Happy to talk about and review a truly wonderful experience in having our dog, Missy, adopted by a local family, through GetYourPet.com. The service allowed us to place our sweet, loyal, and protective dog, with a family who will love and take care of her in a way that we can no longer because of a changing family situation. I have received wonderful texts and photos from her adoptive family, showing Missy in her new home, and I’m relieved knowing that we made the right decision. I highly recommend GetYourPet.com; their website provides information about the current and prospective pet adopters, guidelines about, questions to ask, and steps to take to meet up to ensure that there is a good exchange of information among both parties. While parting with my beloved dog wasn’t easy, I’m comforted knowing that she has a new forever home with people who will love her as much as I do.

We completed a two week adoption process on March 8. It was easy, efficient and successful service. It was an alternative rescue service to shelter rescue. Mac is a wonderful doggie who has been well loved and pretty well trained. The communication with the present owner of the dog is very important and this format allows that. Along with vet records etc. The adoption was smooth for Mac and us. The key is that we were well informed about this dog. He is so good!

It was an easy site to set up a profile for Cairo and immediately after I set up his profile I started getting likes, I started getting emails and I started getting notifications and saves on his profile. I met a wonderful lady named Carol who wanted to meet Cairo and I and upon our meeting it was determined that Carol, her daughter and Charlie (which was her dog) would be a great fit for Cairo. I always wanted him to go somewhere where I knew he would be taking care of, loved and spoiled as much as I did if not more. My story is a good one because the pet owner of my Baloo was a beautiful soul. She rescued him from a crated life in a basement. I knew it was not going to be an easy road ahead because he is not socially trained and HUGE.

This is not a place for inexperienced adopters.

Experience with Baloo: playful behavior from overstimulation causing accidental bites that bleed, scratches That bleed and bruises all over my body.

This Beautiful, BIG and STRONG boy has been through a lot and I feel he is all worth The pain. Baloo did not know what bones or toys were, he was abused but not ruined. He didn’t even know what snacks he liked. He does know some commands, he doesn’t bark, he is house trained, wants to be loved and to make me proud. He is eager to learn and please too. I enrolled him in training classes at PetCo. Great classes but because he has no paper or record history of what he’s been through, every day he gets more comfy he reveals his strengths and challenges.

He gives kisses and hugs all day and he looks for encouragement. Baloo found his forever home with me. I never thought I’d get an American Staffordshire Terrier but I saw him and I knew I’m the patient mom he needs. I just wish I’d have a support system in here with more direction, given his background.

I look forward to helping Baloo feel self assured, safe, and worthy of love with the help of the new support team I’ve built with Petco and friends.

This was a great way to adopt a pet. You can look at the pictures & descriptions & you can ask questions of the pet owners. You get more complete information than if you were to adopt from a shelter. Plus, the shelter experience can traumatize an animal so if you adopt from this website you prevent the animal from having to go to a shelter. You can meet the animal & the owner & go home & think about it. If you already have a dog, it gives you the opportunity that the animals can meet & spend a little time together to see if they are compatible. You also make the previous owner happy because they know what happened to the pet they have to give up so they don't have to worry.

Hi my name is Toshia Chappell and I was curious as to if there was a way to leave a review on the website. A few months ago we went through Get Your Pet to adopt our current pup and couldn't have been happier with the website and everything about it! It made it super easy to look up current pets, where they are located and how to contact the person listing the pet! I love the idea behind this site to allow the pets an easy transformation from one home to the next without being placed in a shelter where there is multiple risks of getting sick, getting stuck there for long amounts of time or on unfortunate events possible euthanasia.
I went looking on this site hopeful to find a golden retriever to 'rescue' and luckly this handsome 3yr old Golden Retriever popped up and through multiple chats back and forth between me and the previous owner, we decided to meet up. Everything went really smoothly and he took to us well and we came home with him that day! I was very happy to not only have the opportunity to give this dog a new loving home, but I was more than grateful that it was done in such a way that he could transition nicely!
I always recommend this site for people I know looking for new pets because we had such a good experience and I want others to know of success stories hopeful that they will have the same outcome! When it comes time for me to look for another dog, I most certainly will be taking a look on this website.

This was an easy, quick and safe process to help rehome my beloved Gunner.

I have offered to adopt a dog that I want to give a great home to. I want the current owner to know as much as possible about what I can offer so he can make an informed decision. Nope. Can't share info unless we meet. You can only send a message with very limited characters. Really? You want me to drive three hours just to ask some questions and share what I can offer a pet. I'm not allowed to give a # to send txt messages to? So much info should be considered way before you meet to help make a proper decision, but you only allow a meeting? A few text messages would be a great help, but you aren't allowing that? I have to drive 3 hours instead? Yeah, that's really stupid on your part! Concept is good, but you sure screwed up on the details

I liked this rescue site in the fact that I could see activity when someone had viewed my dogs profile. I was not impressed with the fact that all of my correspondents with interested parties was through emails through the site. There were so many things I would have liked to have discussed with a future adopter that needed to be asked or said in a phone conversation. And yet your site does not allow for us to exchange numbers. Texts or emails can not always come across well. That's my only problem with this rescue. My Cooper is now in his forever home with a wonderful family that sends me pictures continually. 💕

Anything that I needed or any questions that I had, like putting my pet's profile on the page, letting me know what to add to my pet's page to get my pet adopted, how to respond when people would view my pet's profile.
