Festive surcharge may be reasonable — but communication to regular customers was poor
I subscribe to a fortnightly cleaning service with Helpling and was charged an additional $10 service fee for one of my regular sessions during the Chinese New Year period. I understand that festive surcharges can be reasonable, and I did not give one star because a footnote mentioning the surcharge was included in a 27 January email.
However, the way this was communicated to existing subscription customers was, in my view, very poor. The email sent on 27 January was clearly framed as a marketing message titled “Secure your festive clean before slots fill up,” which appears targeted at new bookings rather than customers with already-confirmed recurring services. The surcharge information was only mentioned in a small footnote, which is easy to miss and does not feel like a proper notification of a price change affecting scheduled appointments.
While this approach may be technically defensible, it falls short from a customer service and transparency perspective. Existing subscription customers should receive a clear, direct notification when surcharges will apply to their regular bookings, rather than having to notice it within a promotional email.
I hope Helpling reviews how these changes are communicated in future, as clearer and more proactive messaging would go a long way in building trust with long-term customers.

Great if you’re lucky
The better thing about Helpling is that it isn’t as local as the other providers. If bad English triggers you, don’t worry. Helpling has good English and are relatively more professional. Been using them for five years since 2020. My first one lasted 1.5 years until she quit the platform, current one is 2 years and counting. The 2-3 in between caused a lot of grief by messing up my home but I stuck with Helpling because the other ones were worse and this is really your best choice.
Wonderful customer service
One of my regular helper was sick and couldn’t make it for the scheduled cleaning. Helpling staff were prompt in arranging a replacement for me, fuss free. Wonderful experience
Additional helping hand
With Helpling, I am able to make sure that my house is clean as a working mom with 2 kids. The helper assisted to me is excellent in her job and is able to take an extra step to ensure that the house is clean and tidy.

Helpling has been giving me quality cleaners even though my engagement was only once a month. Hopefully they will consider package deal for once a month engagement too in the near future! The recent cleaner was very efficient in completing her tasks and we are very happy that she irons the huge pile of our clothes well and on time. Will definitely use helpling again!

Helper assigned to my house did an excellent work in cleaning, she’s pleasant and auto-pilot. Am glad to have her helping me out bi-weekly as an working mum.
Customer services was also better than the other provider, glad I found Helpling else will be so frustrating bi-weekly with the other provider.

Had regular booking with them, and the admins are helpful in every rescheduling I’ve requested. Helper is very detailed and able to do clean up based on what’s requested as well!

Always a good experience. Well trained helpers who are always thorough in their cleaning and receptive to requests. Customer service is very responsive on chat and WhatsApp. The range of services is quite comprehensive too.

I have been a Helpling customer for two years. So far, I engage 1 helper throughout this period. The booking is easy via Helpling app. I can modify my bookings within the tip of my fingers. If I have queries with my bookings or their helper, I can do this via WhatsApp platform. It is very easy, convenient, and hassle-free. Thank you, Helpling, for the tip-top service thus far.
