My complaint is about the booking process and their customer service. I feel they were more concerned about getting the booking versus explaining to the customer the risks of booking a non guaranteed departure tour. We decided to book a tour to align with the end of an existing 2.5 month trip as the dates lined up perfectly. I wasn’t overly concerned at the time that the deposit was non-refundable, however it has now become an issue. We are not able to book our flights and take advantage of seat sales as it is not a guaranteed booking and they are unable to give me any indication on when the decision will be made to cancel the tour or not. Therefore I am held hostage due to the non-refundable deposit and may end up having to pay higher than anticipated airfare. In addition they are offering an additional discount which they will not apply to my booking since they know I can’t cancel without financial loss, therefore being penalized for booking early.
I have travelled with Globus in the past but this is my first experience with booking a non guaranteed departure and I will never do that again.
I think it would make sense that the deposit becomes non refundable once the tour is guaranteed but I strongly feel that it is very poor business practice to put customers in this position and would not recommend Globus based on this, or at least not in this circumstance.
