Had given a fantastic review, changed
Had given a fantastic review, but I just got Permission to operate after almost 15 months. This only after the bank that financed took over project. Paying for both the solar panels and electric is really difficult on Social Security!!!
The positive reviews are fake
The positive reviews are fake. Reread them and you can tell. They are lying about the BBB rating. They only care about their bottom line and ignore you once they install the solar. They push for bad panels just to be able to sell them faster. Absolutely horrible company! Very unethical and unprofessional they lie about everything. Pay attention to the one sided horrible contract! Do not sign it! They should be ashamed of their business methods.
Lack of communication
Ordered an expensive upgraded part to our solar system since their monitoring became obsolete less than 2 years after purchasing a 50k solar system. Another $1200 to allow us see how our system is performing. Purchased in January to receive in the mail in 10 days. Questioned the company a month later and received no response. Reached out 2 weeks later threatening to reverse charges before I received a response that the product was back ordered. Almost 3 months later and product or services have not been rendered. Would not recommend.
This far my experience has been A1! I'm excited for this opportunity to be apart of something so cool!
Thus far my experience has been a1

What I wish I knew before hand and you should know
What I wish I knew before hand and you should know
Read the 1-star ratings in reviews, as they often will tell you a lot about whoever you’re looking at.
Green Home Systems Inc is not BBB accredited and F rated even though at the time GHS claimed 5 stars and accredited
GHS site says 5 star Trustpilot but it is 3.6 and sinking. If you look top of this Trustpilot page on GHS says
“We’ve found out that this company has been displaying Trustpilot content incorrectly.
This includes displaying the Trustpilot brand in a misleading way: like our name or logo, TrustScore, star rating, widgets, reviews, and other brand content.
We take the integrity of our platform very seriously. When we uncover misuse, we take action and alert our community.”
Before signing a contract , print it off and let a lawyer read it, will be worth the money, I regret I didn’t do it till after signed.
Do not leave anything laying around where it might be stolen. With most all subcontractors this is not an issue As of 3/16/2024 still waiting on a check for tools stolen, and gas line inspection
lose wires in breaker box I had to tighten and reinsert into breakers after they left. Lucky no fires
Look up solar help sites like Solar Review, Solar Neighbors United, and anyone else you can. In my state Illinois Solar Education Project
April 2023, was when they offered to place on ground.
As of 3/21/2024, not totally done. Was told getting consumption meter installed
Finally got consumption meter delivered on March 29th still not installed and still no reimbursement for stolen tools
June 3, 2024 consumption meter. Now 11/09/2025 still not installed,
They agreed to pay for stolen items. As of 11/09/2025 still no money. So many things like others have said here that never came to fruition.
F rating & not accredited with BBB and not 5 star as they claim with Trustpilot, only 3.6
Trustpilot also say
“We’ve found out that this company has been displaying Trustpilot content incorrectly”
Now 11/09/2025 still unfinished, Carbon Solution Group just sent out a real contractor to inspect and approve my system for rest of Illinois Shines rebate. Seems the people who installed it (and cut through gas line and stole tools ) wasn't licensed to do it so and licensed inspector had to come out.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. This company is based in California but sells project throughout the United States. Once the project has been sold to the customer, they source a local contractor nearest to the customer to complete the installation. At first they are knowledgeable, accessible and responsive, but once the project is paid for by the customer and/or the customer's funding source, they will ghost all other parties involved and DO NOT pay the subcontractor for the work that they completed. We are a subcontractor that worked for them for about 8 months in Northern Illinois and are owed several thousand dollars for projects completed months ago. Their solution to the problem "do more jobs for us and we will use that funding to pay you for what we owe you" HUGE RED FLAG. Every person that we had an established working relationship with is no longer with the company because they were all let go and replaced with project managers that DO NOT know what they are doing. Do not believe anything they tell you in the sales pitch, so that you can avoid getting taken by this company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Any bad reviews on this company are probably the most accurate, believe them.

They walk you through each step in the process to keep you up to date from contract signing to permission to operate.
Warm at last
The whole process from start to finish has gone smoothly and all the team were very helpful and very efficient. Initial stages were led by Kenny Scott who did a great job of getting things in place for the project and available for help along the way. Also David Mcfarlane who was there every step of the way for help and advise.
I’m very happy with solar/airsourced system I received and I also had the house loft insulated also. I would highly recommend the whole team including all the plumbers, fitters, solar etc as they all worked really hard and did a great job

Solar is the way to go!
We are enjoying our solar system. Our power bill is about $11 a month. We love the app that tracks what we produce & what we use each day. Go solar with Green Home Systems!
The good, bad, and the ugly
Entirety of my solar purchasing experience had its ups and downs, but all in all, it remained positive.
Contacts that would reach out to me on occasion, or whom I could contact with inquiries seemed to change quite often. Not sure on the details, but it did appear as if there was a higher turnover with their employees. I remember someone named Angel early on, and a Michael, maybe a Michelle in there, but those were the only ones that seemed to stick around long enough that I can name. All in all, they did great up to the point of after the install, then communicating did drop off, albeit not entirely.
I remember signing an awful lot of e-signatures, many of which were redundant in my opinion, but there was always progress forward.
If I had a complaint or two for real, the first would be whatever contractor they hired to actually install the system. I understand it’s bidding process, and no affiliations may be in order, but being in the trades and associated with the process myself, I am a firm believer that the cheapest option is not always the way to go. I cannot name the company off-hand, but I do remember them being based in the Champaign, IL area. Although the system is installed and operational, I am less than happy with the cleanliness and quality of the install. Very little forethought and prep was put into the install, just an email or two with satellite view images. Panels mounted on ground due to no south facing roofline, but no ground prep was completed, just plop, right there with the basic angled brackets/mounts on top of the healthy grass with a single layer of landscape paper to “prevent” growth. The ground and panels aren’t even somewhat level. The inverter was mounted to the south side of my garage after some heated debate, because it was “too hard” or “too far away” for them to mount anywhere else that I suggested, and they wanted to get the job completed asap. They trenched from the panels to my garage without so much as checking to make sure anything was going to be hit in the process, then due to their time crunch (I’m assuming), actually offered me a small amount of cash back so they wouldn’t have to back-fill the trench they made. I live far from most things, so not that big a deal really, but that just screams shoddy workmanship to me. They arrived in a Tesla and a small work vehicle, but the Tesla was plugged in to my garage outlet because he didn’t plan ahead, and realized after the fact he wouldn’t have enough power to make it anywhere. Not that it cost me much, but no severance was offered for that little deal. Lastly, pvc conduit is acceptable to me, but at least take the time to measure and cut, not just bend and flex the longer pieces because your cut was too short and you’re too lazy or cheap to cut another piece. Those “glued” joints are no longer joints fyi. As I stated previously though, my displeasure was with the actual contractor.
One or two other displeasures involved the SRECs and the actual sizing of the system. I originally was planning on installing an approximate 14kw system, but had to downsize to a 10kw (9.9kw) due to some apparent limitation that stated anything over that size qualified as a power generating facility and would need regular inspections from the power company…which cost more money than what I would be saving from the extra 4kw. Panels all came on a semi, which couldn’t reach my property because it got stuck, and I had to drive my truck with my largest trailer to transfer everything over from his location. Once again, poor planning. The SRECs situation may not be their fault either, but know that I was told originally that I would receive approximately 6k to 7k more than I actually did when I finally received a check…years after the install. After many phone calls (to a carbon management solutions group), I found I was apparently bumped from higher tier lists (higher tier equals higher SREC worth) because they were full up, and funding was dropping. Nothing I could do except wait as I was dropped from A to B To C, then finally D, which I believe was the one I finally was paid out on. Note that this has nothing to do with the company I purchased the panels from, but I thought it worth mentioning here for those that might be going interested.
After all that criticism, I must say, the system does work, and the app I have to monitor everything is user friendly, informative, and has nice features. The panels seem to be high enough quality and are quite durable. Haven’t had a single issue other than weeds and pvc conduit coming apart. The company, although different contacts, still reaches out from time to time to check on me, which I find comforting. All in all, pleased with their actual end of things.

Loved the company had a great time working with my agent we texted almost every day about what was going on. Took many phone calls with questions and dealing with my small town dealing with permits and being the first one in my town to get panels. Great experience
When I had my solar system installed
When I had my solar system installed, I interviewed a lot of companies that were installing solar systems to get estimates and the no pressure sales that some promised was not so , now Iean Pasternak from Green Solar did not pressure me in to buying there system like the others he gave me time to think about it let me get other quotes compare systems etc. I called him back and started the process. Now the reason I went with them is the panels, inventors the tie in to the grid were not the top rated but they were close. I did a lot of research before contacting solar installers, and they wanted to install subpar systems for the same amount of money. Now, my system was not cheap by any means, but it was also a big house. The only issues I had with the installation and the project being completed was the on site manager that quit or was relocated so there was a little delay in completing the install and next was the ok to flip the switch (on system) for grid tie in because the company that handles that for the power company in illinois never called us, but I contacted Iean and he made some calls and a week later we got the go ahead to turn the system on from the power company grid tie in group that is not even in this state. My overall experience was awesome. Yes, there were bumps in the road, but we worked through it, and the system did what it was designed for taking a $300/month electric bill to a $14 which has stayed the same since it was installed.... Thank you, Iean Pasternak and Green Solar

Stay away from GHS
I signed up with GHS in March of 2023 for a roof replacement and solar. The communication with GHS is terrible they do not want anything in writing, I will send them email's and will get a phone call back days or weeks later.
The roofing project was a total debacle. I have a 2000 sqft house and the roof took 25 days to tear-off and install. I told GHS during the contract signing I wanted a licensed roofer, no problem they told me we only use licened professionals. I signed the contract on March 15th and was told I would have the solar turnd on by July. The roof installation started June 5th and ended on July 10th 2023.
In the months leading upto the roofing project started I asked to see the roofers license, GHS told me they will get it to me. During the 25 days of roofing I asked almost daily for the license, silence for days from GHS and when they did responsed, I was told they will get it to me. The demo of the roof was taking so long (10 days) and performed so unprofessionaly that I asked for a different roofer before the demo was completed, GHS told me no. When the roof was finally finished I performed a quick walk through of the roof and found many exposed nails. I called and emailed GHS about the nails, no reply for weeks. With the first rain the roof leaked is 3 locations. GHS finally returned my email's once I sent in pictures of the leaks. I was still asking for the roofers license GHS finally admitted, Louis the roofer does not have a license. GHS offered to send out a licensed roofer to inspect the roof, 5 minutes of looking at the roof he told me the roof was installed so poorly the entire roof will need to be replaced. GHS told me they will replace the roof however, I have been waiting over 2 months nothing has happened.
I am done with GHS, I asked for the contract to be canceled, they agreed. Three weeks later and I still do not have a signed release for the contract.
GHS has a revolving door with employees, during the roofing project I had 3 different Project Managers over the 8 months with GHS I have had a total of 5 Project Managers.
GHS is very sloppy with the paperwork. The permit they pulled with the city for the roof does not have the correct roofer listed. GHS did not follow-up with the city for the inspection of the roof, no inspection was performed.
Edison has sent me 6 non-conforming notices for the solar requiring amendments to the solar array.
I am extremely unhappy with GHS because this project has gone on for so long that I will need to find a new solar installer and I will most likely lose the NEM2 status.
Almost 8 months with this incompetent company and I am left with a leaking roof and no solar.
Do not use GHS!!! Worst home improvement project ever.

I had a great experience with Green Home Systems. Their team, including the project manager, sales manager, and installation team, provided timely updates and excellent service. The installation team installed the solar panels with care and effectiveness. I highly recommend Green Home Systems for their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Bad Company to do Business With!!!
Bad Company to do Business With!!!
Green Home Systems, formerly known as Green Home Technologies, established communication with our company a few years back regarding the prospect of installing their solar systems on Green Home's customers' properties through a mutually beneficial contract. Green Home relies on local contractors for the installation of their solar systems because they don't have a contractor's license in the state where the client resides. Nor do they have any relationship with the utility companies and the electrical inspectors. In the beginning, everything was working out. Jobs were coming in and completed by my company, Invoices were paid on time. But as we progressed up until now, Green Home has delayed payment, more often than not, for my services which caused me to break our contract agreement. Our contract stated 30 days net, NOT 90 or 120 days past due !! I have contacted Green Home several times about the PAST DUE invoices with them telling me several lies and eventually no response at all. I currently have several invoices that I will have to just write off. I have placed Mechanics Liens on the customer's properties because of the past due invoices and I'm in the process of filing suit against Green Home for collections of the past and present unpaid invoices as well as a Breach of Contract. If Green Home will just pay me the amount owed, I will release the liens against the homeowner's property, and this will all go away. Just a heads up regarding anyone planning to do business with this company!!! I've done a little research on this company (too late) and found that I'm not the only subcontractor that Green Home has not paid for the services provided. There are a LOT of contractors from various states that have not been paid for the installation of Green Home System's solar equipment. I wish that I had investigated this unethical and corrupt company before I decided to subcontract for them.
Subcontractor Beware, unless you don't mind paying your crew and not being reimbursed for the money you shelled out !!!
Check for yourself their reviews on the many websites available.
Buyer Beware, unless you can afford to have a lien placed on your property by the unpaid subcontractor !!
I still get calls from Green Home's clients for service repairs because Green Home will not respond to their client's needs or will not answer the phone at all. For some of them, I went ahead and performed the repair at no cost. I really empathize with these clients of Green Home Systems. One elderly woman was left in the dark and had to use a generator due to equipment malfunction. She tried to call Green Home several times, and on numerous days before calling me.
Save yourself a headache and go with a local solar company in your area!!
A note to Green Home Systems...
It is recommended that Green Home Systems improve its business ethics in regard to its treatment of its customers and subcontractors. This would demonstrate a commitment to fairness and ethical standards that are essential in the business world. By doing so, Green Home can establish a reputation for being a trustworthy and reliable business partner, which can ultimately lead to increased customer loyalty and profitability. It is essential for all businesses to prioritize ethical behavior and to hold themselves accountable for any shortcomings in this area, in order to maintain a positive reputation and build strong relationships with customers. Word of mouth is your best advertisement !!!! Why would you want to destroy that ??

Steve, we are looking into your issue and will expedite payment on your repair calls. I apologize for the delay.
Here it is May 30th, 2024 and I am still waiting on my overdue payments. I have called, texted, and emailed this company on several occasions and they continue to ghost me.
The liens on these customers properties of Green Home will continue to exist until ALL invoices are paid in full.
