Absolute shambles
Absolute shambles. 12 months to finalize sale of my house with no chain and cash buyers. Sale agreed in a week. Communication non existent.y complaint was ignored. I advice all to avoid this company.
Do not use this firm
Wish I had read the reviews before using countrywide. Luckily we decided to use another firm for the purchase. However purchase is all ready to complete and I have spent the last month emailing at times everyday to try and move the sale along. Every time I ask what is holding the sale up I get told something else. Give me a list and I will sort it that day. The final straw came yesterday when I had to chase up enquiries from the buyers solicitor from the management company. They apologised and said would answer in two working days. Cool my solicitor doesn't work on Wednesdays so that's more delay added to the sale. They do not answer calls from anyone and barely respond to emails. We wanted to move so we could have a better quality of life and now we are paying way over the odds on a variable rate mortgage because the solicitors can't do their job. I'm hoping we manage to complete soon. Before we need to get a new mortgage offer. If you want to become a conveyancer then use this firm as you will end up doing most of the work.
Update: We finally completed in March. We received offer in August. There was a complication but it could have dealt with far earlier. I don't blame the Solicitor on our case but it was clear the structure of the company, workload and how the company communicates with its clients are the real issues.
Avoid at all cost
Avoid at all cost! What a useless shower of sh*te! Between Blundells and Countrywide, it took 7 months to sell a property, to the tenets who were living in it, with no chain. Go elsewhere is my advice.
Completed - but where’s the money?
It’s been a long drawn out process - for a cash sale with no onward purchase, it’s like a call centre of solicitors - constantly have to chase & get information for them which they are charging my son for.
Completed yesterday, but haven’t transferred the funds, even though the new buyer has the keys - their excuse is you complete one day & funds are transferred the next - still waiting for money to hit our account - over 24 hours 🤦🏻♀️ - don’t pick up the phone or answer emails - driving us round the bend. Have put the wheels in motion to make a formal complaint & investigate legislation authorities to see if their working practices of withholding money is legal.
CWC Manchester
CWC Manchester , DO NOT USE.
They do not not what they are doing. My house sale took 15 months because of their lack of knowledge and communication. The buyers mortgage offer ran out and they had to reapply at a higher interest rate because of their incompetence.
They are totally incompetent, blame you the customer when you query anything and can be quite aggressive in their stance, not accepting they have made any mistakes. They are uncaring, unsupportive and should not be used. User beware
Avoid this company
Avoid this company. My sale was aborted and I am now unable to get my Title & paperwork back from these cowboys. I have checked with my intended purchasers solicitor and they confirmed having sent paperwork beck to CCS solicitor who is now denying I ever sent them in the first place, even though they acknowledged them on their dashboard and purchasers solicitor received them. I have unsuccessfully tried to ascertain what has happened to them and with the bizarre obfuscating & change of answers I can only assume they have been binned. Neither the "Associate Property Lawyer" dealing with my sale or her manager appear to be registered as Conveyancers on any register that I can find. What absolute criminal behaviour.
Dreadful
Dreadful. Just dreadful. Our entire house move fell through on Friday 11 November, 2022 devastating my wife and four children, bearing in mind that our saga had been going on since March 2022.
We had the vans loaded up ready to go, and while it's not their fault our buyers pulled out on the day of the move, Countrywide's complete lack of urgency to find out what was going on has left our family with a sour taste about their services.
Toward the end of the process, we were pretty much doing all the chasing to see where things were at, and doing their job for them.
Completely unreliable. Sherissa in particular lacked any kind of control over the situation, often unavailable, including on the day of our move. She really, really lacked people skills.
Didn't hear from her until 15 November after everything had collapsed. When she did 'email' (not even a phone call) having learned of the move falling through, she opened with 'I trust all is well' - just shows the complete lack of care, attention, and sensitivity toward the situation.
We only used this service because we had to in order to maximise some of the benefits of our estate agent, Dixons. However, Countrywide's service is completely impersonal, and they can't wait to clear you off the phone quick enough.
A pure example of a slapdash conveyancing service that has no regard for customer service whatsoever. How this company has as many five star reviews as it does is baffling. We must have caught them at a bad time.
Please, please, please anyone reading this review, I urge you to disregard the five star reviews because they are not a true reflection of how this service copes when things aren't going smoothly.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID at all costs.
28 months after buying a new build i…
28 months after buying a new build i sell it..and then find Countrywide never even registered it with the land registry.! 5 weeks on and ive chased and chased and chased....nobody returns calls, or emails. Most staff dont even give out phone numbers. I can find no trace of any contact details for formal complaints. Im about to lose my sale because of the buyers mortgage offer expiring. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!
Do not use these incompetent cowboys
Do not use these incompetent cowboys, they are rude vile unprofessional they do not answer calls and emails they delay the process of your sale, I’m in the process of purchasing a property with 6 weeks to complete before my mortgage offer expires I’m going to loose the sale due to the incompetence of samrajit Singh in the Manchester branch an absolute cowboy at their job delay after delay avoiding buying a house via Taylor’s in Peterborough totally incompetent estate agents who recommend these incompetent cowboys to their vendors stay well clear of countrywide solicitors
terrible company don't look after…
terrible company don't look after people interests and dont understand they have life to organise when moving avoid at all cost and inform as many people as possible to avoid dealing with this company
The conveyancing Solicitor, TYRA
The conveyancing solicitor TYRA Should stop working for herself, and start looking after the clients who are paying her wages.
She never or raely phones you back, She will not listen to what you say, very rarly answers Emails except when it suits her.
Absolutely SHOCKING conveyancing…
Absolutely SHOCKING conveyancing service, in fact, no service at all . They do not respond to phone calls or emails from either my solicitor or estate agent. 16 weeks on and still waiting for a completion date because they don't answer calls or emails and do not respond in a timely manner. Moving house is stressful enough for people without having to deal with no communication and complete lack of professionalism.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND USE A LOCAL REPUTABLE CONVEYANCING FIRM.
Extremely bad experience I had with…
Extremely bad experience I had with this company. People don't make my mistake avoid this company and their shady business. Countrywide take 350£ feed from me that they shouldn't. They give me wrong type of contract to avoid protecting my deposit. I can't wait to take them to court. I want them to admit guilt in front of a judge so everyone could see how they are scaming people with money. This company should be shut down to protect people in future. Their shady business practice never stop during the years

DO NOT USE
They take your money for Stamp duty but do not pay it to the HMRC
This results in HMRC chasing you for the money that you have already paid!!!!
AVOID!!!! Absolutely shocking experience
Absolutely shocking experience. ZERO customer service. ZERO response to multiple phone calls, emails or msg's on that God awful conveyancing connect portal. I would AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Simply put, they do not give a shi7 about the level of service they provide or taking you on the journey.
Find a local firm and use them. At least they might answer your calls.
I've had to save the chain myself because my solicitor can't even return a phone call.
There is a land boundary query and based on these reviews. I doubt it will be resolved in a timely. As its my sellers solicitor leading with it, I very much it will be resolved this side of Christmas meaning new searches and renewed mortgage offer. It's beyond diabolical.
Hard to know where to start... but avoid
Hard to know where to start but wish we'd read the reviews first. This refers to the Manchester centre.
The service overall is frankly appalling. Don't be lured in by the online sharing portal, it's merely an illusion of efficiency for a week or two.
The call centre number, once you get through, offers up youngsters of limited experience who assure you the solicitor will get back to you. Listen hard and you can hear their colleagues having the same conversations in the background. Do they or the solicitor return your calls? They don't. Are they efficient? They're not. Amongst a myriad of annoyances too long to go into here, we waited weeks for our buyers' solicitor's queries to be forwarded to us, then weeks for our answers to be sent to the buyers' solicitor (we'll ignore the fact that 95% of the answers had been uploaded to the portal in week one - does anybody there ever read what you upload?).
If by chance you get a direct line to the solicitor (who we'll not name because, however frustratingly inefficient they are, they're also a victim of an inadequate and ill-thought through customer service model), that changes nothing, your message is left in a black hole. There is no support for the allocated solicitor and their excessive workload, so if they're absent for a few weeks, that's hard luck: they're catching up on all the other unfortunate clients too.
We had a move date for tomorrow advised by phone, but no email and nothing on the portal, so no trace. It fell through yesterday, advised by phone, no email and nothing on the portal, so no trace. Today the move is back on, for a week later, again advised by phone, no email and nothing on the portal, so no trace. Suggests a pattern.
Is it on? Who knows?
ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING.
Our buyers have used the Cardiff company for the purchase of our home and we are at our wits end with them. Our buyers are chain free as are we, so straight forward you’d think- wrong! Almost 6 months in and STILL they won’t commit to a completion date. We have extended our mortgage offer 3 times! I am currently 32 wks pregnant and the amount of stress this has caused it’s a wonder I haven’t gone into early labour! And to confound matters, the solicitor dealing with it is now on annual leave until the week our third and final offer expires. We now face the prospect of losing our purchase, a home it took a year to
find and is sat there waiting for us. They have had 6 months to sort out a straightforward purchase and are still raising convoluted last minute enquiries. I have complained to their head of department to no avail because I’m not their client but will be seeking legal advice and urging our buyers ( their client) to do the same. I cannot believe this company is allowed to operate and ruin peoples lives like this. Just avoid at all costs.
UPDATE: we accepted our buyers offer in September 2021. Due to market we secured our property in April 2022. In august countrywide decided to raise enquiries regarding a covenant on our property. That’s 4 months after being instructed. Their enquiries have taken over a month to answer; involved 2 councils, a management company, developer, 2 previous solicitors who dealt with our original purchase ( all without problems I might add) yet today we’ve heard that they are STILL not satisfied. We are now over our mortgage offer deadline. This company have been rude to our solicitor, actually asked the agent to stop calling them and because we’ve kicked up a fuss, we feel have deliberately and maliciously sabotaged our sale. We are now seeking legal advice.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Had the misfortune of encountering this company twice. 6 yrs ago bought a no chain property for cash, took 6 months & an official complaint to complete.
Now a short chain again all cash buyers delayed multiple times due to their utter incompetence (all the usual bad practices as stated in other reviews) must say that they are consistent in their behaviour. I’m baffled how a company with over 90% bad reviews can still be in business. For the sake of your sanity, please heed these reviews & avoid this company like the plague.
I wouldn't even rate the countrywide…
I wouldn't even rate the countrywide Manchester team 1 star, absolutely shocking service by Alan Slinn, and Simranjit Singh. Both were unprofessional, incompetent, and rude, they ignored emails and calls, and in 3 months only manged to increase their costs, refused to review documents, and struggled to even complete searches, which was the only thing they did in 3 months, until I got sick of the vile service and lack of progress and then changed my solicitors, I couldn't work with cowboys and longer they constantly provided incorrect information and lied, blamed the seller for delays! Avoid at all costs and do not waste your time or money using them!
Do NOT USE SHAMBOLIC
Absolutely do not use they can’t return a document amended with weeks so they obviously don’t know how use email. Our completion date was due a month ago and still not sorted they don’t respond they don’t act and looking at the reviews from others
Im surprised they are still operating absolutely terrible response times and waste of money and no customer service do not use them ever
