Terrible Refund Policy

I’ve been a regular customer of United Colors of Benetton for some time, but my recent experience has been disappointing enough to reconsider shopping with them again.

I placed an online order (around £70), and unfortunately the item didn’t fit. This was my first return with the brand. I was surprised to find that returns from the UK are not only paid (£6), but also unnecessarily complicated.

The process requires printing multiple documents, including a return label and several copies of a proforma invoice. This feels outdated and inconvenient—especially compared to most retailers offering simple, paperless returns or in-store options.

What’s particularly frustrating is that this is justified by the company as being partly for “environmental” reasons. In reality, the process is very paper-heavy and doesn’t reflect the sustainability claims being made.

I contacted customer service to request a one-time goodwill refund of the £6 fee, given this was my first return as a long-standing customer. The response was polite but completely inflexible, repeating policy rather than addressing the situation.

I understand businesses have policies, but the lack of any discretion or customer consideration is disappointing. For a relatively small amount, this would have been an easy opportunity to retain goodwill.

Overall, not the level of service I expected, and something to be aware of before ordering online.

Terrible Experience....zero customer service

Their returns process is terrible. We returned items which were then returned to us....Benetton blame the shipping agent as it has to be returned to Italy and the paperwork was not correct. This occurred in January and we are still waiting for a replacement returns label. When you call the customer service number they cannot help, let you know who you can talk to complain. The online contacts text box does not accept enough text to seek help. They owe us a refund of £125.85 from 22/11/25 and all they can say is it takes time for the department to get back to us. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE STORE!!!

Lack of transparency on the refund fees and terrible customer service. They charged me 7 euro for a return even if the 7 euro for the transport were discounted because I ordered for more than 100 euro. I returned only 2 items for 26 euro and they kept 7 euro as a return fee even if there was no mention about this fees in the return request. I also asked them via email in advance if a return fee will apply. On they website it is indicated that a return fee of 7 euro may apply (not that they will automatically charge you 7 euro). The customer service is terrible, I sent them evidence with screenshots, emails etc. and they didn't take it into consideration. They continue to say that this is their return policy. Ok, I can understand but be transparent, inform the customers, the website is not clear, the return request even for confusing. I will never order again on this website. Such a pity as I was their customer for many years. They don't know how to keep their loyal customers.

Awful experience, Benetton turned really bad

I ordered 6 items on the Benetton Outlet pages. Delivery was ok, but one item had a flaw and several were made in another country than the one mentioned on the website. The return form on their website didn't work, I had to contact them directly several times. No instructions for the return. And finally when I got the refund, I saw they had charged 5 euros! Awful shop, will never order again.

Avoid ordering from this company at all…

Avoid ordering from this company at all costs! I spent a significant amount on their products, only to face a nightmare when trying to return a single item. Despite carefully following their return instructions, my package was sent back to me, and I was informed by Benetton that I should have followed an entirely different set of instructions—ones they never provided in the first place. Their return process is unnecessarily complicated and feels designed to discourage customers from returning anything.

This experience has been so frustrating that I will never order from Benetton again. Their customer service is appalling, and they make it nearly impossible to resolve issues. If they can’t provide a straightforward returns process, they shouldn’t be selling to UK customers at all.

Now, I’m left with an item that doesn’t fit, and my only option is to sell it on eBay—likely at a fraction of what I paid. At least I can count on a smoother experience there. Save yourself the hassle and steer clear of Benetton!

In data 3 gennaio u.s. ho effettuato un ordine sul sito di Benetton. Il giorno 7 ho ricevuto un messaggio in cui mi veniva comunicata la consegna. Peccato che io non abbia ricevuto il pacco. Telefono al servizio clienti, inviano la segnalazione al corriere di Amazon e a oggi dopo quasi 3 settimane non mi hanno ancora risposto. Pessima esperienza. Sconsigliato.

BEWARE. Benetton ships from Italy and it takes ages!

If I had realised Benetton shipped from Italy I woukd never have ordered from them. They quote 2-5 days delivery 2-5 WEEKS more like. It took them a week to dispatch my jumpers and another week forUPS to deliver them. I have never had a satisfactory experience with UPS either and try to avoid companies who use them

DO NOT BUY! SCAM

Purchasing from this eshop online from EU country, it is far from the experience you would get from their store. In the store, they always try to help you, regardless if it's an Ukrainian lady who doesn't speak the language of the country she is in... But man, the eshop is very bad level. The order took 3 weeks to get any update via email, customer service sucks, there's no phone line, and if you try to call their corporate or other lines in Italy (and you're based in the EU), they will tell you they have nothing to do with the eshop. Also, the physical stores have the same statements and they cannot help you as they're franchizing. It took 4 weeks to have the order arrived finally. There's no delivery option besides one, although in their FAQ they offer multiple options, even express shipping (it's not true). It took 3 weeks to process the order, and no update, so be aware of that. Another point, if you try to type any requests on their website, there's limited characters you can submit, so you can just write up to 2 sentences. Via email, they are not responsive, it takes them 2 weeks-1 month, or never to reply, it depends on their mood, and how they want to their job. It's really lack of customer service, and if you really like their stuff, you should buy it in the store, but otherwise, don't do it, you will save a lot of nerves. It's like one of those DEEP fake eshops, that don't have any customer line, and emails are secondary for them, and they don't care about the customer service. Making a return is also really hard, because they claim you can submit via the order / website, but it does not work, you won't be able to submit unless you email them directly and please them to create the return for you, so many people are left with the unwanted stuff and not making any returns because who has time to do all this work, when it supposed to be a pleasant shopping? They still owe me money and they are terrible at the communication, still no answer after over a month. I will report them to my bank institution. DO NOT BUY!

I purchased a coat online in the middle…

I purchased a coat online in the middle of November 2025. It was unsuitable and I returned it through their UPS service centre a few days later. It took until 9 December to reach Benetton. Their delivery info says 14 working days for a refund. I’m still waiting for my money back after 17 working days and very little help or response from their customer care. It’s appalling service and zero customer care. I wouldn’t buy anything from them again and would not advise anyone to use their online service if you might need to send it back.

Awful Customer Experience

I can only add to all the other poor reviews. The customer experience is truly awful. They shipped a wrong item to me and made me feel like I was to blame and a scammer. Countless photos over a long period of time I had to send and still no effort on Benettons part to resolve it. A real shame for what was a major brand.

This is a scam

This is a scam. First of all I bought the same cardigan (same size) again I had already bought before, but the one I received was too small and had to be returned. We received money from Benetton however they deducted £10, I assume to pay for the return to Italy, I thought items could be returned in the UK. Their website did not provide any clue. This was the last item I will ever buy from this company.

Used to be a good company many years…

Used to be a good company many years ago but now shockingly bad. Takes a month to receive items and over a month to get a refund (if you are lucky but most of the time they don't refund at all). Not received item I ordered 2 weeks ago so now filed a claim with paypal. They have no customer service - no reply to emails and their phone line is never answered. Their website doesn't work so it won't let you request returns - impossible to download return label or click on the link to arrange a collection. I tried ringing them 10 times today and each time I got a recorded message saying their customer service was open and then it disconnected the call. They haven't replied to any of my emails either. So after waiting weeks to receive my order it is now impossible to return it so I have had to file a claim with PayPal to try and get my money back..All their shops have closed and I think their website will probably go bust soon too as it's such an appalling company.. Used to be good many years ago but now it's useless .
