We began our HPP Cares-supported ADU project in November 2023, with final approval from the City Building Dept on July 16 2024, and final payment from the HPP Cares escrow account to our contractor in late September 2024. There were a few bumps along the way, but in the end, we are pleased with the support we received from HPP Cares to finance our ADU project to implement this project.

I give thanks to Nancy for helping me in every way possible she’s very helpful and always going out of her way she’s a jewel.

The process of obtaining this grant isn't as hard as it seems. The team at HPP Cares help you throughout the entire process. Toward the very end of my construction, I started working with Genesis. She was so easy to work with and responsive. Her responses were always within 24 hours. They were always a pleasure to work with.

I had a wonderful experience at HPP Cares, from prior to submitting the application, they were diligent in providing the information, to then applying for the grant. I was then assigned to Genesis which made the whole process of submitting the receipts smoothly. She is of great value to this organization :) Thank you again, Genesis, for all your support and promptness!

I am very grateful to Nancy Ruiz and the HPP Cares team for their continuous assistance to complete the construction of the detached ADU in the backyard of my main house. The HPP Cares team helped me through the whole process to apply for a loan, fund my project, and submit payments to my contractor.

Denys Rivera at HPP Cares helped us tremendously. We would have not known what and how to address a letter for a loan modification. It’s a very stressful process, but he takes his time and makes it all much easier.

Led by Nancy Ruiz, I was able to successfully navigate the process and receive the grant. This program is such a valuable asset for those looking to create new livable space in a time when available housing is so difficult to find. It is my hope that continued funding for this program will remain a priority.

Initially I was confused as everybody else as to how to get funded. I attended the workshop and able to ask questions at the end of the workshop with Katherine. Katherine was very knowledgeable and immediately answered what i need to know. I went ahead with my projects. Unfortunately, my project took about 2 1/2 years to complete. I had couples of account managers changed due to the long journey of getting my ADU built. Finally, I was very fortunate to have Nancy as my new account manager. Nancy thoroughly explained to me the final process and her instruction was very cleared. She informed me if i don’t know how to upload my documents to the link she sent. I can email her and Diana. Diana immediately responded to my email and together with Nancy, they processed my documents and funded my account within the same day they received my documents. I am amazed how quickly they all worked. Thank you all again to work together with me through this long journey. I am very happy with the outcome of my ADU. I can’t thank you enough to all the staffs at HPP Cares for all your hard work. A BIG Thank you to Katherine, Diana and Nancy. You all are the BEST!

We had the great pleasure of working with Genesis through our ADU journey. She was communicative, responsive and friendly throughout. Building an ADU can be very daunting, but my work with Genesis was definitely the smooth part of the process and we’re grateful for the wonderful experience. My sincere thanks to you, Genesis!

Once we landed with Genesis things went well. Genesis was quick to respond either via email or phone. If an issue needed to be escalated she did not hesitate to escalate to get our issues addressed. This ADU was our first construction project as well as our first grant. Be patient as there is a learning curve. HPP Cares took good care of us. Thank you HPP Cares, we appreciate all you did for our project. We are done and it looks fantastic.

I started my JADU project in 2022 and received a grant from the state through HPP Care. I had no idea how to allocate funds and move forward with the construction simultaneously. It was so stressful not knowing what's next. Everything was my first step, like everyone else.

HPP Care team (Karen, Diane) seamlessly navigated me through my journey so I could focus on the actual construction part. Diane was dedicated, always responded quickly, and answered my questions; her work ethic was amazing!

I am thankful that HPP Care is there to help move forward every step of the way.

My experience with HPP cares was very informative and helpful. I know that without Emily and her expertise I would not have know what to do. She was very patient and knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions and concerns.

My experience through this whole process went pretty smooth. I am not good with technology but was able to complete everything via cell phone and laptop. I am so appreciative to qualify for this grant money which I received the full amount I was requesting. When I started my project the application process was not open. I was contacted in December 2023 and started the process. At this point I was a month away from my final inspection and had already paid all my contractors. I had gotten a Heloc loan from my bank and HPP Cares paid that loan off and sent a check directly to my bank.
