As a single mum it’s hard making money in between school runs. As someone who likes planning their own workload, walking and being outside this is a good solution.

Avoid Dor-2-Dor Oxford - they are untrustworthy

Our Oxford franchisee launched his new business in June and has been devastated by Dor-2-Dor Oxford, who were paid over £700 and failed to deliver 10,000 leaflets to potential customers in Oxford, leaving him with barely any clients over the busy Summer holiday months.

They agreed to deliver the flyers by 15 June 2022 - 30 June at the latest. Unfortunately, once payment had been made, they went very quiet

We had to chase constantly for progress throughout June - they lied to us, saying that the delivery was underway. On 1st July, Dor-2-Dor confirmed by email that all 10,000 flyers had been distributed.

It was only after we started asking questions after not having received one enquiry that on 11 July 2022, Dor-2-Dor subsequently admitted that 7,000 of the leaflets had not been delivered and were still sitting in their depot. We have yet to see verifiable proof that even 3,000 flyers were delivered.

As a fledgeling business, it’s been an incredibly stressful time for our franchisee, as he had just launched his business, having been made redundant from his previous job. As explained to Dor-2-Dor, it was very important that the flyers go out as agreed in June to capture the Summer market.

As a result of Dor-2-Door's dishonesty, our franchisee completely missed the summer holiday market as it was too late to send out flyers in July when the schools broke up, and families would have already made plans.

We are sure this is not the first time that Dor-2-Dor Oxford has tried to scam others - it was only after we took a very firm stance that they admitted they had been dishonest and refunded the payment made to them.

I hope by telling our story will save another small business from using this company and wasting their valuable time and money.

Dear Sandra. This is Geoff Brown franchisee owner of DOR-2-DOR (Oxford). I tried to rectify the delay with an immediate distribution of your remaining 7,000 leaflets but you refused this. Therefore I refunded your entire invoice immediately, took the remaining leaflets back to your franchisee as you requested, having already offered to distribute these free of charge at a later, convenient date, and even offered to re-imburse you for the printing of your full 10,000 leaflets. We do not like to let clients down, and feel we have done as much as possible to correct our mistake. Geoff Brown, Owner, Dor 2 Dor Oxford.

Employee Benefits

Have been working for the Northampton franchise since lockdown and the benefit for my mental and physical health has been wonderful. I have seen many parts of our town that I never knew existed and have been rewarded when I was able to gain a new customer for the franchise. The franchisee often tries to allocate me rounds that fit in with my other work as a mobile cleaner.

My personal review on Dor-2-Dor.

Hi, I was looking for some extra money as I had lost a paper round, it was Covid related & the round has not been put back into service where I live. I happened on Dor-2-Dor whilst scouring the internet & got in touch. Within a week I was delivering leaflets for them & their clients in areas that suited both our needs. I only wanted part time on my spare days & it has worked out fine. I find it easy to work for them as you can email or ring if you have an issue or need information. Payment for work done & records are good & it is self employed. Some weeks you may not be needed, but that's time to get on with some homework that you need to catch up on. The leaflets are very good quality & I would recommend this service to those who wish to get noticed. I have already covered many miles delivering thousands of leaflets & many people have been interested in one or another. I hope that through Dor-2-Dor, that I bring a solution to a problem that people may have & a way to resolve it easily. If you have some spare time & you like walking, or you need to get fit anyway, this is a great way to achieve a goal & earn some money to boot. Thanks Dor-2-Dor.

Resposta da DOR-2-DOR

At DOR-2-DOR, we do, of course, respect your right not to have unaddressed material through your letterbox. However, these can sometimes be missed by our or any delivery company, so we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you.

May we please take this opportunity to give you some vital information about what we do and our industry.

The European Union and the UK government want to see paper going into landfill reduced, and recycling increased and are keen for effective systems to be put in place to reduce the number of unwanted leaflets inserted in magazines sold at your local newsagents and leaflets and other material that's posted through your letterbox reduced and minimised.

With door drops, the main logistical problem is making sure our Post Person doesn't put the leaflet through the letterbox of the homes that don't want it. This may seem a simple problem to overcome; however, in practice, there are issues. We give our Post People a map of the delivery area showing streets for the drop area, and the deliverer happily goes on their round. The delivery process is entirely mechanical and automatic, and they sometimes have headphones on. If there is a notice by the letterbox, our Post Person may miss it and push the unwanted leaflet through the letterbox.

We use the recommended method from the Data & Marketing Association, which is to give the deliverer a list of addresses not to deliverer to, and we mark it on the map that they are following. This works well, but sometimes if the Post Person loses concentration for one reason or another, unwanted letterboxes can still get posted.

Now I guess you might say, well, why does junk mail have to exist at all? Why can't we ban it? The truth is it works, and over 90% of the population don't really mind getting the latest Pizza menu from their local restaurant or a special offer from a fitness club, or a message from a garden maintenance man plying his trade. The fact is that it works, and it especially works for local businesses.

It's a relatively low cost, so it is helping the local business community and creates jobs. More people working means more taxes collected, resulting in better hospitals and schools, infrastructure and social services etc. In fact, the DMA statistics show that the direct marketing industry injects over £45 billion annually into the national economy, and that's a lot of schools and hospitals etc. So it's a little bit of junk mail that perhaps you don't want can do a lot of good for many people.

Finally, some facts regarding paper and trees. Two Sides the print industry voice tells us that 94.4% of the paper we use comes from European forests and that these forests are growing by an area the size of Greece every year, that's 1.5 million football fields or four times the area of greater London and paper can easily be recycled. More trees for paper means less CO2, so it's positively affecting the environment.

More importantly, the environmental impact of electronic communication cannot be ignored. - The ICT industry accounts for approximately 2% of global emissions. Annually Global Cloud computing demands twice as much electricity as the entire United Kingdom. 9 million tonnes of e-waste from goods such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets is generated.

Print and paper can be a sustainable way to communicate; many consumers still value it, including the younger generations.

We apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced.
