Price Gouging. No interest in Customer Satisfaction
My student daughter viewed a car last Saturday, price was £10,900, that night she made an offer and it was stated that they do not accept offers. On Sunday the price went up to £11,000. On Bank Holiday Monday she rang to pay the deposit, the phones had not been switched over and got through to a member of staff who said he was 30 miles from the office and could not take a deposit. No where on the website could we see that they were closing early, On Tuesday the price went up to £11,100, she put down a deposit.
Today we meet Stan who was really good and tried his best. The car was good and the staff were very helpful. But the manager refused to give the £11,000 price as he stated the office was shut. My daughter is on minimum wage and was using the funds left by her grandmother.
In summary great car, great service, nice welcome but all marred by the price gauging that has taken place.
The dynamic pricing only means your margin in greater. You have purchased the car already, so this increase just means your profit is £200 greater.
Your sales manager protects his Commision over the satisfaction of your customer. He did not even speak with me.
You say customer satisfaction is important, but you obviously don’t care as you are not prepared to do anything about this. I will contact your CEO directly and discuss this matter further. Please provide his email address

We’re sorry, however, that the pricing changes and communication around the Bank Holiday opening hours left you feeling disappointed. Vehicle prices can change in line with our dynamic pricing process, which reflects market conditions and vehicle demand, but we do understand your frustration given the timing and circumstances you have described.
We also appreciate your comments regarding the communication from management and are sorry you felt your concerns were not addressed directly on the day. Customer experience is extremely important to us, and feedback like this helps us review how we communicate during the sales process.
Sold my car to Hammonds via Motorway
Sold my car to Hammonds via Motorway. They wanted an AA inspection which was fine but I never got to see the report. I was told that there were some deep cuts in the tyres which would not pass an MOT therefore Hammonds reduced their offer by £300 for two new tyres, which I accepted.
The car had a short MOT when I sold it and Hammonds didn't test it before selling on. The Gov mot checker showed it passed a few weeks later but had advisory for cuts in tyres. So Hammonds were wrong in that the tyres would pass an MOT and were not concerned enough to fit new tyres before selling on.

The reduction was based on the information provided to us at the time following the inspection. Purchase of MG3
The salesperson, Ethan, was extremely polite and helpful and kept in contact with me throughout the purchase of the vehicle. He was also helpful in the purchasing operation. My experience was a very pleasant one. I was extremely pleased with my car which was clean both inside and out. I would recommend Hammond Cars.

Was interested in a car they were…
Was interested in a car they were selling.Offered them a very near offer but they refused.Over the time while still shopping for a car I again tried to call them and see if they would accept my offer.If they did then I would have made approximately 2 hours journey to possibly buy the car. I have noticed the car for at least two weeks and is still there while writing this review! Looks like they are not interested even the car has been sitting there for days! Any way after reading some negative reviews about their service here I am glad have not bought that car!I am not trying to blame any car dealers for refusing offers!It is solely upto them.Many genuine potential buyers would try for discounts even for new cars and even many dealers would give discounts!

First experience at buying from Hammond Cars. A good selection of cars and a great company to deal with.
They were honest with our existing car trade in price and supported us in trying other options. Which exceeded our expectations.
Antonia and Jayden assisted us with our purchase and they were both very helpful and knowledgeable about their processes and the vehicles they stock.
The car is perfect, sailed through its MOT and has been an absolute dream.
If my husband can prise this car off of me then we will be back again for our next purchase.

I purchased a Skoda Octavia from Hammond a month or so ago. I was attracted to the company for its reputation for reliability and trustworthiness. I haven't been disappointed! Communication before the purchase was excellent. I was pleased with the price of the car and the rep who served me was very helpful. No issues at all with the car- everything as described and I'm really enjoying my new motor!

I can say with confidence my experience working at Hammond Cars will be one to remember for all the wrong reasons.
The cars have too many issues to list with some not being able to be started or moved, and the treatment by some of the individuals is atrocious.
Particularly Peter Trigg Dudley who genuinely has amazed me as to how incapable and disrespectful someone can be towards his staff. His behaviour was highly unprofessional along with all the scrutinising, belittling and making you feel worthless and you need hand-holding to do your job. I would never dream of buying a car from here.
The management is appalling.

We believe it’s important to clarify that you were employed in the role of a Valeter, where vehicle cleaning is a core and essential responsibility. During discussions, you advised that you were not willing to carry out vehicle cleaning on a daily basis, which is fundamental to the position.
We made efforts to address your concerns and discuss expectations with you directly. However, it became clear that there was a mismatch between the requirements of the role and your expectations, alongside a breakdown in the working relationship. Following careful consideration, a decision was made to bring your employment to an end in line with company procedures.
We do not recognise the characterisation of our management team as described. We are committed to maintaining a professional and respectful workplace, and any concerns of this nature are taken seriously.
As this is a public platform, it would not be appropriate to go into further detail, but we wish you the best moving forward.
Don't judge people
The only thing that spoilt my experience was I wasn't allowed finance, I am a pensioner, I don't do direct debets, so my credit score isn't good, I don't trust banks with my money, but that doesn't mean I can't pay!! You shouldn't judge people,

Car sales as it should be.
I have used Hammonds before and I received such good service that when I was ready for a new to me car and saw that Hammonds had just what I wanted I did not hesitate to visit them again. Ollie the salesman who greeted me made me a tea and explained the process was friendly, efficient and explained everything to my satisfaction. I was offered a test drive but it is manic around the Longwater business park so I declined but sat in and started the car up.
The car was ready for me the same day but I visited the following day to collect. The price was very reasonable, there was enough fuel in it to get home unlike many car dealers. There were no hidden charges or admin fee so the screen price was exactly what you pay. I will certainly return when or if I am ready for another car. Great service from start to finish and it was all done in a relaxed atmosphere no pushy salespeople. Highly recommended.

Do not sell them your car
Absolutely awful experience with these charlatans after selling them a 3 year old Ford Puma via Motorway.co.uk. At auction we received a bit less than we were wanting, but it was fine, we accepted and were completely honest with any cosmetic issues. They arranged the AA to inspect the car, no issues, pointed out the front tyres would need replacing before its MOT in 4/5 months time, but that shouldn't be a shock to them due to the photos I had provided, mileage and age of the car. Other than that it was "immaculate". This inspection was done on a Friday afternoon, the following Tues we get confirmation of the car being collected the next day (Wednesday) 2 hours!!!!! before the collection driver was due to arrive, Hammond Motors phoned - apparently they've just got round to reading the report from the AA (how convenient), they needed to revise the offer and drop it by £190 to cover the tyres, that were still legal. Now backed into a corner, another finance payment due in less than a week we really had no choice but to accept. So if you buy a blue 23 plate Ford Puma ST Line X, make sure it's got a new pair of Continentals on them and if your car is bought by them via motorway/Carwow....cancel the sale. It's not worth the stress.
