On arrival to our hotel in Memphis

On arrival to our hotel in Memphis, we were told we couldn’t stay there as the National Guard had booked the hotel since October. It was now end of January. The receptionist told us not to worry and she would phone round to get us a room. It was late and we were tired. This took 90 mins, waiting in reception. As it was late it was difficult to get a taxi so some of the National guard took us in there vehicle. On arrival at the holiday Inn we had to pay for the 2 nights stay, even though we’d paid everything upfront. We were also told that the hot water may not be working. Throughout our stay there was no hot water which wasn’t great as it was down to -9oc at times. It took almost 2 months for galaxy cruises to refund the hotel cost with no compensation. I would never book with this company again.

Thank you for your message. I am very sorry for the distress and inconvenience you experienced in Memphis.

I understand how upsetting this must have been, especially after a long journey, being told your booked hotel could not accommodate you, then having to wait late at night for alternative arrangements. I also appreciate how uncomfortable the replacement stay must have been without hot water, particularly in such cold weather.

This was not the standard of service we expect for our customers. Please be assured that as soon as we received the refund from the hotel, we processed it straight away back to your original method of payment. I appreciate that the matter took almost two months to resolve and understand why this added to your frustration. The timescale was due to the supplier’s refund process and normal banking processing times, which were unfortunately outside our control.

We have raised this matter with the supplier concerned and are sorry that this experience affected your confidence in booking with us.

Terrible communication and lots of errors

Up until we paid the final balance for the holiday, everything was good. Brian had done a good job of selling us the cruise and our review at that time reflected that experience. Unfortunately everything went downhill rapidly after we had paid in full.
Communication was dreadful. What we did receive was littered with mistakes. Wrong flight times. Wrong passenger names. Flight times changed so that instead of a 2 hour wait for a connecting flight, it increased to 14 hours with no accommodation. We were given incorrect information on meal plans and no information on transfers.
With only 13 days to go before the holiday I had to email a list of 20 questions about information I hadn't received. Totally unacceptable.
When we arrived in Florida we had a dreadful experience with the taxi transfer. We complained to Galaxy Cruises. They used the same taxi company to transfer us to the Cruise Terminal. Unfortunately it didn't turn up. This was very stressful as we had a time slot for boarding. We ended up paying $100 to get a taxi booked by the hotel. Galaxy had failed to give us emergency contact details for Florida even though I had requested them.
It took weeks of constant complaining before Galaxy finally refunded this money.
We also had to pay over $70 in hotel taxes that we had not been told about.
We didn't know that this was a group holiday but when we were leaving the cruise and transferring to the hotel in Lima we realised that we were in a group of 23. Many of this group had experienced the same issues as us regarding Communication and taxis not turning up.
This was an expensive holiday, all of which I could have booked myself. The reason why I used an agent was to ensure that the transfers went smoothly. I'm very disappointed that I spent so much and received such poor service.
I would definitely not recommend Galaxy and won't be using them again.

What you’ve described around poor communication, incorrect documentation, and lack of clarity on key elements like transfers, meal plans, and additional charges is not the standard we aim to deliver. The issues with your flights, the extended layover, and the errors in passenger details are especially concerning, and we understand how stressful this must have been so close to your departure.

I’m also very sorry to hear about the transfer problems in Florida, including the taxi not arriving for your cruise departure and the lack of emergency contact support. This is clearly unacceptable, and we completely understand the anxiety this would have caused, particularly with a boarding time to meet. While I’m glad the cost was eventually refunded, it should not have required repeated follow-ups from your side.

Your comments regarding the undisclosed hotel taxes and the lack of communication about travelling as part of a group are equally important and will be reviewed internally. It’s concerning to hear that others in your group experienced similar issues, and this will be investigated thoroughly with both our team and our local suppliers.

We genuinely regret that your experience did not reflect the level of service you expected, especially for such an important and high-value trip. Your feedback has been shared with the relevant departments so we can address these failings and prevent this happening again in the future.

Excellent cruise holiday and trips

We haven't long come back from a cruise plus trips cruise/holiday and I have to say the trip was amazing. Galaxy were brilliant, the organisation was brilliant. Everything went to plan. Flights, transfers and hotels were excellent. They are the best cruise company we have used to date. Will definitely book through Galaxy again

Terrific value

I was in the process of booking an Asian cruise via my local travel agent when referred to Galaxy Travel via Travel Zoo.

Brian Smith was my representative and his advice and guidance was invaluable.

Costs were significantly reduced. Additional benefits including private transfers and a full day Tokyo excursion obtained at no additional cost. Most days Brian was available until 7.30 pm which was a real help.

Great Experience- Returning customer.

Five star service all the way!

I was impressed with the efficiency of the booking process and all the helpful information that was provided about my trip. While I was away I was kept informed about transfers and timings.

First time I booked with this company and the experience was very good.
