I chose Galya Health because people I trust had been there before me and their feedback, along with consistently strong reviews, gave me the confidence to book. Nine days post-op (gastric bypass), back home in Brisbane and heading to my GP to continue the journey, I can honestly say the experience lived up to every bit of that trust.

From the first message, Senem's communication was outstanding. She answered every question I had before I arrived, made sure the team had everything they needed from me, and kept my husband (who travelled with me as my support) equally informed. Once we were there, Sadik and Ahmet who greeted us were brilliant as our translators - patient, clear, and always on hand. Google Translate filled in the finer details, and my advice to anyone going is: ask every question you have and lean on the tools available to you. Language was never a barrier.

The pre-surgery process was thorough. They left no stone unturned - dietician, surgeon, psychologist, anesthetist, GP - all lined up to make sure I was ready. That level of care upfront matters.

The surgeons were wonderful. They held my hand, saw me every day, and I felt completely safe in their hands. The nursing staff were efficient and capable, and while the cultural style is very different to what I'm used to as a wahine Māori - more direct, more regimented, less overt warmth on first meeting - once we connected through humour and a bit of language, I found them deeply caring. My favourite nurse used to pinch my cheeks to keep me smiling, and that kind of moment stays with you. Even the cleaners and food staff looked after us both beautifully in our room. My husband was well fed, well informed, and well cared for alongside me.

The hospital and private room were exactly what we needed. During recovery they made sure I was up walking, taking my medications on time, and my questions were always answered.

My honest reflection: Galya is regimented in the best sense of the word - efficient, focused, expert. They do this surgery all the time and it shows. If you're going in expecting the relational warmth of home, know that the warmth is there, it just reveals itself differently. Be open to the cultural differences, use Google Translate, ask every question, and trust the process.

As scary as this was, I reflect now and think - I did this, on the other side of the world, in a completely different country, culture, and language, and it was great. I trusted what others had told me, and I'd pass that trust on without hesitation.

Senem and her team are fantastic at what they do. They went above and beyond for myself and my support person. We got the VIP treatment right from when we stepped of the plane with a great transfer service. The Galya health team were with us the whole way through pre op testing and after surgery. The nurses, doctors and other hospital staff were very caring and everything runs like a well oiled machine. I would recommend Galya health to anyone.

Choosing to have my Gastric Sleeve in Turkey was a big decision, but the team here made it a seamless experience. They provided caring and reassuring clinical expertise with genuine support. They really go above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable and well-informed.
I was particularly impressed by how friendly and attentive everyone was. Even despite the language barrier, the staff made a massive effort to ensure I understood my care plan. I felt safe and supported throughout the entire journey. I would definitely recommend Galya Health to anyone wanting to undertake a procedure here. Galya Health was soooo amazing to work with. Everything was very easy and seamless. I am a naturally nervous person and when it came time to actually book in with the Galya, Senem made the whole process so easy and not one detail had been missed. Everyone that Senem organised knew exactly who we were and where we were going. When we got to the hospital everything happened really fast which I appreciated so much. The surgeons were amazing!!!! Although stern, I just knew that they cared about the patients. The nurses, translators and other hospital staff were the best and knew exactly what they were doing and offered so much support. There was always someone around if I needed help with anything. If I had the choice to do it all again I would 100% do it with Galya health.

I’ve recently returned from Istanbul after having gastric sleeve surgery, and honestly everything went so smoothly. I was a bit uneasy travelling with everything going on in the world, but Senem reassured me the whole way that there was nothing to worry about—and she was absolutely right. I also missed my flight home, and even though her job was technically done, Senem went above and beyond to help me. She organised accommodation for me and made sure I was safe and back at the hotel until I could catch my next flight.

As soon as I arrived, Sadik took care of everything. He organised all my pre-op appointments, translated everything for me, and was so informative and friendly. Arriving in a foreign country not knowing anything can be overwhelming, but he made me feel completely safe and comfortable.

Overall, my experience with Galya Health was 10/10—I genuinely can’t fault it. I would definitely go back again. The surgery went really well, and I even spent my last few days exploring Sultanahmet, visiting mosques, and meeting locals. Such a beautiful place—I can’t wait to return again soon! ☺️

Travelling 17,000km for surgery was a massive decision, and one that took me a minute to decide on. Im 2weeks post op from gastric sleeve with Gayla Health and feeling good.
Here are my takeaways...
Senem and the translator team are fantastic. Transfers between airport, hotel and hospital are luxury vehicles with very friendly drivers. The surgeons did a wonderful job. Istanbul is an incredible part of the world. The hospital itself was clean and comfortable.
I do have some negatives however, hence the 4stars and they are not to do with Galya, but the hospital staff.
The nursing staff were not overly attentive, and I had to keep calling them to remove/change my fluid bag as I was left for hours hooked up.
When I was wheeled into theater, not a single person spoke to me to advise what was happening, I was already nervous and this heightened my anxiety.
While having lines put in my hands, the nurse had her phone between her shoulder and ear chatting to someone and stuck me in the wrong place causing a massive instant bruise and pain.
There was no countdown to goingbunder anesthetic, someone just pushed the mask on my face while I wasn't looking, then I woke up when it was all done.
I feel that whole experience could have been better if I was communicated with during prep for the operation.
The Lionel Hotel was clean and very comfortable. The room came with breakfast for my support person and myself, I only wish the restaurant had some soups on the menu I could enjoy, as I was liquid only at this time.
Overall, im glad I went with Galya but I hope that others have a better experience with hospital staff than I did.

Great service from airport pick up to drop off. You are well looked after by everyone - even the sweet cleaner. Our main contacts are very good with translations and helpful when we had questions. Definitely had nerves but was reassured along the way. After care in hospital was amazing, my support person was also well looked rather - many shops/mini supermarkets very near hospital so she was able to go for a wander take pics of cats and buy food, hospital also feeds them and there is a cafeteria onsite. Room was very nice with own bathroom and great views! Hotel Lionel for post hospital is very nice too! Happy with progress so far, thank you Galya!

An amazing life changing experience, I would highly recommend Galya. Beautiful people top notch professional pre & post care during my surgery & stay. Being my first time to Turkey I felt safe al my needs taken care of, and the Hotel stay with meals included was 5 star experience and I would definitely return. Senem was an amazing liaison for me and my friends absolutely a blessing to work with and everything was perfect

From the transfers from the airport to the amazing care of the doctors and nurses at Galya, I would highly recommend them if you are serious about bariatric surgery. Our timing, we didn't get to experience your country, but i will say, I'll be back. 🫶 so make sure you book an extra couple of days.

Senem and Sadik from Gayla health were awesome! They were incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive. The doctors and nurses were great and so lovely.

The service is very professional, accurate and most of all 100% safe. The fact that it is value for money is a bonus. In comparison to Thailand where I was heading this was $10,000 cheaper with a better outcome and I wasn't feeling like I was being liked for more and more money. The translators are excellent are there all they way from beginning to end.

Beginning to end, I absolutely loved my experience with Galya Health. We were so well looked after by Senem and her team. Communication was relatively quick via WhatsApp, even with the time zone differences, which made the whole process feel easy and reassuring.
The hospital stay was lovely, and Senem and her team took great care of us the entire time. I also really appreciate that they continue to check in via WhatsApp - it doesn’t feel like you’re just on your own once you leave.
I’m really happy with my surgery and my results so far. The hotel was top tier as well, which made the whole experience even better. I would absolutely recommend Galya Health to anyone considering gastric surgery in Türkiye.

I went through Galya Health for my gastric sleeve and i highly recommend. Senem and Sadik were so helpful and supportive of my journey through this process. Also, Senem was always so prompt in responding to any questions I had in the lead up. From the time I got there to the time I left the service was efficient and effective and I am so grateful as being in a foreign country across the world where English is not the main language, it was daunting and gave me anxiety before going. Galya Health is the best! Both my mum and I came here to Istanbul expecting only to receive the bare minimum like we do back home in NZ, but their service, patient care and genuine support for everyone who come through their service is beyond exceptional.

Hatun - from the moment we entered our hospital room she ensured we were taken care of. As I was alone when I came out of surgery, she ensured my room was warm and clean and did her utmost best to ensure I was as comfortable as I could be having just came out of surgery.

The cleanliness and overall service of the hospital is amazing. They ensure your room is always kept clean and hygienic, ensure you are well looked after and so on. The medical team are also amazing, the surgeons checked up on both of us every day until discharge and came to wish a safe trip back to NZ.

Will definitely recommend for anyone who is wanting to come in a group or even alone, they will ensure you are taken care of every step of the way!
