Buyer Beware – My Return Experience with Cult Gaia

I am leaving this review to share my experience as a first-time Cult Gaia customer.

I purchased a dress for my wedding festivities (in April) and tried it on as soon as it arrived. I immediately knew it was not the right dress for me. I never wore it outside of trying it on indoors, and I returned it the following business day in accordance with the company’s return process.

After Cult Gaia received the dress, the experience became extremely frustrating. Their review process extended beyond the timeframe they provided, and I received no communication or updates about the status of my return. I had to follow up to find out what was happening.

I was then informed that my return had been denied because Cult Gaia determined the dress had a stain from wear. I dispute that characterization because I never wore the dress beyond trying it on indoors before promptly returning it.

Because my return was denied, I filed a dispute with my bank. In Cult Gaia’s response to my bank, they stated that their policy is to return merchandise that does not meet their return requirements. After that response, I contacted Cult Gaia directly and was informed that the dress would be shipped back to me (in July).

While I appreciate that the dress is being returned, the entire process was unnecessarily stressful, poorly communicated, and unprofessional. As a customer purchasing from a luxury retailer, I expected transparency, timely communication, and a fair review process. Instead, I was left waiting beyond the stated review period with no updates and ultimately received a denied return for a dress that I maintain was never worn.

My advice to anyone considering purchasing from Cult Gaia is to understand that, based on my experience, you should only buy an item if you are completely certain you will keep it. If your return is denied, you may receive the item back rather than a refund. That is an outcome I was not expecting when I made my purchase.

This was my first purchase from Cult Gaia, and it will also be my last.

My experience with Cult Gaia was extremely disappointing. I returned my order immediately after receiving it, and instead of receiving a clear explanation, the item was simply sent back to me. I was later told my return was denied due to a faint mark on the inside and being “worn” which I completely dispute.

The entire process felt opaque and unfair. I was left without a meaningful explanation or a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue, despite repeatedly reaching out. I will be filing a claim with the small claims court of California.

After reading other customers’ reviews describing similar return and refund experiences, I became concerned that this may not be an isolated incident.

I bought a dress for my daughter’s wedding weekend. It was completely see-through so I returned it. They acknowledged they received our return and then promptly sent it back to us. They did not explain why they sent the dress back so I emailed Customer Service 3 times with NO response at all. They said we put a stain of dirt on the bottom of the dress. I believe this is a way to not refund our money.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!

Very disappointing experience.

I purchased a luxury item that arrived with a manufacturing defect. I returned it immediately, and Cult Gaia confirmed that they received my return on May 14, 2026.

Despite having the returned item for weeks, I still have not received my refund. Instead, I have received multiple emails apologizing for the delay and assuring me that my refund had been “prioritized” and would be processed shortly. Unfortunately, these promises have not been kept.

The customer service is polite, but the actions do not match the words. For a luxury brand, I expected a much more professional and efficient handling of returns and refunds.

It is extremely disappointing to spend a significant amount of money on a premium product, receive a defective item, return it promptly, and then have to chase the company for weeks just to get the refund I am owed.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend ordering from Cult Gaia.

Cult Gaia has the ABSOLUTE worst customer service of any retail organization I have shopped with in decades (yes, decades!). I purchased a purse as a birthday gift for a friend. Based on the website photo and price ($400+), I assumed it was larger than it actually was. When I gave it to my friend she remarked that she could not fit her cell phone into the bag and asked if I would mind having her exchange it. I contacted cult Gaia for an exchange (which would have cost me more money that I was willing to pay). Since the bag was 17 days since purchase and they have a 14 day return policy, they would not issue an exchange or any sort of refund. . This was communicated through an automated message. I then reached out to customer service to explain the situation and received another automated message that someone would contact me within five days…. Ten days went by- no contact. I emailed customer service at least three more times with no response. I then went online and found a phone number for customer service - ha! That didn’t work either. To make a long story short, I donated the bag to Goodwill and bought my friend a more reputable brand that actually cares about customers (Louis Vuitton) and yes, it was more expensive but you get what you pay for in this instance. BUYERS BEWARE of Cult Gaia - truly, truly terrible

I bought a few dresses to choose between for my wedding rehearsal dinner. I decided to return this one, and they told me it had a stain and could not be returned. I never stained it. It’s just a way to not give me my refund. I created this account just to warn others.

They built a brand on luxury, elevated
looks and high end statement pieces.
My order arrived in a torn up paper envelope.At first I thought it was a routine Amazon order but to my dismay it was the purchase I had expressed shipped. The company will suffer if they continue to disregard the customer.

Awful customer experience, didn't answer any of the web chats. Emails useless and also took 2 weeks to respond and resolution was sub par. Do not value customer experience and or retaining them. I safely say i will never buy from them again.

Absolute COWBOYS! I’d give zero stars if I could. Items didn’t make it to me and were returned then they tried to refund me 29 dollars out of 1348!!!! Charging big brand prices with absolute BUDGET CUSTOMER SERVICE! AVOID AVOID AVOID……

I had a disappointing experience with Cult Gaia. My order didn’t ship on time, and their online chat was not helpful. I emailed multiple times and didn’t hear back for several days.

After finally receiving my items, I returned some and requested an exchange. Their website states returns are processed within five business days, but even after they confirmed receipt, eight business days passed with no refund. I had to follow up several times to get it initiated.

They also ignored my exchange request and issued a refund instead. Now I can’t get a response from customer service.

For the price point, this level of service is unacceptable

Poor communication, to charge so much you would think your customer service would be better- do better I’m still waiting for an item have had no response. At this point. I’ll be returning and wil not purchase again

Received clothing that was damaged, probably worn and a wrinkled mess. A top and pants for over $1000 that turned out to be 100% polyester!I emailed them immediately and no one responded for over a week. I went ahead and processed the return. A week later they say they cannot accept return bc the items are damaged! Never worn and didn't even try on. And they are blaming me for condition after I emailed them!!!!!

I bought £600 shoes that arrived worn and damaged. I immediately sent them photos as proof and no one has responded to me.

Unacceptable at this price point. I had a similar issue once with Farfetch with a faulty item and they responded and dispatched a new pair with a discount same day.

If you want to be a luxury brand, act like one.

This company makes it impossible to return an item by mail. They don’t state what they charge for returns. It’s a surprise that you have to agree to upon returning. You have no way to contact the company or talk to anyone. Product are way overpriced for what they are. Will never buy from here again. Called the NY store because in over a week, no one contacted me about my return. 14 day return policy and they used one half so far.

I walked into cult Gaia and had the most incredible experience with Fatiha. She was beyond sweet and helped me with trying on some dresses and helping me with choosing what accessories to wear. She made the experience beyond enjoyable and I loved every minute of my shopping experience. I found two beautiful dresses that she helped style me in and I’m so excited to leave with them today. My only complaint is at the store didn’t have any heat on because it was broken and I was so cold, but other than that, it was a 20 out of 10 experience

Purchased a bikini for my wife on June 22nd 2025. They firstly charged the wrong amount in store and then adjusted it after I complained. Bikini bottoms arrived different than the photos online. Went to the store to exchange the size and instead of refunding my card and charging again as their policy allows, they put the amount on a gift card without asking. Complained by email about bikini being different than online photos and they offered to take the bikini as a return if hygiene liner was in place. Sent it back and they claimed there was a stain under the hygiene liner. They sent it back to me with the hygiene liner removed and refused the return. I disputed charge with my credit card but they supposedly provided information to deny the claim. I am now left with the wrong bikini and no refund. Total scam.

Achtung, versuche seit Tagen Kleider zu retournieren und erhalte keine Antwort. Für diese Preise ein unterirdischer Kundenservice, leider lässt auch die Qualität zu wünschen übrig. Schade

I’d choose zero stars if it was an option. I ordered a Cult Gaia dress online (with two straps( they sent me a different dress (with four straps) and now won’t even reply to my emails requesting that Cult Gaia exchange what I’ve been sent for the dress I actually ordered and paid for, or to provide me with a refund. To date I have experienced terrible customer service for such an expensive ‘luxury brand’ - the worst and I would not trust this brand.

I was at the Wynn in Las Vegas and want let you know how much I appreciated your manager, Jessica, she was kind , warm and great to work with you. She helped me pick something which I am having shipped( finally!) to my NY residence! Also, Kenny was a doll to work with! Sweet and helpful. Together they make a great team!

I ordered a bag on Sunday afternoon and the courier rang with it on Wednesday morning. From California to the UK. The bag is stunning! Also the packaging is beautiful and I didn't even ask for gift wrap. Thank you!
