Sad to say but a very disappointing…

Sad to say but a very disappointing experience. Appointed these guys to help with one of our businesses. Initially full of enthusiasm and confidence of a big result. However they won't take a case on without you paying a fee upfront and from there on in service has been terrible. Lack of communication, you have to chase them (or at least we did). High staff turnover means lack of continuity and having to go over old ground. End result for us is that we have ended up financially worse off than if we had never bothered and all they do is refer to their T's & C's completely ignoring conversations and emails which clearly state our situation was going to result in a successful outcome. They have no interest in resolving the issue just referring back to the contract. My advice would be to steer clear and look elsewhere.

Very poor advice

In June 2020 we had a visit from a commercial assessor from Hampton Lovett who advised us that we were paying too much in rates. We paid HL £1300.00 (ex vat) for the initial assessment in July 2020. Over 1 year later we have been informed that although the Valuation Office Agency issued a form VO7045A the Valuation Officer is not prepared to continue with the negotiation of a revised Rateable Value and we will be issued with a withdrawal form. This has taken HL over 1 year to process and the appeal has gone against us. We trusted that they had given us good advice and based on previous experience. We will not be utilising HL in the future, disgraceful representation!!!

Endless stream of spam

Endless stream of spam, from a different email domain and a different employee (presumably fictional) each time. One claimed that they'd looked at my company and could definitely get my business rates bill reduced, so out of curiosity I replied asking for more detail. (My current business rates bill is zero. but I didn't tell them that.) No reply from them, but a week later I got another email from them reminding me that *I* hadn't replied to *their* first message. Not only spammers, but incompetent spammers. Incredible.

A very professional process from start…

A very professional process from start to finish. The initial survey was completed following their specific methodology and resulted in a significant reduction.
Only thing to mark down slightly would be communications, but during this Covid period, show me a business that isn't facing some communications challenges.

Disgusting SPAM emailer

Disgusting SPAM emailer. I am fed up with emails from this appalling company. Isn't it strange that EVERY 5 star review is from someone who has only made one review. All fake, no doubt. Making a complaint to the ICO and passing it to our legal department to deal with.

Don’t waste your time and money

The promise of a reduction in your business rates is nothing but a scam. They’ll take your money and you won’t hear from them again. Don’t part with your hard earned money, these people are a bunch of time wasters. Customer service is terrible.

Eventually success

Having paid a £3360 fee last September and provided all information before October I find out this morning that they have finally
lodged an appeal.
I have spoken to them on several occasions previously and been assured that all was in hand.
This claim is deeply important as a small reduction in business rates would trigger a £25000 grant from the county and help to keep our business solvent.
I have now received confirmation that my appeal has been lodged. Thank you.

Hampton Lovett have been excellent in…

Hampton Lovett have been excellent in their approach, handling of the matter and the outcome. They successfully reduced our business rates by £17,500 in our rateable value which in London is very good going. I highly recommend their services and my neighbour will be placing his business rate claim through them.

Having been patient and allowing the process to play out, we have received formal notification from the Vale of Glamorgan council of a rate credit of approx £20k. Extremely happy with the service provided by Hampton Lovett.

Today we have received £17,870.46 cash rebate from Rutland County Council following a successful rates review initiated and lead by Hampton Lovett. Nothing more needed... very happy from beginning to end.

From start to finish the process has…

From start to finish the process has been handled promptly and efficiently, Sarah Tilleray and the whole team have always been available to handle my questions with a prompt response. The surveys were carried out without any fuss or delay. It was made clear that we had a very good case for a reduction in our rates, and this has proved to be the case. I never felt that I was being rushed into making a decision, but I'm very pleased I went ahead.
All in all money well spent.

I know nothing of this company but they sure send out a lot of unsolicited spam emails with incorrect details in.

How to deal with spam from this company

Like many others reviewing this company I have also received a stream of emails from Sarah Kennedy (presumably NOT the radio broadcaster and TV presenter). Looking at the email headers they appear to come from a server operated by an email marketing company called "Instiller". You can find Instiller on Google. If you feel these emails are spam, you should report them to Instiller - I can't put the address here but industry standard practice is to have an email address which is "abuse" at the relevant domain name. You may also want to report them to the Information Commissioner's Office - again Google is your friend.
You should definitely do this if you have clicked an unsubscribe link and are still receiving emails - you'll be doing the rest of us a service :)

AVOID !!

My husbands company has received numerous SPAM emails from Sarah Kennedy at Hampton Lovett. He has reviewd them on Trust Pilot (see Michael above} .
They asked him to remove Sarah Kennedys name from his review which he did and they said that no further emails would be sent as he "unsubscribed".
Four more emails have subsequently been sent to his email - the latest saying that"we have identified further discrepancies within the Summary Valuation for your premises.
SPAM SPAM SPAM !!!

I have received numerous emails and numerous times I have requested to be unsubscribed from a mailing list I never signed up to but they still insist on sending emails. Why would I trust a company that cant even respect the wishes of someone they are touting for business from.

Spam email

Spam email: I have received a number of these and extract of text is below. The most recent was from xxxx ( an email address was supplied) but the company listed at the bottom of email was Hampton Lovett. I assume that xxxx is thus an agent of theirs.

"Business rates relief available for Crowborough could mean thousands back into The Perfect Painting Co Tunbridge Wells Ltd’s cashflow.
Hi,
I am a specialist Rating Surveyor based in the Crowborough area and have recently secured a substantial reduction in Rateable Value for a client that has a comparable property to yours in the local area.

I have evidence to support that your Rateable Value is well in excess of where it should be compared to neighbouring premises. Hampton Lovetts reply said they would remove me from their database .... BUT
I have since received 2 further SPAM emails from them - Example of 1 is below

Don't waste your money

Had a meeting with a representative of this company and was assured I would receive a rates rebate so handed over £1,200. That was nov/dec 2018 ????
As mentioned by a few others they blamed covid for the delay and have recently got back to me saying it looks unlikely I will receive anything. Do yourself a favour, DO NOT USE THESE CHARLATANS.

Having read your reply you say that you've spoken to my caseworker and the VOA are currently working on my case. I'm confused because I received an email from said caseworker telling me that the VOA have turned down my application ? Please clarify !

We are sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the service received. Having reviewed your file I note that you instructed us on 18th December 2018. The VOA issued the VO7045A at the end of January 2019 and following settlement of our invoice your premises were surveyed in March 2019.

Since then the appeal has been in a programme with the VOA and we are advised that the case is still ongoing.

The Company has taken all reasonable and necessary steps to progress matters for you, but it is regrettable that the VOA have taken such a considerable amount of time to move towards concluding this matter for you.

I have spoken with your caseworker this afternoon and they have advised that the VOA are working on your case at present and that an outcome should be received within the next month at most.

We appreciate the frustration with the length of time this has taken and would like to assure you once again that we have requested the matter be expedited by the VOA on numerous occasions, however as an executive agency of HMRC they have their own timeframes that they work to, and are often resistant to prioritising cases, regardless of the frustration and inconvenience that ratepayers experience.

By way of clarification, the caseworker was advised that the appeal is listed for Valuation Tribunal in February 2021.

So despite not opting in to Hampton…

So despite not opting in to Hampton Lovett spam emails and the fact that their spam email contains false statements alluding to them having assessed my business rates (despite my being exempt) today I have had another spam email.

Todays email says "Further to our last correspondence, we have identified further discrepancies within the Summary Valuation for your premises."

The discrepancy is that you are claiming to have reviewed my business rates. How can you, when I am exempt so there simply is no rates to review?

And to my last review, the boss Chris Goodhand said I should contact him to get myself removed from their spam email list?

Its underhand tactics like this from UK based companies that need holding to account.

Why should companies like Hampton Lovett be allowed to keep sending spam, after spam and their response isnt "ok we will stop" its "we will remove you from our list and keep sending spam"

Chris Goodhand at Hampton Lovett, you knew the deal from my last review, one new review for each new experience (i.e new spam email)

Stopping spamming and I'll stop reviewing. Its a simple offer. Your choice.

*all spam emails retained as evidence should they be required by Trustpilot.

Edit following HL response:
Chris, its your tactics of lying in your spams emails and the spam emails themselves and then only offering to remove individuals from your spam list(but continue to send spam) thats underhanded,

Why should I do that, just so that you can continue sending spam?
