Coursera is charging me $79/month, and I can't actually get into the account that is associated with this charge because when I enter the email I set the account up under and click the "forgot my password" link to be sent an email, I never get the password reset email.
I have written customer support twice, with no response. There's no phone number to call - FOR A PAYING MEMBER OF THEIR SERVICE? Are they KIDDING ME?
I am going to call my bank and report the charge as fraudulent in the next day or two if I don't hear back from them.
TERRIBLE service. Simply terrible.
Egregious Customer Service!
I'm signed up under the Plus Program and have been actively involved in multiple certificate courses. I'm a physician with a deadline to return to the hospital within the next week or so and really wanted to complete the courses this week to allow myself some time to rest and enjoy my family before returning to work.
Although my credit card is current/bill paid - no discrepancies - I was not able to log into my academic account this past Monday (approximately 3 days prior to writing this review). Upon further review, I discovered my account had been inactivated. I immediately sent a support ticket and was impressed with how quickly I received a response asking for a screenshot so the problem could be resolved in order to get me back into the learning module.
I stopped what I was doing and beyond a screenshot, I sent a shared-screen narrated video to make absolutely sure they saw the problem in order for them to provide expedited resolution.
I continued to attempt logging into the software Tuesday, Wednesday and Today - with no success. A few moments prior to leaving this review, I received an alert from Mailtrack - THEY HAVEN'T EVEN OPENED MY EMAIL with the narrated video that I sent DAYS AGO! Needless to say, they are not working on resolving my problem.
I consider this to be the rudest and most inconsiderate thing I've experienced during my endeavors of taking courses online. Even though they were AWARE of my personal deadline - I'm being charged DAILY for an inoperable learning platform - they obviously could care LESS!!! Wow! what a privilege - to have a job where you can just electively ignore your emails!!!!
I have no problem with the content offered via Coursera (when I can access it); however, the customer service is egregiously rude and can care less about your personal goals, your academic achievements, your quests in life or your desired deadline to reach your accolades, achievements, and accomplishments in life.
I had a great experience
I hesitated for weeks before signing up to do a course on Coursera because of all the bad reviews. I finally put in my credit card info and started my 7 day free trial. In that time, I finished 2 very good courses and received my certificates. On the last day I cancelled my trial in one click and was not charged. I will go back to them when I am ready to continue the specialization.
3 years on Coursera, and contacting their CS is simply the worst.
I've been studying on Coursera for 3 years now. Even joined the "Coursera Plus" program as a nerd and learning passionate.
Nevertheless, Coursera Support may be the worst also their FAQ should be updated based on their Product Team platform updates - I contacted Coursera Support 5 times about "how can I unroll to x course?", their Product Team must have released some update since with Coursera Plus it seems impossible to unroll... so I have 4 courses in my list which I'm not interested on taking, but I see them with the red alert symbol (since they have deadlines) but I can't unroll from which is a HORRIBLE user experience and DEMOTIVATE people to actually check their list of current courses...
I gave 2 stars only because they have good courses but their Customer Support being the worst ever...

This is the biggest scam.
This is a big scam.. The courses are filled with errors and are very outdated. There is NO support at all, and the Help Center is filled with bad designed bots Who aren't even understandable. Also, I realize after looking in their trustpilot reviews, that many of the names/pictures of their bots also appear on the 5 star reviews. Wonder why? Hmmmm.. huuuuuge scam! Stay far away. They havent replied to Any customer in two months. My school sent me to this place. I have made sure they Will never send another student through this hell of a platform.
LONG LIVE COURSERA
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE COURSERA, and I'm happy to have this chance to say it aloud.
I started my experience with Coursera by attending almost the full specialization in 'Creative Writing', and I was touched that because I was going through a hard time, Coursera granted me financial aid.
I think Coursera programs are simple, but really enjoyable and educational.
They are targeted at people as whole, regardless of their background, but I'm sure that at end, everybody will feel that they have learned at least something new.
When you complete your course, you will also be given a Certificate of achievement, which can enrich your resumé, and improve your self-esteem.
There are some other Coursera programs which I would like to attend, but I'm waiting for a period of more viability in terms of finances, time and focus.
To end this, I hope that Coursera LIVES FOR A VERY LONG TIME, and I highly recommend everybody to get to know it by attending any course of their preference...

They use the words "Free Courses" and "Audit Mode", but ABSOLUTELY nothing is free....
— Enrolled for a course in Audit Mode (whatever that means)
— Was aware I won't be given a Certificate unless I purchase it
— started the course, finished Module 1... answered the Module 1 Quiz (test of knowledge) and clicked SUBMIT.
— It asked for Purchase before I can submit or see my score for that single quiz
That's BS. what's the point of learning or reading blankly if I can take mini quizzes within the Modules but not see my score to know if I'm improving or actually learning anything.
if you're reading this review, use ALISON app/learning platform instead. They actually offer what they say and at the end you can take their final Assessment test, see your score and decide if you want to purchase the Certificate/Diploma or not. And guess what? Certificates and Diplomas from ALISON are recognised and cost far less!
Bye Coursera, your big name will be the death of you.

Access to college-level instruction from professors at accredited institutions
As one of the most prestigious and widespread online educational platforms out there, Coursera is definitely legit.
I gave it 4 stars because you can’t choose a course, pay the money, and enroll immediately. You will need to apply and then be admitted to the specific program, which is kinda frustrating.

Cannot say it was the best experience, but it was defenitely helpful. If you want the certificate, you need to pay more, if you need the best cources - you pay more. I can say it is expensive, but not bad for the start.

I have no idea whether the courses are any good or not but they did the classic "bait and switch" tactic of advertising a free course then, once I had given them all my details, it turned out it wasn't free after all. Deceitful business methods.

Personally, I found the few courses I got from coursera to be very informative and well laid out. My friend on the other hand had several complaints about the courses he bought from the instructors intonation, sound and even picture quality. I think it will be best if Coursera has a specified sound and picture quality standard.
Brief content, well prepared materials
I've been seeking courses to enhance my analytics tool skills and Coursera is the perfect educational platform for this purpose. Concrete integration in the syllabus, reasonable difficulty and nicely designed quizzes & tests make my learning applicable in my real life problem solving.
