WORST storage company every Overland Park iStorage on 125th street
Overland Park iStorage on 125th street. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
We rented a unit and it flooded -- either leak in roof or leak of their AC unit. WAter cascaded down back wall and pooled on the floor. We lost thousands of $ worth of furniture. They took no responsibility and told us to 'file a claim with our homeowners insurance". They told us we didn't take out THEIR insurance. There is an unspoken contract that we would pay them for storage and in return would have usage of a secure, DRY unit.

Went there they gave my storage unit to someone else when we had a full load and there was a lock on it. We didn’t know what to do . Then they went up on the rates without letting us know! I don’t recommend this storage place at all!

Bad policies
This review is regarding is the Newark, Delaware facility on North Depont Highway.
Prices are decent but I know this company raises the rent after just a few months for no justifiable reason which is greedy and lame.
I once was getting some items out of my unit to go camping and the office would not let me use the restroom because it "isn't open to the public". Call me crazy buy a paying customer is not "the public". I realize the employee didn't make this policy and so am not blaming her.
But worst of all, when I came back, I tranferred to a temperature controlled unit and put my gear in the new unit with the intent of moving some other things out of my old unit and into the new one and finishing up the next day because they only give you 24 hours to transfer, otherwise, they charge a nonsensical "administration fee". I searched the entire building D and the entire building H, both floors, and could not find a cart. Before heading home, I stopped back in the office and asked the employee if I had to reserve a cart and she told me that she was told there is one cart in each building but doesn't know what happened to them, some bad actors keep the carts in their units and that the company isn't buying more carts. Again, not her fault, but I immediately thought of several solutions - lock them up and make people reserve them, maybe even make them leave a credit card as collateral; or put a note on the door saying "Carts are not your personal property"; or send an email to everyone asking people to stop being jerks and return the carts; or put up cameras, even fake ones and a sign warning that the building is under surveillance and that anyone not returning carts will be charged an exhorbitant sum of money.
When someone decides to punish everyone due to the actions of a few bad actors, that makes that person an bad actor, too. Rather than solve the problem so that the good actors don't suffer, punishing everyone is just a way to make your life easier disregarding the needs of others while the bad actors still behave badly. And thar's terrible customer service. I'm sure iStorage doesn't care. Why do business with a company that does 't care.

Not just the lights don’t work
I was in the unit, and that all the ceiling foam came down and all my stuff Was completely covered. And it was a pain in the ass to clean. I moved to a different unit a bigger one and in the last three months they raise my rates from $36.00 to 44.20 then two months later raised to $57.80. I complained and they said there was nothing they could do. Even though they were offering a unit just like mine for lock in rate of $22.00 plus insurance and tax $37.00. Raise a good paying customer to $57.80 and offer low rates to whoever. When I moved my stuff out this week I had water from several leaks.
Pensacola iStorage
Pensacola, Florida - Mobile Hwy. If I could give zero stars I would. Not as advertised. There are real security concerns here that need to be addressed. No security cameras in climate controlled spaces. Only two cameras total and they are pointed at the office. For climate controlled spaces the unused units are left unlocked so people can enter those empty units, climb the wall and see what is in your unit by simply pushing the insulation up seeing what you have, come back later, cut your lock and steal what’s in your stuff. Dilapidated fences that can be squeezed through and climbed over. On the ground, at the side gates you can see pieces of multiple locks have been cut. Tremendous amounts of rodent feces found in our unit. In the neighborhood that this storage unit is in, they really need to do a better job with security. After our unit was broken into and thousands of dollars worth of stuff was stolen, we never got a call from the owner or an acknowledgement that there was a larger security issue. I do not recommend this storage facility.
Price hikes, lockouts and absent office
They lured me in with a low price, and then jacked it up every few months until it's higher than all the competitors. They have locked me out several times because they lost track of my payment, which always cleared early, being an electronic monthly payment. When you do go to the office to try to clear it up, they are usually not there during business hours, and no one locally or at the corporate level ever answers the phone. This is not where you want to put your stuff if you ever want to see it again.
Don’t rent at istorage in Woodbury…
Don’t rent at istorage in Woodbury Minnesota. They only have cameras in the front they don’t have cameras were the storage lockers are. If your storage gets broken into the police, will tell you that they will not have any camera footage to show you who broke into your storage.
going the extra mile to find storage near me
iStorage really helped me out when I needed to move at last minute. Their first property didn't have the storage unit size I needed but they had another property near me that ended up working out great. Pricing was fair
The credit card for auto-pay expired
The credit card for auto-pay expired. The only way to contact the company to give a new card # was by phone. Repeated calls to the store went to voice mail. I did not want to leave the card number for security reasons. Being overseas, with a time difference, I didn't leave a call back #. When I finally connected, it was just a few days past my payment due date. I was charged a late fee. Getting nowhere with the store staff, I submitted a request for credit to Customer Service on their website. My complaints are: 1. No courtesy notice to inform my card was declined (as many other service providers do); 2. No alternative contact method, such as email; 3. No response from Corporate on my online request for credit of the late fee. I don't feel that my business is valued by this company.
Rip Off Artists
Since istorage bought out metro self storage, my storage rate has increased 3 times in 1 year. Not small increases but large increases. If you are 3 days late on your storage payment your late fee is close to $50.00. Also the late day starts the day before your rent is actually due. Example if your rent is due on the last day of the month it's actually considered late on that very exact same day. So they are expecting you to pay your rent the day before or it is not considered on time. Your phone starts ringing the day before your rent is actually due and if you are late making a payment your phone will ring every single day. Horrible policy and procedures I do not recommend this company at all ! If I ever need a storage unit again I will not use istorage. They are only here to rip off the consumer nothing more.

Everything was destroyed from water damage and mold
I've been renting from them for 3 years and when I went to check on my stuff there was major water damage and mold!!!!! Even the walls are covered in mold. 😭😭😭 I've lost everything in that unit to water damage and mold.

Very Disappointed With Istorage PERIODT
I started out with Extra Space Storage and things were fine until istorage took over in the later part of 2021. My rent has gone up so many times without my even being told about it. Istorage is nothing but a GREEDY company. I’ve been trying to be done with them for months. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE INFACT YOU BETTER RUN. I’m having a hard time paying this high ass storage in the first place and they continue to raise my rent, call me daily if not weekly, text messages, emails and no consideration for the pandemic or people struggling. They claim to have removed some charges from my previous bills but it looks like they were all tacked back on with the rent increase.Back in December of 202, I was also told by the property manager that if I stayed with Istorage they would charge me the rate that I was grandfathered in with from Extra Space Storage, THAT WAS A TOTAL LIE BECAUSE THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN JUST CONSTANTLY RAISING THE RENT. It seems to me Istorage just raises my rent whenever they feel like it and they don’t have to tell me anything. I feel like all the phone calls, emails and text messages are all forms of harassing threats. I’ve been doing the best I can with my payments. Now I feel like I’m being threatened with my belongings being auctioned off. I need everything in my storage and if I didn’t I wouldn’t have been paying for storage for over 2 years.
Fraudulent Insurance
2yrs ago I opted to transfer my previous INSURANCE Carrier to the above storage carrier they provided. Upon removing stored items from unit there were water damage to items. I contacted the office verbally & submitted a video of damage. After numerous contacts, issues have not been addressed. I found thru investigating, there several claims that have been filed against this storage site that have not been settle.
Iam distraught regarding there business practices. They show no regard towads tentants nor responsibility.
deceptive and falsely advertised
After 7 years, we cannot take it anymore. Every month/quarter they raise the prices. Right now we are paying $505 for what is advertised as $347 on their website. We can upgrade or downgrade but are not allowed to move out of our 500 unit and claim the advertised 347 unit. The place is not/hardly climate controlled. The A/C did not work for years and we lost a lot of electronics due to the humidity (never filed a claim). Cold as hell in the winter. Finally, the 10x20 unit they advertise is actually 9x18 foot. Bathroom did not work for a couple years either. We will be moving elsewhere. They are awful!

I wouldn’t even give it a star but I don’t have the option. The place is a rat infested place the one on Garth rd in Baytown Texas. You cannot get to talk to a supervisor because the manager or employees are not allowed to give the info so they say. Most of my stuff was damaged due to the rat Infestation pee and droppings everywhere on everything, the hallway is all poop and pee from the rats I think the place to to shut down. I have insurance on there and it’s been month trying to get a claim and no one has contacted me. All I got in the mail was a letter for unit increase and they still have the rats problem but want you to pay more while your stuff is being damaged I have plenty of videos and picture for proof. I even witness these big rats all over the ceiling a day that I went to remove the rest of my stuff out the storage. Please stay away from this place find a different storage to store your belongings.
