The process of obtaining a quotation and insuring my narrowboat could not have been quicker or simpler.

Originally i had a multi boat policy for three boats with one payment. Now it is reverted to 3 separate polocies which required three separate logins and paymeny. So inefficient!

Paid for brake pads , didn't receive them, called them said they would get back to me and guess what ,THEY DIDNT.

Read the small print for dinghy insurance! Not an easy renewal process and had to telephone the call centre, after emails failed to get a response. I got my answer but after 25 days sold the Optimist to upgrade and found i'd receive none of my premium back, due to admin fees and being outside of the 14 days cooling off. This doesn't feel like a company that wants to help and i wouldn't recommend them to anyone else. I will not renew our other boat, or indeed insure any future boats with this company.

The security procedures are not user friendly, are fiddly and excessive. Clearly designed by a banking professional. Not sure why it is needed for a simple small boat insurance renewal!

Great and easy to use

Terrible change since last year after takeover by Ripe insurance now underwritten by Munich Re.
I insure my boat - a 20 foot lifting keel sailing boat Hawk20. I wanted to add on a Tehri 385 tender but. They said no it had to be a separate policy as I might use the boat to get to the beach on the other side of the harbour and not visit the main boat so that renders it “not a tender”

On to the new policy then - “is the tender kept inside a secure locked building?” - well of course not; it is in a sailing club boat park chained up and padlocked but next to a National Trust coast path., “oh that means we can’t insure it” Given there are at least 100 similar tenders in the same boat park many tied on (if at all) with rope or bungees not chain and padlock as mine is it seemed an incredible restriction for a “specialist marine insurer”
“What power is the outboard?” Well a better powered Torqeedo max equivalent 5hp maybe. “ Do you drive it for waterski-ing?” Really? Are you serious? I could not believe the call handler. Kevin. He eventually said he would speak to an underwriter and call me back. He did not so five hours later I called him - “ oh the underwriter will make a specific extraordinary variation and allow the policy subject to you keeping the boat chained and padlocked (as it already is). I even had to ask him to Google Earth view my sailing club boat park to verify the site. Eventually they did agree to issue a policy but it felt like getting blood out of stone. It really should not be that difficult. No wonder these jobs are at risk from A.I. Well done Kevin for finally seeing some common sense.
