I have used Clarkes extensively over what must be around 10yrs now — so I know Paul and his team fairly well. Being family owned agents, (with the proprietors actually working there), they have constantly delivered both a professional and first rate service - and should the need arise, they are always instantly contactable.
I would definitely recommend them - especially so, over any large faceless ‘multiple’ that seem to be saturating the marketplace nowadays.. And, remember, in doling so you’re giving your business to a family company, as opposed to just some corporate setup

He chased solicitors, the seller and even us on some occasions to ensure everything went smooth. He is a gem and a real asset to Clarkes Estates. While the sales manager's initial approach to marketing the house proved overly optimistic, our overall experience of Clarke's was positive. We felt that the marketing materials were of good quality and there was excellent communication around viewings and viewer feedback. In our case, a number of issues (unrelated to Clarke's) delayed exchange of contracts but the sales team were pro-active in identifying solutions and chasing up delays elsewhere in the chain. I also appreciated that I was able to speak to someone with personal knowledge of the sale at any time and without delay.

I had a very poor experience with Clarkes Estate Agents over a long tenancy.
There were two separate serious mould issues affecting the same bedroom. The first took around six months to resolve and the landlord accepted a rent reduction as compensation, clearly acknowledging the problem. The mould later returned and the second episode lasted over nine months, during which the bedroom was completely uninhabitable for a child.
Only one contractor attended, after nine months, and stated the issue was structural, not caused by the tenant. Despite this, Clarkes later attempted to blame me. When asked for proof, I was told “multiple contractors” had confirmed this — but they were then unable to say who, and no evidence was ever provided.
Communication throughout was poor. I sent hundreds of emails, received vague or delayed replies, and was repeatedly told staff were too busy. There was constant staff turnover, no handover, poor record-keeping, and I regularly had to repeat the same information. At times the tone was rude and dismissive, including being told that if I didn’t like the situation, I could leave — despite being a good tenant for over 4.5 years.
There were other serious failures too: a confirmed move-in date was changed the day before I was due to move because Clarkes hadn’t arranged the inventory, costing me over £1,000, with no apology. A boiler breakdown in winter went unanswered for over a week.
No compensation was ever offered for the prolonged loss of a bedroom. After months with no resolution, I withheld the final month’s rent pending one — none ever came. While that slightly offset the cost, it was not worth the stress or disruption.
I would not recommend Clarkes Estate Agents. Their handling of basic tenancy issues, communication, and tenant care was consistently poor.

Megan was amazing throughout the entire home-buying process. She was supportive, patient, and always available to answer my questions. Her knowledge and dedication made everything so much easier. I truly appreciate all her help and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new home!
I contacted this company regarding an anti social/breach of security issue regarding a resident. Ashley Wilson was on to it straight away and the issue was resolved. He advised what action had been taken and assured of further action, should there be any reoccurances.
Top job....not often I can say that about anyone, so very happy to sing his praises. It's a rarity these days!
