Good product and AMAZING customer service

We’ve loved our Chicken Guard. We recently had an issue with it that I couldn’t sort at home, so they were super helpful.. arranged for a collection of the door, replaced the computer board and sent back very quickly. We’ve been very impressed with the high level of after care, aswell as the unit itself.

ChickenGuard Doors are great !! They withstand the extreme heat and cold of Texas. They are durable and dependable !! Great Product !!

I can't review the actual product yet because I still haven't received my order because there service is very bad:
14/01: ordered chickenguard all in one in grey
15/01: received mail than grey was out of stock but they could send a red one, but on their website only grey was avaible to order not red, so their website was not correct! I didn't want red so had to wait for the new stock (1 week they said)
27/01: more than a week had passed, still no door, so I had to mail again
27/01: received answer that there was a delay but the stock had arrived and would be sent within 24 hours
30/01 (when I write this review): still no door!!!

Difficile de mettre notre Chickenguard en fonction, sans doute à cause d'une mauvaise manipulation de notre part.
Grâce a l'application du site, j'ai eu des réponses très rapides, que ce soit sur semaine ou durant le week-end.
Maintenant, il fonctionne à merveille.

It's most unfortunate - and, these days rather uncomprehensible, as well - that you cannot regulate the sensitivity of the light sensor of the Chickenguard (pro). You can only (de)activate it, nothing more. Whereas I really would like e.g. to have a little bit less sensitivity so that the door closes about 5 minutes later than it does now.

Les modèles solaires ne sont pas fiables du tout. Étant dans le sud de la France, avec le panneau orienté plein sud, le portier n'a plus eu de batteries déjà 2 fois cet hiver (et l'hiver n'est pas fini...). Donc si vous l'installez ailleurs que dans le désert vous allez sûrement avoir un problème vous aussi.
Si je n'avais pas été là quand ça a lâché ça aurait pu coûter la vie de mes poules.

A noter qu'il n'est pas possible de mettre des piles en plus du solaire justement au cas où le solaire serait insuffisant, c'est l'un ou l’autre, ça aurait été une bonne mesure de sécurité de pouvoir mettre les 2, et ainsi avoir le solaire qui assure la plupart du temps, et les piles uniquement en secours, évitant la surconsommation de piles sur ces appareils.

Mais si le système avait été conçu intelligemment le problème aurait pu être limité, le pire c'est qu'en cas de panne de batteries, le système se remet à zéro, alors que dans la journée qui suit la batterie va se recharger, mais la porte dans tout les cas ne bougera plus tant que vous n'aurez pas tout reconfiguré, alors qu'il aurait suffit de mettre par défaut la porte sur le mode automatique en fonction de la luminosité du jour, ce qui permettrait que tout refonctionne une fois les batteries rechargées, là non, blocage total en attente d'intervention humaine, si vous partez plusieurs jours et que ça arrive à ce moment c'en est fini de vos poules.

Le service client n'assume pas du tout, ils disent que c'est le fonctionnement parfaitement normal et qu'ils ne comptent pas changer ce fonctionnement qui est pourtant un défaut de sécurité majeur. Ils m'ont dit qu'en hiver il fallait passer sur piles et ne pas utiliser le solaire, alors que rien n'est marqué dans la notice à ce propos.

Si ça avait été un portique chinois bon marché j'aurais compris, mais là selon leur dires ce sont : "Les portiers poulaillers automatiques les plus innovants au monde" (sic).

Ils ne reconnaissent même pas ce qui semble être la plus simple mesure de sécurité, qui n'aurait en plus rien coûté à mettre en place.
Maintenant je n'ai aucune confiance de partir quelques jours, j'ai pensé à brancher sur secteur, mais en fait le problème est le même, si vient une petite coupure de courant, la porte est bloquée, la solution la plus sûre reste le stock de piles à changer régulièrement, et puis tout reparamétrer aussi à chaque fois qu'on change les piles, là aussi ça aurait été intelligent de garder les paramètres en mémoire...

Pour résumer, aucune mesure de sécurité n'est prévue (ni coté hardware, ni coté software, alors que les deux auraient été le minimum sur un produit destiné à la sécurité des animaux), n'achetez pas cette porte si vous comptez partir l'esprit tranquille.

Purchased a chicken guard pro kit solar after it was recommended by a friend. First unit wouldn’t power on. Second unit sometimes opens and closes on the sensor, sometimes doesn’t. When the door does open it doesn’t open fully despite numerous attempts to recalibrate. Chickenguard have always been quick to respond but refuse to replace a unit which is clearly not fit for purpose. Their response is that the unit won’t open in winter in Scotland as it’s too dark for the sensor to activate. And for issues with door calibration I need to have a chicken coop with a front at least 80cm high. I would NOT recommend this company under any circumstances.

ChickenGuard provides outstanding customer service! From timely responses to emails, very clear instructions and details, everything with this company is top notch. I appreciate a great company like ChickenGuard.

Motor was kapot na twee jaar. Na wat foto’s en een filmje van het probleem, werd een geheel nieuwe basis toegezonden. Echt goede service!!

Chicken Guard has excellent service and quality products. Our last Chicken door did not work properly and stopped working after two months. After that bad experience, we tried the Chicken Guard product. It has been very dependable. After a couple of years we had an issue and reached out to Chicken Guard service. They always respond quickly (within a day). I get to talk to a human and they solve the issue quickly. I am very pleased.

Bought the extreme unit some time ago, only fitted it 2 weeks ago and the motor has broken, it was professionally installed and was functioning as it should! After providing customer services with photos, videos and proof of purchase and a few hours jumping through hoops for them they offered me 20% off a new one when we had paid nearly £200 for the one that lasted 2 weeks! Not helpful and a waste of money! I will be trying the cheap Chinese ones now! I am looking for 5 units if anyone has a recommendation or a quality brand!

Le support téléphonique et par mail a été rapide, efficace et professionnel. Pas de blabla, juste des réponses concrètes et une vraie réactivité. Mon dossier SAV concernant un moteur ChickenGuard Pro a été traité sans perte de temps.

I ordered one of the Chickenguard doors and had a problem with the solar panel. This was immediately rectified with a replacement. Excellent service, would highly recommend.

Maribel replied to my request via email pretty much instantly. She identified my needs, kept me updated and dispatched the parts straight away. I have 4 all in one coops doors and wouldn't buy any other brand. The customer service is excellent and and a British quality product. Mike Buckley.

Outre que le matériel est de qualité très satisfaisante, le service après vente est particulièrement réactif, prompt à vous dépanner rapidement et soucieux des suites données à leurs conseils (mails réguliers)

I asked technical question regarding solar voltage level and how it performs and I received very detailed answer.
Following is the response from Technical Support:

Thanks for your query.
Under usual conditions, when the batteries are being charge by the Solar Panel, the battery voltage will be anywhere from 4.8volts to 5.5volts. The Solar Panel will also read around 3 volts.
The Solar Panel/charging circuitry is designed to maximise the available power from the sun. When doing this, the circuitry pulls the available solar voltage down to 3v or there abouts to maximise the amount of available power. In other words, this is a normal solar voltage reading.

I had one of the older units which worked brilliantly for over five years. I upgraded to a newer model, but after only a few months it stopped working.

The build quality is poor, with weak parts and soldering, and the customer service has been unhelpful and frustrating to deal with throughout.

A real shame after such a good experience with the old unit. I cannot recommend the newer ones, there are much better options on the market now.

De vos kwam al ons pluimvee halen tot wij een automatische deur plaatsten. het eerste toestel werkte niet goed. Na contact kregen we in april een nieuw frontpaneel. Dit werkt nu perfect. De klok blijft gelijk en het openen en sluiten gaat precies. En de baterijen hebben we nog niet moeten vervangen na 5 maanden. Een fantastische verbetering en gratis. dankjewel

What a fantastic company and support team when so many others out there couldn't care less. The ChickenGuard door raiser and close kit is a great benefit for anyone thinking of keeping a few chickens. There are a number to choose from to fit your needs. All automated, so no longer heading out in a dressing gown to let out the chickens in early morning in summer and no need to go out in the cold of a winter evening to close the door when the hens are in. The Sensor setting allows the door to close depending on the amount of daylight it measures. If you have dozy hens, like me, who tend to want to remain outside after dusk you can lengthen the time the door remains open up to an hour after the sensor would close it.
