTAL confidence! (The way I used to buy Bucks.)
Well Buck, I hope you read your competitors' reviews. You're only hurting yourselves and a long-standing American company with your lack of quality. The Chinese Buck knife i mistakenly bought and the threw away was of better quality than the US made Buck 303 I recently bought. Going to China to make your knives was your biggest mistake. I'm not sure you really ever came back!
Addendum: I have been knocking around with my Case in my pocket for hours now as I sweat doing other things, like polishing, fitting, and finishing my new SKB SxS barrels, bought in the white and pretty rough. I've been cooking in a hot kitchen, and walking the dog. The Case, so far, is pocket proof! No rust, no pitting, no discoloation, no scratched springs or bolsters. All of which are common to the USA made Buck 303.
Addendum 2: I bought two more Case knives since the crappy Buck. A Mini-Trapper with worn green jigged bone scales and a Canoe with 'Tequila Sunrise' bone scales.
