I had surgery with DrOben
I had surgery with Dr. Oben about two and a half months ago. First of all, I want to say that the staff is genuinely kind and caring. They looked after me very well throughout my stay, and everyone I met at the clinic was friendly and supportive.
Unfortunately, I am not happy with my results, and I feel it’s important to share my honest experience.
I had an endoscopic mid-face lift, a fox eye lift, and liposuction at 21 years old. The liposuction result is not exactly what I hoped for, but my biggest concern is the fox eye and mid-face lift.
Before surgery, I was not informed that I could end up with visible holes or dimples on the sides of my face. Nearly two and a half months later, they are still there, which means I cannot comfortably wear my hair behind my ears. I also have a noticeable dent in one cheek, and I still have significant swelling under my eyes. When I look down, my cheeks push up so much that my under-eye area looks unnatural. At this point, I honestly feel I looked better before surgery.
For the first month and a half, I wasn’t even able to fully close my eyes. I have followed every instruction carefully, including eating well and massaging the areas two to three times a day. About six weeks ago, I was told the dimples would disappear within three weeks, but they are still present. I was also told this was very uncommon, but because my recovery has been so prolonged, I don’t believe patients are fully prepared for the possibility of this happening.
I understand that healing takes time, and perhaps my final result will improve over the coming months. However, if I had known that the recovery would be this difficult and this long, I honestly would have reconsidered having the surgery. The healing process has been physically painful and emotionally difficult, especially because it has affected my confidence throughout the summer.
Another issue that really disappointed me was my privacy. After I woke up from surgery, my photos were posted on the clinic’s Instagram without my permission. This happened twice, even though I had never given consent. The posts were eventually removed, but it caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. I believe patient privacy should always be respected.
I also clearly explained before surgery that I did not want my eyebrows to be lifted because I have permanent makeup (microblading). Despite this, my eyebrows were still repositioned, which was not what I wanted.
I genuinely think Dr. Oben is a kind person, and I appreciate how friendly the staff were. This review is not meant to attack anyone—it is simply my honest experience. I hope my results improve with more time, but at this stage I am disappointed and unhappy with both the recovery process and my current appearance. I think future patients should be fully informed about the possibility of a long recovery, persistent swelling, facial dimples, and the importance of giving explicit consent before any patient photos are shared publicly.
