Over 2 months ago my daughter placed and paid for an order with online store with her Greenlight card. As of the date of this review, the order has not shipped, and no tracking information has been provided.

Attempts to contact the merchant have been unsuccessful. The telephone number printed on the receipt is disconnected, all associated social media accounts are closed, and no email address is provided for customer service. These facts indicate the merchant is no longer conducting business.

I submitted a dispute with Greenlight on the basis of non-delivery of goods. Over two months have now passed with no shipment, no communication, and no resolution from the merchant. Greenlight still has not refunded the purchase. This experience has severely undermined my trust in Greenlight’s services and I will be cancelling our subscription once this matter is settled!

Do not trust your purchases with the Greenlight card - they do not protect their customers from fraudulent merchants or non-delivery of goods!

Never received card. Contacted the company and a replacement card was promised. Waited a week and the card still never arrived. Contacted greenlight for a refund and they asked me to wait another 10 days. I had to promise legal action and to contact the Better Business Bureau before they agreed to process a full refund. It should have never come to this. It's bad business.

My daughters account was hacked into 24 times in the last 2 months.
2 different debit cards were used for fraudulent charges - which they can clearly see in her account. I alerted them to fraud 2 months ago and nothing has been done to secure her account OR identity!

Contacting customer service is a joke - they blame your kid "It must be where she is shopping online" or "contact the merchant"!

NO, its Greenlight that was hacked 24 times, this has nothing to do with the merchant. All they have to do is look at the 24 attempted transactions across 2 debit cards and they can see the fraud for themselves.

Even though Mastercard provides " Zero Liability Protection" on these debit cards - they make you file out a claim form and say that you have to wait 90 days for it to be resolved. There is ZERO REASON any customer should have to wait 90 days if Greenlight was a legit company. Mastercard has the policy so why won't Greenlight abide by it? Super shady.

After 24 attempts, someone stole $100 right out of my childs pocket and they refuse to help OR answer me on how they plan to secure her account & identity. HORRIBLE.

Our kids and I have found Greenlight to be simple and fast to use. My son took his Greenlight card on a field trip to another state. I loved being able to monitor his spending. I noticed he was very careful not to exceed his balance!

Terrible experience. I got this card for my son who has disabilities so that he always had available money for gas. He was never able to use the card as it was declined every time he attempted to use it. When I complained and closed the card, I was told their fees were not refundable, even though the card was useless. I was also told that I could add money and put "on hold" since when a gas station get's "pre-authorization", it may be refused if the balance is small. Total waste of money. I need to find a more reliable card. Shell was great, but is no longer available.

I just spent over 1.5 hours trying to deposit money in my grandaughter’s greenlight.com account, using the link furnished by my daughter for this purpose. I repeatedly entered the correct CC information, and waited for the verification code. After entering the code, I was informed that the payment was not processed, check the code or use a different payment type. I checked the information each time, and it had been entered correctly. I called the bank that issued the card and spent tow lengthy phone calls with their service department. They said that they had not received the transaction requests. I gave up, and tried to use a different payment card with a different bank. I had the same result. Greenlight’s “stuff” is very flaky. I will not be using them again.

Update, August 22, 2025. I changed my previous "1 Star" to 4 Stars. The probems I had depositing money into my grandaughter's account seems to have been caused by my using a VPN connection. I later disabled the VPN and was then able to easily make the deposit. My review would have been for 5 Stars if Greenlight had had some kind of "help" available to assist me.

The ability to turn on and off

Take the negative reviews of Greenlight seriously. The app is not stable and it’s difficult to get customer service. It doesn’t play well with some payment apps.

If I could give no stars I would. Worst stupid app ever. Took money from me. Won't refund. An u have to go thru soooo much to prove it's u. It didn't ask all that to even make the damn account. I am Soo pissed. I just want my stupid refund an delete this stupid account

The app was hard for me to navigate

Beware of Greenlight. They say that you'll get a months free trial but it's false advertisement. They will start deducting fees 7 days after opening an account. Opened my account on the 18 of July. Charged the account fee on the 28th of July.

Great services nice stepping stone to help children learn financial responsibility

It has made me much more aware of his chores snd I have seen my 11 yo mature and want to earn!

When I enrolled, they placed our family in the highest tier and started charging us. I turned on all my notifications but was never notified when a monthly subscription fee was being deducted. So it drained my kids account over several months. This is disturbingly sneaky and underhanded. Too bad. The app seems like a great idea but it was spoiled by a long conversation on the phone with inaccurate information and no resolution.

Customer service is always a 10/10. Prompt with response time and readily available to offer a solution and/or resolution that makes sense. The app is easy to navigate as parents and for kids. Highly recommend

Crazy expensive monthly fee for a youth credit card!
