Absolutely fantastic experience with Lucy and the rest of the Wilmslow team. We chose to buy and sell with Gascoigne Halman and the whole process was a breeze. Couldn’t recommend them enough!

Frances Mason used our family to pump up other offers for the seller. She confirmed after a long and arduous process we'd had our offer accepted. She then encouraged the vendor and buyers carry on viewings in our opinion to gazump us. She knowing didn't send out a memorandum of sale to us for 5 days whilst getting other parties to outbid us. After we paid for searches etc Frances informed us someone had come in with another bid.......from there played us off as an auction for bidding. Then told us we didn't get the house. The next day it was put as STC for the other buyer. Something she refused to do for us in 5 days. She openly admitted on the phone she knew of another bid hence when she didn't do the memorandum of sale.

She let us pay for searches while using us a pawn. It was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with any kind of company. There was no remorse and I don't know how she sleeps at night for a little but extra of commission.

Openly trying to get improved offers and more viewing whilst sending us acceptance confirmation and letting us pay fees is a very very underhanded trick.

I would be very wary of letting these guys manage the rental of anything! Purchased a property via gascoigne and Halman, that has previously been tenanted (managed by gascoigne and halman), and it’s been a horrible experience. When we viewed the property it was filthy, so offered full asking on the agreement it be professionally cleaned. When we moved in, not only was it still dirty but we quickly discovered it had a serious flea infestation! When I flagged the flea issue to the chapel offIce they were helpful and did try to arrange pest control, but it was ineffective and 8 weeks on we still Have issues- the pest control guy thought the issue must have been untreated for many many months as the infestation was so bad! I don’t know what kind of checks they do on tenants, or how regularly they inspect their properties, but allowing a lovely new house to become absolutely infested under their management absolutely amazes me. Be very wary if you are considering them as rental agents.

Review re: Sale branch. We've just bought our first house, with GH as the agent. We had to deal with lots of companies and individuals throughout the process - very few were as helpful as the team in the Sale branch. They were really helpful from the first viewing to completion, especially during a period when we were finding it difficult to motivate both sets of solicitors.

I highly recommend the Wilmslow office of Gascoigne Halman and especially James Coppock who went out of his way to help us through the entire process. I could not have asked for a better service.

Used Gascoigne Halman Lettings to manage my property - biggest mistake. Took commission every month but did nothing to earn it. Ignored my emails when I reported concerns following an inspection visit report and allowed tenant to damage property which resulted in problems trying to claim money from deposit and eventually left me considerably out of pocket. Didn't know where one set of keys were when I went to collect them! Didn't have the grace to admit their mistakes and apologize. Would certainly NOT recommend!!

Excellent professional service and communication from going on the market to completion 8 weeks later.

We moved house earlier this year as did our elderly parents and the service we received from Gascoigne Halman in Wilmslow particularly James Coppock was superb. His calm professional manner really helped us through a stressful time and he is excellent at negotiating. Anytime we had to ring the office and ask questions all our calls were returned and Lucy Kershaw was always pleasant and very helpful. Apologies to other GH branches who seemingly operate at a much higher level than the Marple Bridge branch.

Richard and has Marple Bridge team have misled me now on two property purchases in the last decade. The first, 7 years ago, whereby dimensions for a living room were inflated in size, which led to an incorrect sofa being ordered. This incurring significant cost and time losses.

Then most recently, with a property sold (repeatedly mentioned in the listing) as two parking spaces when in fact that is debatable legally speaking. When requesting a call back on the matter, all I've had is a deflected response suggesting that them misselling is fine as the actual truth can be ascertained from the land registry information. That's ok then!...

Strongly advise using Julian Wadden in Marple who were nothing short of brilliant.

A shame that one particular branch's misleading adverts are having a negative impact on the good work being done elsewhere. I had hoped misleading advertising in home sales was now a thing of the past.

We put our house on the market in July 2018 with G&H, Wilmslow. We sold it within 3 weeks to the ideal buyer: a cash buyer living in rented accomodation in the same village. So the house was marked sold and we had no further viewers.
Things then went very slowly; we thought the purchaser's solicitor was awful at his job. However by October we were still no closer to exchanging contracts and finally discovered that our ideal cash buyer in fact DID NOT HAVE THE FUNDS to purchase. So we wasted a perfect summer for selling a house and did not manage to find another buyer (through another Estate Agent) until Jan 2019.
As far as I'm concerned this is entirely G&H's fault; they should have made sure that the cash buyer did indeed have the funds and got written proof. Otherwise what am I paying them for?
My advice to anyone else selling a house is if you are told they are a cash buyer, make absolutely certain that they have the money and get written proof.
