Streamlined and knowledgeable
The whole process was very straightforward and every interaction with the team from booking through to survey, the report and subsequent meetings with both Knight Frank and George Haines felt very personal and that all advice provided was objective and well-informed.
The surveyor was happy for me to ask lots of questions about the process and also mindful of the fact our tenants were working from home and needed not to be disturbed.
The conversation with George, the Retrofit Coordinator was really valuable. There was no hurry or sales pitch. Responses to our questions were objective and well-informed and where there was something we asked about which he was less familiar with, he took away to check and followed up promptly. He was comfortable looking at the detail of the EPC calculation whilst also discussing how different measures would impact outcomes at a practical level. Really impressed.

Disappointing
The house survey was well done, though it would have been better if they had used our actual energy consumption figures. The report was disappointing. Despite clear claims that their recommendations would be split into stages, heat pump, under-floor insulation & solar panels were all in one stage, with no breakdowns of each separately. The estimated cost of this stage was much higher than the amount had told them we were willing to pay. There were also some idiocies. For example, the figure for energy loss from the system was exactly the same as the estimate for energy used by our woodburner.
The report was useful in that it alerted us to the need for underfloor insulation, but little else.

We’re glad the house survey met your expectations and grateful the report helped highlight the need for underfloor insulation, but we’re disappointed the rest of the report didn’t fully deliver what you were hoping for. We’ve taken your comments seriously and wanted to respond to each of your points.
On the energy usage figures -- you’re absolutely right that using actual consumption data can improve accuracy. Based on feedback like yours, we now routinely ask for this information and use it to inform our modelling. That said, not everyone has easy access to their usage data or wants that level of detail, so we’ve aimed to strike a balance. The report is designed to show the relative impact of different measures rather than match your bills exactly, as usage can vary a lot depending on lifestyle, tariffs, and other factors. We’ve updated our guidance to make this clearer in the Ecofurb Plan and in our FAQs.
Regarding the recommendations and costings -- we reissued a revised version of your Ecofurb Plan in January following our feedback session, with a clearer breakdown of works across three phases. The report process usually has two stages, with the 30-minute feedback session helping shape the final version. While the total estimated cost of all measures was high, this reflects the full package of improvements. The budget range you provided helps guide prioritisation, especially since many homeowners aren’t sure what retrofit measures typically cost, and the idea is to help you focus on the phases or measures that are most relevant to you. However, we didn’t follow up after reissuing your report to confirm you’d received it and were happy with the changes, and we’re genuinely sorry for that oversight.
As for the identical figures for system losses and wood burner usage -- we’ve double-checked the data and it’s purely a coincidence. The system losses refer to things like flue heat loss from boilers, and the wood burner figure is based on standard assumptions for secondary heating. We understand how this could look odd, and we’ll take this as a prompt to make those sections clearer in future reports.

Ecofurb essential when considering environmentally heating systems
The initial Report wasvery thorough. It was very informative and essential when considering an environmental friendly domestic heating plan. I have always received prompt response and deferred to an expert company. If you have not installed this type of system before ecofurb should definitely be used
