Changed my habits for the better
I've been using ekko since February and have really enjoyed the change it has brought to my daily habits. I didn't think just using a different card for payments would have this impact, but the positive feedback, direct impact and awareness has helped my improve my own general impact on the world. Ekko makes day to day impact easy
Ekko is my go-to card - yes there are some wrinkles as you can tell they're a start-up who haven't got the fully polished experience yet (Apple Pay or auto-top up) but those are coming on their dev roadmap. You can tell from the reviews on here that this is a new product in the market, so I was expecting them. But I have already planted 7 trees and saved 71 bottles from the ocean, all from just doing what I was doing anyway - tapping my card in shops, on the Tube and in restaurants.
Keep it up guys, and keep bringing the new releases - what you're doing is super important, it's the everyday little things that will tackle climate change, not just the big dramatic actions. And it's about time people realised that.

I’ll update the review if my experience changes.
I have had non stop issues with Ekko since opening the account. I use rival bank Novus also and although they also have issues sometimes, they’re minimal in comparison to what Ekko have put me through.
When there is a block or review on your account, they don’t tell you. There’s no notification on the app to inform you, nor do they send you an email stating this either.
Everyday is a new issue. I started unable to receive money, then they fixed that issue promptly. Then I couldn’t transfer money out to my mother. Then they somehow sorted that. Employee: Manish is quite helpful and has been the person to resolve my issues quickly and efficiently, even though they shouldn’t have happened.
I asked if I could connect my Ekko to my PayPal and was told in exact words “of course you can!” I then proceeded to do so and the second it connected, they blocked my Ekko account. I have since been able to withdraw from PayPal to ekko, but the minute that money reached my account, BLOCKED AGAIN! Even though I was given confirmation that I can do so.
I have only been able to transfer £5 to my mum and that was yesterday, after Manish had to take yet another block off my account.
I went out with a friend who moved out of England many years ago and it was my treat. Only to find out AGAIN, card not working (even though it says it’s active), can’t withdraw money, can’t view my card pin and can’t transfer money. The day had to be paid for by my friend and I currently can’t even transfer her the funds because EKKO have unlawfully blocked my account for the hundredth time. Bearing in mind, I’ve only had this account for a week.
My mistake was transferring all of my funds to Ekko, I wish I’d read the reviews first.
They’re now telling me someone will investigate the “issue”, they mean BLOCK, within 2 days. No. I need it unblocked TODAY. I had to push back a job interview 3 times because of this bank. Definitely won’t be allowed a forth.
I’m shocked at the customer service given to me, MINUS MANISH, as they seem to be the only person working there with somewhat of a brain cell.
Rectify your mistakes and issues and I can happily update the review. As any of the good ones have 100% been paid for or work for the company or friends of the employees. Nothing good about this bank so far.
UPDATE: FRIDAY 5TH AUGUST :
They have now decided to close my account. I’d give a reason why but there isn’t one nor did they give me one. After any and every transaction done, they blocked my account and I had to email to have it unblocked. Same issue again, blocked last night, Manish replied to say it’s unblocked AGAIN etc this morning, 2 hours later, I received an email saying they’re closing my account with immediate effect. I personally think it’s because of this review but I don’t bloody care. I have reported the bank to Payrnet, financial ombudsman service and also forwarded my transcripts to Martin Lewis and watchdog to review.
I hope this bank gets closed so if you need the reference numbers for these reports, I’ll be updating them on here later on.
Disgusting and shocking service from start to finish. BOYCOTT AND AVOID!!! Do NOT ever trust your money with Ekko.

I didn’t breach any terms, you closed my account because you couldn’t fix the issues going wrong with it. In fact you closed my account because of my review on here. I only ever had payments sent to me from my OWN personal account and PayPal, both of which you agreed I can do before I’d even sent the payments. You froze my account after every transaction I did, I had to email 10+ times a day for it to be unblocked and you assured me that a team was working on sorting the issue for me.
You are liars and thieves. Horrible horrible company, have posted throughout my big social media following to BOYCOTT your bank. I have also had several calls with your provider, PAYRNET about removing their name from your services, as you’re naturally giving them a terrible name. Don’t reply, you’re a waste of F^%KING time.

Free, ethical and rewarding
I’ve recently signed up to ekko and I’m already enjoying seeing the difference my account makes. It doesn’t cost a penny but every time I log in to my account, and see that fewer bottles will reach the ocean as a result of choosing my ekko card rather than a standard bank card, it feels amazing. So refreshing to see a business with a conscience.
