I've never written a bad review about a company but hard not to feel like i've been scammed by a cowboy roofer here. In Autumn/winter 2025 we had a quote for a leaky gutter repair with wooden fascia to be repaired where bits had been rotten from dripping water. Then it should have been cleaned down to a paintable finish. (Written pretty much like this in the quote) We paid just under £6k for the work carried out. As of now it's still leaking in various bits of the gutter. They came out on March (three months after their supposed fix) which was a supposed 'goodwill gesture' put a wee bit of coating inside and left. They give no work guarantee on roof repairs and the MD Paul sent me an email saying that old cast iron gutters basically can't be fixed. Shame they felt happy to take our money and never mentioned that when quoting. Then today our painter came to complete our external paint work - there were huge chunks of wood not repaired at all with holes in the wooden fascia. You couldn't really see it from the ground due to the old paint job (but someone with a ladder would have i.e them!) They also failed to prepared for painting - as per their quote, so I've paid our painter more to do this today. So I'm really disappointed, literally not one bit of the work carried out by Essence was to the quote specification. £6k down the drain and we need to get someone else to rectify both the gutter and joinery. Happy to share emails and pictures with anyone thinking of using this company. We've spend a fortune on this renovation and had a lovely relationship with other contractors but this is the first company to be so abysmally
bad. Like I said I don't leave bad reviews but this company has genuinely left a bad taste in my mouth for wasting our hard earned money. We were duped by such great reviews. 😔

I got my roof looked at person that came told my gutter just need attached in stead of realigned they came done the work fitted few tile and left customer service was bad told them I wasn’t happen the response was I have to stick up for my boys so my complaint went know-where opinion wasn’t valid or considered it has left me having to get new gutter I believe I still have warranty i still would want them touching it so waste of 800 pounds literally for few tiles in my opinion I wouldn’t have these people go near my roof again and there customer service was rude and unprofessional

It was a great team to work with. They completed the job on the allocated time, made no fuss and no mess left behind. They completed the job perfectly. I totally recommend their services and will use them again in the future.

I had a complete re-roof to my existing house and then a new roof to my extension. The company were great, arrived on time and did a fantastic job. The price was amazing!!!

I fully recommend Essence Roofing. We engaged them on a big roof repair and from the quotation all the way through to completion they have been brilliant. Knowledgeable, detailed about what materials they will use, honest and hard working. They worked through some of the worst weather, always helpful, always cheerful and great at communicating all along the way. They never upped the price and left the site tidy at the end.

Essence responded really quickly to my emails and calls, after a different company failed to finish two flat roofs properly and never returned to fix them, which was causing huge drips from guttering. The Essence team were really knowledgeable about the issues and provided a solution that holds up to this day. They were tidy, courteous, professional and turned up when they said they would. I would highly recommend them and use them again.

I called essence after seeing them complete a lovely looking job in my street. Process was very professional from first call to carrying out and completing the work. Cant recommend enough , great company!

Having tried for some time to get a roofer to replace our gutters and lead flashing around chimneys, I contacted Essence Roofing & Building Services after seeing their vans in my area. Within 24 hours they had surveyed and quoted for the work which included photographs.
Carrying out the work the 2 Paul’s and the team were always courteous and professional and did an excellent job(no more leaks). Well done all. Would highly recommend

I can not recommend enough - Before quoting, Ryan came out to meet us and talk about the job in hand - in comparison to others we had quotes from, he was much more aware and picked up on multiple things no one else noticed and was very pleasant. We had complete confidence in essence roofing. A great company with its customers at the heart.
