I really wanted to love the Cozey Ara bed, but my experience has been extremely disappointing. Delivery is a huge hassle. You receive 10+ incredibly heavy boxes, the delivery window is extremely broad, there’s no option to schedule a specific date and time, and there’s no white glove delivery service, even if you’re willing to pay extra. I live in a condo, where leaving that many boxes outside my door would be a fire hazard and could get me into trouble with building management. Getting everything through my front door, never mind up my stairs, would have been extremely difficult, so I had to hire someone at the last minute to help. Assembly was equally frustrating. I only found the bed frame instructions after opening six boxes, and there were no instructions for the drawers. I had to find them online, assemble everything myself, then remove the drawer fronts to get the drawers onto the rolling tracks before reattaching them. As a heads up to other buyers, you basically need a room twice the size of the bed to assemble it. The deep drawers are great for storage, but that’s a challenge for people living in smaller condos who are buying a storage bed precisely because space is limited. To make matters worse, my bed arrived without the necessary hardware. I spent over an hour chatting with customer service, and although the representative genuinely tried her best, the replacement hardware took another week to arrive. I couldn’t leave over 10 boxes scattered around my home and go without a bed for a week, so I had to source my own hardware. Cozey gave me a $100 credit, which I appreciated, but it hardly made up for the time and hassle involved, especially at this price point. The covers are another problem. They require an unreasonable amount of stretching to get on, and even then, they don’t fit properly. I’m concerned they’ll fit even worse after washing. I’ve contacted customer service again about the covers, my delivery experience, and returning the bed, but these issues are still ongoing without any real resolution (and from what I’m seeing I really don’t expect one). The satisfaction guarantee also sounds much better in theory than in practice. Disassembling the bed and repacking everything into 10+ original boxes, some of which are already damaged from unpacking, is an enormous and completely unreasonable undertaking. Doing this would be extremely difficult, and hiring help again would mean more expense. Plus I don’t actually see how it could be done. A guarantee isn’t particularly reassuring if the return process is so impractical. If you buy this bed you’re basically stuck with it. Overall, between the inflexible delivery arrangements, lack of white glove service, missing hardware and instructions, frustrating assembly, poorly fitting covers, and unhelpful customer service, this has been far more stressful than buying a bed should be. For $1,200 for the base alone, I expected a much more polished experience. The design initially appealed to me, I actually was going to purchase a headboard as well and a modular couch, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t purchase from Cozey again and I would never recommend to others. Two stars because the frame itself seems nice and sturdy.
