Getting ‘GOT’ by Georgia Natural Gas — They really know how to "gas‑light" your wallet.

While many natural gas companies in Georgia have their issues, Georgia Natural Gas stands out as the most unprofessional in my experience. They engage in questionable billing practices, price gouging, and consistently poor customer service. The customer service representatives are rude and condescending. The bills are unclear and they act like they are doing YOU a favor for providing a service. (PSC) What is going on? If Georgia regulates other utility companies, natural gas companies should be no exception. Contact your state representatives and demand stronger oversight!

Agree with other reviews. My plan expired, I got one email, and when I tried to renew online it kept failing with a 401 error. With a newborn and international travel I couldn’t call in time, and my bill jumped to 4×. I called to switch plans, but the next month was also 4×. When I called again, they said that because I renewed mid-cycle, the new contract doesn’t take effect for 1–2 billing cycles. This was never mentioned in the email confirmation or during the call. I ended up paying a huge amount for two months. They also never disclosed this delay before signing the new contract, and now I’m stuck in a 24-month plan.

More than tripled my costs unexpectedly--do not trust

They switched my plan and I ended up with a bill more than triple the cost of the previous month. When I called, they claimed to have sent me email notifications and gave me dates when they were sent, but unfortunately for them I keep records of all my emails and was able to confirm that I never received said notifications. They insisted they sent the emails, so I suppose it's possible they went to spam, but frankly no one should be in a position to suddenly discover a bill more than 3x the previous one with no recourse to change retroactively. I will be changing my provider.

Can't Handle a Connection Appointment

If you're wondering how a company can screw up a simple gas connect, here is how. First, they booked me an 8 hour connection window. Then they switched my window without telling me. I've used them before and didn't really have anything good or bad to say until now (except that they're not always the cheapest. )

Horrible company

Horrible company. triples your bill without notification and shuts off service the friday before an expected storm is to arrive. Stay far far away fromm this company. Georgia is a deregulated state for natural gas, and you do have the option to choose your gas provider.

AVOID THIS BUSINESS LIKE THE PLAGUE! Read the other reviews and maybe you will find a more honorable business to deal with in your area.
Atlanta Gas Light left on the gas at a residence I bought in Macon, GA, as a complimentary service, which was explained to me in a letter that listed other service providers to choose from in that area, so I regretfully chose Georgia Natural Gas (GNG).
I had not lived in the house or used the service, other than for the pilot light in my hot water heater, of which I turned off for two weeks of the billing cycle because I used bug bombs in the house, and did not feel the need to turn the gas back on; however, the heating system also uses gas. But I had not used it, other than for approximately 15-minutes to make sure it worked after a contractor provided a service, as I kept the heat and AC turned off, since I wasn't staying there.
GNG charged me $106.47 for the first month. I signed up for paperless billing, so no bill was sent to my house. Via email to Customer Service department, I made multiple requests for an itemized bill that I still have not gotten to this day, several weeks later.
I spoke with someone at GNG who said $60 of the bill was for a connection fee (as I stated, the Atlanta Gas Light Company left the gas connected).
I've repeatedly requested an itemized deduction that shows what I am being billed for: On 12/05/2023, I spoke with someone who said that it had been mailed to me. I reminded her that I signed up for "paperless billing," after she asked if I checked my mail, which I had done (no billing statement ever arrived at the house or otherwise).
Then I reminded her of my repeated requests for the information in these emails that I know are received because my system notifies me if an email is not delivered. But, to date, I still have not received the requested documentation.
THEN after she verbally explained the charges, I informed her that when cancelling the service, the person said he would deduct $50 from the $100 fee.
According to her, GNG decided NOT to honor what he said, which only adds fuel to my claim that GEORGIA NATURAL GAS in NOT an honorable business to deal with, and gives me more ammunition to use against them when challenging their scandalous business practices.
