OM System 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 M.Zuiko Digital ED IS II Lens faulty on delivery
I wanted a camera suitable for long hikes and for photography birds on the local mudflats. The marketing for OM System MFT camera was compelling. I purchased an OM System OM-1 camera bundle with an additional OM System 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 M.Zuiko Digital ED IS II Lens on Black Friday as my Christmas present. After Christmas I tried to use the 100-400mm lens. It worked for about 5 minutes then it would no longer focus, even manually. I thought I was doing something wrong or had messed up settings as I am unfamiliar with these cameras.
Next time I tried it the same thing happened, worked for about 5 minutes then stopped working. This time in the settings I could see a message about not being unable to obtain lens data.
I returned the lens to Park Cameras for assessment.
They discovered two problems, repaired the lens and returned it. As the lens had been purchased more than 30 days previously, they would not replace the brand new lens. I feel that instead of getting the brand new lens I purchased I have instead a repaired lens.
My confidence in the system and my belief in the marketing has been severely dented. Buyers remorse has set in big time.
Buyers should be aware...
* OM System Quality Control is suspect.
* Build quality is suspect.
* Beware of the 30 day limit for replacement lenses, test new lens thoroughly on receipt.
OM Systems to the rescue.
I placed an order with OM Systems on December 16 and it was shipped on December 18. I figured it might be held up because of the holidays and I was okay with that.
I followed the Fedex tracking to Woodbridge Ontario where it was held at customs for several weeks with no explanation as to why. The shipment subsequently was sent back to OM Systems.
I got in touch with OM Systems and was greeted with the upmost respect and understanding of the situation. Since the shipment was never opened (because I never received it) OM Systems immediately re-shipped.
I could not have asked for better service from a company. I now have the gear. Thank you OM Systems for always coming through.
Pay for express delivery so you get…
Pay for express delivery so you get your product(s)... Whenever. No rush whatsoever. They take the additional money and just take their sweet time. Going on a week and the order which only had an "in stock for immediate shipping" item in it has not moved. Still "processing". No reply to queries about the status or cause of the delay. I'm switching to Panasonic, no need for any more OM junk.
Update Feb 11. After a long wait, I got a reply from OM saying they did not have the item in stock, which caused the delay. They also said they would refund the express shipping. To date, they have NOT. Avoid them at all cost!

Kommunikation ist mangelhaft
Die Hardware (Kameras, Objektive) sind top.
Absolut unzureichend ist jedoch die Kommunikation mit dem Support (oder wer auch immer den E-Mail-Verkehr bearbeitet). Keine oder absolut verspätete Reaktion auf Anfragen, Ignorieren von Bestellstornierung etc.
Snails pace delivery, no reply to emails.
I ordered a lens on 02/12/2025. Being keen to get it I paid £8+ for EXPRESS DELIVERY. It was finally despatched on the 9th, arriving on the 10th. (Many thanks to DHL for their service.)
I had meanwhile sent 4 emails to OMUK (the only means of contacting them) asking why my lens had not been sent. So far I've had no reply. It turns out that OMSYSTEMS UK are based in Cologne Germany! (Again I know this from DHL's excellent tracking.)
I RECOMMEND BUYING FROM A REAL UK DEALER and not this useless lot.

Da sempre compro olympus il l mio primo corpo macchina reflex a 14 anni e ho sempre comprato Olympus da allora, di recente ho acquistato da OM Systems sul loro store un obbiettivo zuiko OM 75-300 in promozione del black Friday a parte un leggero ritardo dovuto ad un problema di approvvigionamento di scorte l obbiettivo mi è arrivato ed è fantastico luminoso senza aberrazioni nitido ai lati anche alla massima apertura l autofocus lavora in automatico senza tentennamenti anche alla focale piu lunga grazie Olympus ora OM systems di esistere al prossimo acquisto.
Is this a scam or sheer incompetence?
This is the third O M Systems cashback that I have applied for this year. Each time I have had multiple issues: website not accepting payment details, poor instructions, inability to upload a pdf of sales invoice, several requests for the same information, huge delays on payment after approval given. My latest application was given approval on 7th Nov and told it would take up to 10 days, I emailed to chase them last week and was told it would be made in the next few days. Now 26 Nov and another email stating I had not responded to the request for more information.
Is this complete incompetence or have they been told by HQ to slow things down? My latest OM camera I actually decided to purchase second hand even though for another £100 I could buy new with cashback simply because I am done with this I'll not buy new OM Systems again.

Ordered an omsystem camera with 2 lenses. Roughly £1000 of equipment which is a considerable amount of money for myself.
I was in the house with 2 other family members when the courier arrived. There were 2 cars parked at the door. The courier left the parcel and immediately left before I got the door open. The parcel was open and the courier would have been aware of this. The camera in the parcel did not work.
I spent a day trying to obtain contact details to return the camera which were extremely hard to find. After nearly 2 weeks and 10 online communications a return label was finally sent. The box I received was 2.5 kg.
Do not deal with this "shower"

Hab bei OM System ein ziemlich teures Objektiv gekauft und kurz nachdem ich es gekauft habe startete dort eine Cash Back Aktion, Ich habe den Service dort angeschrieben und mir wurde innerhalb von einem Tag versichert, dass ich aus Kulanz meinen Cash BAck einreichen kann. Ach ja und meine eigentliche Bestellung im Shop war innerhalb von weniger als 48Std bei mir. Also deutlich schneller als erwartet.
Promised Cashback, Delivered Headaches
I participated in the summer cashback promotion. As part of the application, I was asked to submit the original invoice—so far, so good. Then, I received an email stating that a response would follow within 14 days. Unfortunately, long after that deadline, no reply came. And without an account, I wasn’t able to view any further updates.
After that, I submitted a request via the support channel to check the status—once again, no response. So I created an account and resubmitted the cashback request to ensure I could track its progress if things went wrong again. Still no reply. The only thing that does seem to work perfectly is the steady stream of promotional newsletters I’ve been receiving ever since.
I then sent another email requesting a status update. This time I finally got an answer—but unlike the original application form, they now requested a photo of the camera and a photo of the box (which had already ended up in the trash). I also received a message saying the application had been closed due to duplication, with a suggestion to start a new application…
I’m currently waiting for a response to my email with the photo of the camera and box, but I have little confidence in a positive outcome. I’ll keep you posted.
Bastante que mejorar
Compré un objetivo con una oferta bastante interesante en su web.
Me mandaron un código de seguimiento que no funcionaba y al pasar los días contacté con OM-System y tardaron una semana en responder para enviarme el código de envío y la empresa encargada del mismo, que en este caso era UPS.
Cuando recibí la información el plazo de recogida ya había expirado, pero por suerte el paquete seguía en el punto donde UPS lo había entregado.
Creo que han fallado tanto OMS-System como UPS. No es normal que una página oficial de olympus, que vende artículos por lo general, caros, tarde tanto tiempo en dar respuesta a las reclamaciones. Por otro lado, UPS o no intentó dejar el paquete en mi domicilio o si lo hizo y no estaba en casa, no dejó aviso de que realizaba la entrega en otro punto.
Creo que OMS-SYSTEM tiene bastante que mejorar respecto a la atención al cliente (velocidad de respuesta) y a la información que proporciona sobre los envíos que realiza.
En primer momento les puse 1 estrella, también abrí una disputa en PayPal. Creo que sí volviera a comprar en este comercio digital, cosa que me pensaría, lo haría siempre a través de PayPal para tener alguna manera de poder presionar si hay problemas, porque verdaderamente su atención al cliente es bastante lenta, aunque la información que me dieron finalmente era la adecuada.
Por lo demás, hay que reconocer que a veces ponen buenas ofertas y es una oportunidad para conseguir material fotográfico de muy buena calidad a un precio más razonable.
OM-Sytem TG7 Mängelbehaftet
Nachdem ich die TG5 und TG6 zu meiner vollsten Zufriedenheit genutzt hatte war es nur logisch das ich mir Rahmen der Anschaffung einer OM1 MK II auch die neue TG7 zulegte.
Leider war es ganz offensichtlich eine Fehlentscheidung als ich mir am 28.06.2024 auch die Kamera vom Typ OM-System TG-7 direkt bei OM-System gekauft habe.
Seit dem Kauf ist die Kamera mehrfach defekt gewesen und war bereits DREIMAL zur Reparatur. Trotz mehrerer Nachbesserungsversuche durch die Serviceabteilung in Portugal, zuletzt am 22.05.2025 wurden die Mängel nicht dauerhaft behoben.
Reparaturen / Mängel:
Display hat in der waagerechten keine Anzeige muss in die Vertikale gedreht werden.

Mit Hinweis auf einen Kunden, der ein identisches Problem hatte, wo dann die Rückseite ersetzt wurde, erneut nach Portugal geschickt.
Servicebericht vom 22.05.2025 - Rückseitige Abdeckung wurde ersetzt
Aktuell gemeldete Störung die mich dazu veranlasst auf die Rückabwicklung zu bestehen.
Die Kamera wechselt beim Einschalten gelegentlich in einen undefinierbaren Modus, sie schaltet sich aus und wieder ein. Dieser Zustand kann nur durch Entfernen des Akkus unterbrochen werden.
Ebenso verhält es sich mit dem Displayproblem in der Waggerechten es tritt immer noch sporadisch auf, obwohl auch dies angeblich behoben wurde. Damit liegt weiterhin ein Sachmangel im Sinne des § 434 BGB vor.
Gemäß § 440 BGB gilt die Nachbesserung als fehlgeschlagen, wenn der Mangel nach zwei erfolglosen Reparaturversuchen weiterhin besteht. Dies ist hier eindeutig der Fall.
OM-System sieht dies jedoch anders und erwartet eine erneute Einsednung, die VIERTE in nur 12 Monaten, um die Kamera in einen ordnungsgemäßen Zustand zu versetzten. Ich habe weder Vertrauen in die Fähigkeiten der Serviceabteilung noch bin ich gewillt die Kamera erneut zu einem völlig sinnfreien Reparaturversuch nach Portugal zu schicken. Würde OM-System mehr Augenmerk auf Kundenzufriedenheit legen, könnte möglicherweise die wöchentlichen Rabataktionen auf einen monatlichen wenn nicht sogar einen vierteljährlichen Modus gelegt werden. Aggressive Werbung hilft nicht wenn der Service nicht stimmt. Bei dem Wechsel von Olympus zu OM-System wurden nicht alle Bereiche berücksichtigt, bei Olympus stimmte der Service!
