Useless outside of US
Maybe it works for Americans but certainly did not work for us in Europe or Australia. Tried to “exchange” many times eventually losing 2 Marriott deposits. Strange that some of the resorts we tried “exchanging” were unavailable but available for “Getaways” which must be purchased. Think long and hard before wasting your money.
This used to be good 2-3 years ago but…
This used to be good 2-3 years ago but there’s barely any decent destinations to use a certificate on any more. To add insult to injury, they set you up to pay exorbitant amount of money in hidden fees.
❗️❗️What’s the point of the certificate if I’m just going to end up paying regular price or more anyway.❗️❗️
At this point they should sacrifice the amount of certificates they give to customer in exchange for better quality & options.
getting worse
getting worse - Do not deposit your timeshare week for exchange - I have three weeks deposited with 4 bonus certificate. You do not have much choice. I have been waiting for two years and still waiting for the exchange. One expired!
Simple issue never resolved.
We exchanged our time share through Interval. They only put my name on the reservation. I spent 3 hours calling my time share company, Interval and the resort where we will be staying, to add my husband and 2 children to the reservation. I was advised by the resort and my time share company that the reservation had to be updated through Interval. Each time I called Interval, they transferred me at least 3 times and ultimately told me they could not help me, I needed to call the resort.
The resort said this happens frequently, as Interval has to make a phone call to their 'wholesaler' to update the reservation, which they will not take the time to do. It is easier to say it is out of their hands. Is this true? I'm honestly not sure. It does seem logical that the update would need to be done by the company that booked the reservation initially. Interval gave me different reasons each time I called as to why they are unable to add the names. In the end-the issue was never resolved, as I opted to maintain my sanity after the most over the top back and forth I've ever been a part of. I am still shocked that in 3 hours over the course of multiple calls in a 2 month time period, there was not one single person that could update names on a reservation. Seems like a simple task. Not my job seems to be the company motto.
I was trying to book a place in Europe…
I was trying to book a place in Europe more than a month from today. Could not find anything. Not only that, they cannot even check a hotel exchange availability until the transfer of my week from my timeshare is confirmed.
To add insult to injury, the rep tried to sell me a gold or platinum upgrade which I will entitle me to more certificates I cannot use.
She transferred me to Hotel exchange rep who also could not find anything until the transfer was confirmed. He also tried to sell me an upgrade to the membership without being sure he could actually find me something.
The customer service rep was polite and…
The customer service rep was polite and empathetic until she hung up the phone.
I inquired about daily deals - she said no refunds even if you purchased the insurance. Unless you make yourself sick.
Then said she can issue a refund if we buy another deal?
I told her that doesn’t make much since.
She said Marriott owns them but allows them to treat people however they want.
The service industry is dead. Everyone has too much pride from watching t.v. ; jealous of watching other people live.
Horrible Poop Hole
Wow, what a horrible experience. Exchanged a very nice amriott unit (two rentals for Interval) and received a horrible experience in Lake Tahoe. Exchanged for the Tahao Beach and Ski Club. What a poop hole, oh my God (fulll words on purpose). Old smelly place with 1970's everything. Not a cute stling nod toward the seventies. It hasn't been remodeled and smells like every year since the 70's. Don't do it. Save your money and your salinity. Don't do Interval. Don't do the Tahoe
Ski and Beach Club!!!
Avoid Interval!
We exchanged a 5 star Master Suite with 2 baths for a similar resort. We thought it would be a like for like. After booking online, they had switched us to a studio with one bath. Nothing online said that when booking. Called them and they said it was on the second page. Sorry, but I printed out the information and nowhere was that listed. Now to try to get our original unit back! Interval is the worst! Customer service told us, we confirmed it, you are stuck with it. Exact words! We will go all the way to corporate with this. This company is a SCAM!
Run Away!
I have been an interval member since 2010 and will no longer renew after years of limited inventory, low-quality offerings, and the virtual impossibility of booking a resort at a time and location of my choosing. Be prepared to get on a long waiting list if you want a popular destination like Hawaii.
I regret my timeshare purchase partly because of Interval and its associated fees. Interval fees: Yearly renewal ~$160 Booking fees ~$280. That means Interval costs a minimum of $440 a year to maintain and book one stay. Add in Timeshare maintenance fees of $1100 and the cost of lodging is almost $1,600! The same $1,600 with Airbnb gets me a week of my choosing (2 months out) in Hawaii, with a large inventory to choose from.
Do yourself a favor. Do not join or renew Interval. You are better off renting out your week and taking the cash to purchase a vacation where you want when you want.
The worst experience ever
The worst experience ever. Everytime I use my exchange, I have to pay $280 something for the service fee. To exchange my one bedroom resort in Maui, with a 3 star hotel in the US, cost me money. Absolutely the most rotten deal ever!!!
Never ever get a timeshare or use Interval International
Never ever get a timeshare! In the 20 years of ownership, I have regretted the day I signed. The lies and deceit used to sell "a dream vacation" is a reoccurring EXPENSIVE nightmare. Interval never has properties available and they kill you with fees. The offer extra gift weeks that are unusable unless you want to
go to the middle of no where in Finland in February. How do I get rid of this holiday nightmare? customer service staff are unhelpful and just a waste of time. especially the ones who respond to email requests.
Big Scam, Nothing as promised.
This time share purchase was a big scam. We are dreading attending the presentation and purchasing the points. There no decent resort available at any decent time, whatever the time you look. The person who gifted us the resort certificate, must've have sold his points and given his certificates, because he is not able to get a resort booking. The initial presentation was all glamours and heart warming, but the reality is totally the opposite.
My new husband needs a guest certificate to use my timeshare
I hope you are reading these reviews before you signup, because the one star reviews are all spot on. I signed up for Interval years ago before you could read reviews and WISH I would have had this information then.
I'm almost to the end of using my timeshare and I will say it was handy to bank my timeshare. BUT as time went on, I discovered that due to the low quality of many of the resorts you can probably book them cheaper on their site than using the nickel - dime game you have to play with Interval.
When I bought the timeshare, it was with my ex, if my new husband wants to go to a resort without me, we have to buy him a GUEST Certificate for $79.00.
Absolutely No Value
Very limited options and most are low-budget, poorly-rated properties. In addition to the booking fee, almost every property they offer is all-inclusive. You can actually get better prices (and better service) by booking direct. IF, that is, you want to book any of the sub-par properties they offer.
I'd give less than one star if I could
I'd give less than one star if I could. Since Marriott bought Welk Resorts and the roll over points went to Interval International instead of RCI, I have not been able to book a stay and the cost for exchange went from $99 with RCI to $229 with Interval. Very dissatisfied with every aspect of this experience.
I've been a member since 2019 never got…
I've been a member since 2019 never got any customer service. Paid so much money and got nothing. f these punks. tired of money grabbing companies that do nothing.
I am a Platinum member of Interval and…
I am a Platinum member of Interval and I want to tell you. DO NOT BECOME A MEMBER OF Interval. They are a corrupt organization designed to steel your money as well as your identity. Every time I use them my credit card gets compromised. Their website is extremely difficult and they always want more money. Run don't walk away from these people.
This company sucks
This company sucks. No customer service. They only want your money. Do not do business with them.
There are better options available.
Interval is probably one of the worst companies when it comes to timeshares. You can never get the resorts you are looking for, and if they have any availability in the area you are interested in it is usually at an resort that is inferior to what you traded. Best to keep your reservation and use something like Redweek.
Rude Customer Service
Called customer service for information about an exchange, the rep I spoke to was beyond rude. They need better customer service training.
